I am a Marriott Platinum member and will be working in Stevens Point weekly for 6 months. I always stay at Marriott Properties if possible. This hotel is almost twice the price as other hotels in the area that are closer to my job. The rooms are fine (typical Fairfield Inn), but not better than other competitors in the region. Apparently, Platinum members get no significant benefits such as free room upgrades, etc. (I asked at check-in) I asked our corporate office to inquire about a corporate rate, but the hotel manager would not offer a discounted rate even for the promise of steady business from me for the next 6-9 months. If you simply need a good place to stay at a competitive price for the area, you would be wise to search elsewhere. I like the Marriott brand, but my company is not willing to pay New York City prices ($189 AAA rate) for a moderate hotel in Stevens Point. If you are not tied to a rewards program, you will
Always like Marriott, especially free breakfast. Lately breakfasts have been costing around $10 per person, so its nice to go downstairs from your room and get a warm breakfast for free. Clean hotel, very nice staff. Was a busy weekend, but everyone was friendly and took their time to answer any questions about the surrounding area. Keep it up Marriott. Thank you for great staff and wonderful rooms and breakfast.
Maybe it was a one-off but my experience was not good. Would not stay here again. Room wasn't the greatest and front desk clerk was not helpful at all. If I have to go to Stevens Point again I will probably try the Hampton Inn.
Hotel is clean, rooms pretty basic, but the free wifi worked well. Good breakfast and location. Kwik Trip is across the street which is very convenient. Close to the highway, but vary quit and very dark daytime rooms for rest.
I like the Marriott chains. This was a very busy weekend for all hotels due the state basketball tournament for 8th grade. The hotel room was clean and in good condition. It had the standard amenities. Tv, wifi, microwave, refrigerator, and coffee. The beds were decent but not top end. The elevator was very dirty. It was a busy Saturday but it seemed like more than a days worth of build up. The breakfast was average. It was not overwhelming. The staff was ok. No one left a mark but they did their job. The pool is small. The lobby and breakfast seating area is small but cozy. We did not visit anything else.
Clean hotel, great customer service. Free breakfast in the morning is so-so, but it is free. Good location if you're seeing the area. Wisconsin scenery and friendly people really makes the stay enjoyable. Great restaurants close by.
I skipped the breakfast at this hotel and bought something outside. To me good breakfast means a good start of the day. The room was clean and quiet. I couldn't recall anything else from the hotel. As I stated in the title: not impressed.
I stayed here on a business trip. I usually stay at another local hotel but it was booked solid. Turns out this hotel was booked solid. My room was quiet and faced opposite side from the street. The breakfast gal was sweet and made sure everyone had what they needed. First night, no shampoo. Second night, I had what I needed. The check in guy could be a little more hospitable. The girls behind the counter were friendly and helpful. I would say it was an average stay. You can walk to restaurant next door. Good location. Room was clean and had everything I needed.
So this is a Fairfield Inn and as cookie cutter as they come. Not the cheapest option mind you there are other places that give you a similar room for 40-50 % less but somehow you hope to get something slightly better if you pay a little more. My main gripe with this hotel - and I guess it is the same with others in the group - is that the breakfast is the worst collection of stale bagels, dry muffins, tasteless melon and sugarcoated cereal you can imagine. Eggs of course are scrambled made from powdered eggs and the bacon - of which there were only three strips in the pan - is probably artificially enhanced for flavor. None of this food left the factory less than three months before it appeared on your breakfast buffet, I would guess. Shame on you Marriott group for serving such dismal fare to your customers. Is there no one in your area that can deliver freshly baked goods and some tasty apples, pears or seasonal fruit and local cheese in the middle of Wisconsin in October?
What a nice quiet very clean hotel. Friendly staff and great hot and various items for breakfast. Comfortable beds and pillows. Hot tub and pool were clean too. A keeper. I thought it was a bit pricey for 1 night midweek.
