Holiday Inn Staunton Conference Center3.0 out of 5.0

Looking for a hotel that took dogs near 64 in Virginia. This is a hotel that includes a conference center and golf course. Was pleasantly surprised how clean the rooms were. Staff was very helpful, especially with scanning documents I needed to send. The only drawback to this visit was the business center. Hard to figure out the computer system.
Holiday Inn/ and Holiday Inn Express gurantee a certain Quality Level for Quiet, clena, comfortable Hotel : this was fulfilled. Room was spacious, clean, quiet with good beds, clean bath with good shower, breakfast was ok
Checked in after 8pm on a Saturday night. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Staff took the time to explain the free WiFi and answered other questions with a smile! The room was nice and clean, plenty of room for a family to stay comfortably. Beds and pillows were comfy! Parking lot was large with plenty of lights, making it feel safe. Quick on and off access to interstate 81 in VA.
Check in was fast, but the gal was either shy or unsure of herself. Nothing was explained regarding WiFi, the restaurant, pools...and so on. She was polite however. The room felt cramped as compared to other name brand Holiday Inn's. The room was clean and had 2 beds, micro and fridge among other basic amenities. Beds were a little firm for us, but the bedding/linens were clean. 4 pillows, 2 soft, 2 firm. TV worked fine. Nice channel line up, but many blank channels, and the line up sheet was not accurate. Bathroom was a good size. Towels were thick and had no stains. Bathroom was clean, tub, sink and toilet, but the wall by the trash can and wall switch has several markings of something spilled. 4th floor hallway was very hot during our entire stay. Room Air was was very loud and did not run continuously. Every time it cycled on/off it got hot/cold, and woke us up. These things are minor and our own issue. Overall, we did enjoy our stay. The location had excellent parking and an overall friendly staff.
Got charged high price for almost empty weekday night. Then they wanted to charge $10 more for a $10 credit for breakfast. Doesn't matter if you are a frequent stayer member. Lots more and better motels in the area and we will be there next time. Pretty golf course.
Try to get a view of the golf course Clean facility with good mattresses and a very friendly and helpful staff. An older Hotel with very loud air conditioning units. The bar staff is superb and the breakfast service was excellent
The location is the best feature of the Hotel. Staunton is located near the intersection of Interstates 81 and 64. It is less than an hour drive to Monticello, the Natural Bridge, the Safari Park and several caverns. There is also the Woodrow Wilson presidential Library and a really neat playhouse right in Staunton. Tip: The hotel is close to the interstate. I was concerned about road noise so I booked the "golf view" rooms (Faces the country club and away from the interstate). These rooms cost about $5 more per night but ours was nice and quiet. The mattresses were very firm The hotel was a standard Holiday Inn. I had two rooms for the family. Generally speaking the hotel is a bit older and out of date. Personally I really don't care if something is "dated" as long as it is clean and in good condition. The rates I received were very reasonable. The Good: The location (noted above). The pillows are great. They give 4 pillows per bed, 2 firm and 2 soft. I have a hard time finding a good pillow for home. The firm pillows were exactly what I needed. The staff was courteous. The king room had a mini fridge and a microwave which was nice. (I don't remember if the double room had one or not) The bathrooms were clean, no mold anywhere which was great. There was a Keurig coffee maker and 5 pods in the room (The wife loved it!) Opportunities for improvement: Some of the furniture, the carpet and the bed skirts had stains on them. House keeping did not show up on the third day despite being in the hallway when we left for the day. I'm not really sure why our rooms were skipped because we did NOT have the privacy signs on the doors. And we gave a rather generous tip the day before. We had to go to the front desk and ask for towels and toilet paper when we got back to the room. This was quite an annoyance as we had been out in the heat all day and everyone needed to use the bathroom and get showers. There is no night light in the bathroom. so if you get up while it is still dark out, it is either pitch black or you have to turn on a very bright light There are no restaurants in walking distance, just the one in the hotel. We purchased a room package that included breakfast. The breakfast buffet was not open for the 3 days we were there, which was a bit of a disappointment. We ordered breakfast from the limited menu. It was average food that seemed to have been microwaved (e.g., soggy waffles). If we didn't have the breakfast included in our room package we would have gone somewhere else on the 2nd day.
Stayed here while working in the area. Had the seafood special and it was very nice. Big portions which allowed me to take some takeout. Cortney and Kimi did a fantastic job at the bar and restaurant. They really took time out of there day to strike up a conversation. Service was excellent. They were really focused on making things right. Good people is the key to a good hotel. It seemed like they were really focused on keeping the place clean as if it was there own.
Did not experience the restaurant, bar or pool as we ate in lovely downtown Stanton. Room was as one would expect, spacious, clean, all the expected amenities. Corey, on the front desk was extremely helpful with restaurant recommendations, his top choice did turn out to be excellent. Would definitely stay here again.
We asked for a pet friendly room and it was a well taken care of room. Bathroom functioned fine. Great pressure in the shower and everything was clean. Unfortunately the next day at breakfast was disappointing. Lackadaisical staff and almost inedible buffet is one thing, but we were the ONLY people in the restaurant at the time, most of the tables hadn't been bussed when we walked in, we chose a table and sat down but they took their sweet time coming over even after we made eye contact. We ordered and asked for the table to be cleared. We came back to a cleared table but not one that had been cleaned...still crumbs and stickiness. Seems to be a theme as the floor is extremely sticky and I noticed the pendant lights over the tables haven't been cleaned and they are covered in grimy dust. Next time, we would still stay but eat breakfast out.
