Going to making a lot of trips to this area the next couple years so we thought we’d start trying out places to stay. Not so great on our first. The staff was friendly and the place was reasonably clean but the breakfast was terrible. I’ve eaten plenty of hotel continental breakfast before so I know what to expect. Their waffle mix and grits seemed watered down and the coffee was about the worst I’ve ever had. The rooms are also very outdated. Many of the Wall sockets didn’t work so we woke up to uncharged phones. Worst of all was the air conditioner made HORRIBLE noises all night. I did like the pillows though. Won’t be staying at this one again
This wouldn't be a bad hotel if they would just clean it. The lobby is dirty, the walkways have the same trash lying day after day. The laundry room is extremely dirty. Windows are dirty. The floors are filthy and I've never seen anyone mop. The towels and bedding are good and clean, so there's that.
Won't go back. The air conditioner needed turned on, took two hours to cool down. Large room. Dirty carpet and needs updated. Cleanliness fair. If my husband wasn't so tired, I would have left. People it appeared was living there or staying long term.
The front desk staff was friendly and gave us a slight discount on room rate and pet deposit. Well the hotel rooms are super nasty. The room I stayed in smelled so bad of dog urine. When we first arrived to the room I stepped in a huge wet spot on the floor. I put a towel over it and it was pee as the towel turned yellow. I went to the front desk and they gave me a bottle of room freshener. I was so tired from all the commotion of evacuating that I sucked it up and dealt with the terrible smell. Every patch of grass around the hotel had dog poop everywhere. I know it's the pet owners responsibility to clean up after their pets, but if the owners are not then the hotel needs to have the grounds keepers clean it up. If you stepped on any patch of grass on this property you had a 99% chance that poo was gonna be on your shoes. I would not recommend this hotel!!!!
Check in was a breeze and the front desk clerks are great. Very helpful and nice. The price was very economical for a one night stay. The room was clean and so was the bathroom. There a ton of stray cats in the parking lot adjacent to the hotel. The pool looked nice and overall this was a nice, quiet place to stay. We would absolutely stay again another visit to to Georgia Southern.
I stayed here Wednesday June 21st. This is an old hotel and it is showing it age. The marquee on Main Street boast they were awarded best customer service in 2014. That was then this is now. Apparently a lot has changed, the young man who check me in was very friendly and pleasant. It all went down hill from there. My room lighting was dim and the room didnt have a clean feel to it. The sink had several cracks in it and were puttied which made it look worse. The internet speed was very slow. The next morning at 6 AM I woke up to take a cold shower. When I went to breakfast I met a guest leaving the office and he had a cold shower but Joseph at the front desk told him he was the only one to complain. When I told Joseph I had a cold shower also he changed his tune. I met other guest in the breas the first morning in 3 days that they were serving coffee. By the way skip breakfast it is pretty slim pickings. This place is held together with duct tape and baling wire and apparently without any resources to keep it up. Stay at your own risk.
Room was large, clean and the bed was very comfortable. Includes fridge and microwave. Room was quiet and AC worked well. Soft towels in bath. Water pressure in shower could have been a little better but was not too bad. Only complaint was the WiFi did not work well, or at all. Breakfast was standard for the chain - nothing special but very adequate. The outside of the facility looks a bit rundown, but no real problems. Overall, a great value
Front desk staff was quite friendly at check-in, but the positives pretty much end there. My "nonsmoking" room had a faint smell of smoke (may have been a smoking room before) and mold (especially in the closet). Carpet is old and stained, furniture is old, bedspread and skirt were old. Only the sheets and towels were clean in my room. Surfaces not that clean, one dead bug on the floor, an open seam in the ceiling above the shower, etc. Rooms are exterior corridors, so it's not a particularly quiet hotel, either. The trouble seems to be that Statesboro's nicer hotels are over twice as expensive as these "iffy" cheaper ones with mediocre TripAdvisor scores, so you're sort of stuck... Perhaps AirBNB is the way to go here? I'm not picky about rooms when I travel on business, and this was just not acceptable. Thank goodness I was traveling alone, and only here for one night.
Last night when we checked in, the motel employee behind the dead was very friendly. This morning was a disaster. I attended the complimentary breakfast at 9:25. It was closing at 9:30. I spent 5 minutes toasting a bagel and adding butter and cream cheese. The employee started reaching around me to put away food. Informed me breakfast was over. I reached into the fridge to grab a yogurt and get out of their way. He informed me I could not have the yogurt because it was after 9:30. That the bagel was ok because I started it before 9:30. Really? He made me actually put the yogurt back! Then told me I couldn't leave the area with the bagel. He had already put up all the chairs on the tables and there was no where to sit. Extremely rude when I questioned him about these policies. Do not stay here!
The WiFi did not work in the rooms. The rooms were okay. It included a microwave and refrigerator...which was nice. The pool is a salt water pool that looked nice...we didn't have time to use. I got very sick after eating the breakfast. I believe the egg was bad. Very disappointing. The air condition rattled all night long allowing for very little sleep. There were very few people staying, but yet they put us upstairs. The staff at the front desk spoke limited English which made it difficult at times to converse. Probably will not stay here again.
