Although this is a nice venue to host an event. I would not recommend renting the banquet room or staying at the hotel after the way we were treated by the hotel's owner Hazrat Raymond. We reserved the banquet room for a event for 50 people. It was a formal occasion the hotel explained they would provide the tables, tablecloths, speaker system, and microphone. We were told we could arrive at the venue at 9:00am to set up on the day of our event. We arrived on time the tables were set up but the tablecloths provided were not what we expected. All of them were wrinkled and several had stains on them and one had some food particles still on it. When we asked about the tablecloths being wrinkled Mr. Raymond told us that they don't do that. He actually said he would give us a steamer to do it ourselves. When we pressed that they should have already been pressed and we paid him for the room with all the stuff he promised. He told us we could just leave and he would give us a full refund. We were appalled at his response. First the event was that night with out of town guest and tickets had been sold. I got his name let him know we had to have the event at his establishment because of the circumstances but I would be contacting corporate. We were brought a single steamer and had to do the tablecloths ourselves. The front desk clerk did replace the stained tablecloths. I would never want to deal with Mr. Raymond establishment again if this is how he treats customer. And our ball is an annual event. He just lost our business if he doesn't rectify how we were treated. A few pictures are below. The other wrinkled tablecloths are in my daughter's phone.
Passing through Statesboro in order to visit the Southern Georgia University Museum. For the price this was likely the best lodging on the trip. The breakfast bar had a waffle maker, coffee, cereal, etc.
Quality Inn typical with clean rooms and an average free breakfast. Nice location, close to everything including downtown and restaurants. Microwave and fridge in the room and they accept pets in certain rooms. Book on-line for the best rates!
I am pretty "brand loyal" to the Choice Hotel line. And I appreciate a property that is pet friendly. That said, the Quality Inn in Statesboro was a disappointment. Free Wi-fi is advertised. in 12+ attempts on the multiple wi-fi connections the hotel has, I was only able to connect 2 times and was abruptly dis-connected within a minute on both times. I gave up using wi-fi. Once in the room, I discovered a board running across the sink area from the wall of the room to the mirror on the wall above the sink and vanity. I'd like to say that it was there for me to hang up my shirt after ironing it in the morning, but I think someone must have left it behind while attempting to glue the vanity mirror to the wall. I showed a picture to the desk clerk upon check out in the morning to see if they might offer an adjustment on the rate, but no offer was given.
The staff here was extremely friendly, but the room we got was VERY unclean. We killed 2 cockroaches in the first 24 hours, and I’m not including the 1 we found dead when we got there, and the 2 unidentifiable dead bugs that were on the steps of the hot tub. I gave this room a 2 because my mother stayed here too, and her room was very nice and clean. We were there for my daughter’s graduation, so there were no rooms available anywhere else in town or we would have left. And breakfast is not really what I’d call breakfast. Plan on going down to Waffle House or Sonic (if they’re open).
Going to making a lot of trips to this area the next couple years so we thought we’d start trying out places to stay. Not so great on our first. The staff was friendly and the place was reasonably clean but the breakfast was terrible. I’ve eaten plenty of hotel continental breakfast before so I know what to expect. Their waffle mix and grits seemed watered down and the coffee was about the worst I’ve ever had. The rooms are also very outdated. Many of the Wall sockets didn’t work so we woke up to uncharged phones. Worst of all was the air conditioner made HORRIBLE noises all night. I did like the pillows though. Won’t be staying at this one again
This wouldn't be a bad hotel if they would just clean it. The lobby is dirty, the walkways have the same trash lying day after day. The laundry room is extremely dirty. Windows are dirty. The floors are filthy and I've never seen anyone mop. The towels and bedding are good and clean, so there's that.
Won't go back. The air conditioner needed turned on, took two hours to cool down. Large room. Dirty carpet and needs updated. Cleanliness fair. If my husband wasn't so tired, I would have left. People it appeared was living there or staying long term.
The front desk staff was friendly and gave us a slight discount on room rate and pet deposit. Well the hotel rooms are super nasty. The room I stayed in smelled so bad of dog urine. When we first arrived to the room I stepped in a huge wet spot on the floor. I put a towel over it and it was pee as the towel turned yellow. I went to the front desk and they gave me a bottle of room freshener. I was so tired from all the commotion of evacuating that I sucked it up and dealt with the terrible smell. Every patch of grass around the hotel had dog poop everywhere. I know it's the pet owners responsibility to clean up after their pets, but if the owners are not then the hotel needs to have the grounds keepers clean it up. If you stepped on any patch of grass on this property you had a 99% chance that poo was gonna be on your shoes. I would not recommend this hotel!!!!
Check in was a breeze and the front desk clerks are great. Very helpful and nice. The price was very economical for a one night stay. The room was clean and so was the bathroom. There a ton of stray cats in the parking lot adjacent to the hotel. The pool looked nice and overall this was a nice, quiet place to stay. We would absolutely stay again another visit to to Georgia Southern.
