After clearing customs, go to the small booth and you are welcomed with a refreshing peppermint towel, water and introduced to your personal driver. The drive from the airport is about 90 minutes and yes the last 20 minutes are on a very rough, hilly road. When we arrived at Jade Mountain, we were met by a team of people offering drinks, carrying our luggage, welcoming us and escorting us to our sanctuary. We stayed in JE3 (for some unknown reason we were upgraded to this Sun Sanctuary) located on the top room level on the southeast corner of the building. Upon entering the room, all I can say is WOW!!! This is a large sanctuary with a small fridge, coffee and tea makers, wine fridge, dining table, sitting area, lounge chairs, large bed, large, open air elevated (up 6 stairs) bathroom and a fabulous infinity pool. Not to forget a fabulous view of the pitons!!! Yes, the birds come into the room - just show them the squirt gun and they take off. No bugs that we could see. Infinity pool not heated, but not cold. Being on the east side, we had early morning sun, but no afternoon sun making the pool a little cool but usable in the afternoon. There is a power converter connected to a U.S. power strip so you can charge / use any electronics. There is a personal wifi in each room and it worked well. You receive a small cell phone to contact your Domo. Call him whenever you need ANYTHING. Need a ride to / from the beach - call. Need a hut set-up on the beach - have him call the beach attendant. Need drinks or a snack in the room - call him. You get the point. Meals / restaurant(s). We ordered breakfast in the room each morning. Why? Do it the first morning and you find out why. Place your order the night before and your meals are delivered at the time you specified and the food is outstanding. Nothing like eating a gourmet breakfast in your pajamas. We ate lunch at the beach restaurant on the main beach and one day we went to the smaller / secluded beach which is a 5 - 10 minute walk (or take the water taxi) and had the highly recommended burger. It was a really good burger. We ate dinner every night at the Jade Club. Why? Eat there the first night and you will know why. Service is impeccable. Food is outstanding. Something different every night. Get the bon bons (locally made chocolate treats) for desert. After our third night, the bartender knew our drink preference and would have them ready for us upon arrival. The sommelier remembered what wines we liked and how many glasses of white we had before switching to red. The house wines are delicious. Above the Jade Club is a great patio / deck where you can sit and have drinks and see great sunset views. I would strongly advise having a meal plan or do the all inclusive. We have been to many island and this resort (compared to others) ala cart would be very expensive The main beach is large and there are plenty of huts. Have your Domo call ahead and have them set-up your favorite hut for you. Activities - there are plenty of activities to choose from both water and land excursions. Or you can enjoy the beach and your fabulous sanctuary. House keeping did an outstanding job keeping the room spotless. Every afternoon a small snack box was left in the fridge and chocolates left at night. Depending on which level your sanctuary is located (there are 6 levels), you may walk a lot of steps. Make sure to read the books in the room about the history of the island and of the resort. One night after dinner we met the resort astronomer. She took time explaining the stars and moons and constellations. She was very knowledgeable, informative and entertaining! Tipping - it is a personal decision. We tipped because the service and attention we received was second to none. Everyone goes out of their way to make your stay first class and this is a first class resort. Message me with questions.
From the smiling face at the guest reception at the airport every expectation was exceeded. We read numerous reviews that had us worried about the car transfer to the resort. We are glad to say it was an easy one-hour ride to the resort was actually enjoyable. The taxi drivers were very safe and gave a fantastic educational tour about the island. After arriving to Jade we were brought to our “sanctuary”, which was the perfect word for our room. We had an idea what the sanctuaries looked like from the website but really does not to the room any justice. You don’t really understand how expectational the sanctuaries are until you hear the birds chirping, the peacefulness and feel the breeze. We had perfect weather and the fan above the bed kept us at the perfect temperature during our stay. The rooms were equipped with everything we could possibly need… you don’t even need to bring a toothbrush. The bed was the most comfortable we have ever slept in. The Majordomo brought us a 1980’s cell phone to contact them anytime! We never felt like a nuisance even with the hourly drink requests all night long. Ultimately the favorite part of our trip was heading up to the Jade Mountain Club to dine. The club is strictly for hotel guests and typically at breakfast and lunch we were the only one’s dining. Most guests chose to eat breakfast in their room. We did this the first day but then choose to eat at the club. We truly enjoyed interacting with the wonderful, smiling staff and we found the quality of some of the food to be superior in the club. The food was absolutely exceptional some of our favorites at breakfast was avocado toast, omelets with gruyere on top, and eggs benedict. Some our lunch favorites were chicken quesadilla, tuna nicoise, and fettuccine verde. Dinner was a completely different multi course menu every night. TRY EVERYTHING! We really enjoyed the phenomenal live entertainment every night at dinner from 7-10. For activities we really enjoyed being on the beach and reserving cabana number 14 or 15. They set everything up for you and it is full service. The stairs to the beach are doable but if you prefer your majordomo can arrange transportation to and from the beach. We took a mountain bike trip with Bike Tyson… they guy is incredibly funny and can make a coconut fall of a tree by looking at it. The bike tour can accommodate any fitness level and a must to see the plantation ruins. We heard from other guests on the that volcano, sulfur spring tour they felt pressured by non-hotel staff to tip at the 3 different stops. Every night our Majordomo drew a rose filled bath for us after dinner. The sunset cruise is a must and takes you right to the base of the pitons. It was a great chance to mingle with the other guests. It was such a special place and the staff will meet your every need. For example, one afternoon we asked for ear water drops at the dive shop and they were out. They must have run to town to purchase and they returned with them at dinner for us. The attention to detail is unlike any you will ever receive anywhere else.
First and foremost, great staff! Warm, courteous, friendly and engaging. From up the mountain, down to the beach, management, major domos, waiters, maids, drivers, activities staff there is a uniformly effortless ability to make guests feel welcome and attend to their needs. Full marks to the whole team! Lovely large rooms (sanctuaries!), all a little bit different in layout and having different views, but equally comfortable. The soporific sound of water in the rooms with pools and the sounds of the forest in those rooms without pools can lull you to sleep at any time of the day. We experienced and enjoyed both types of rooms. It took us no more than one night to adjust to the “open air” living. The absence of TV’s and room phones is a real plus for those seeking quiet time. The (provided) mobile phones were efficient in connecting with the major domos and reception. In-room Wi-Fi was fast and had a strong signal with our own booster/router. The bathrooms are spacious and well accessorized. The Jade Club Restaurant was excellent for breakfast and dinner. We enjoyed magnificent views, relaxing ambiance, a diverse menu of first class cuisine and a good wine list, accompanied in the evening by the very best local musicians we have ever experienced anywhere in the world (+94 different countries!) There are two beaches to enjoy, both well maintained and serviced by staff. They are public beaches, but we were never hassled by peddlers at any time. Beach loungers are readily available and well shaded, if required. Wait-staff were attentive and quick to bring drinks/food. There is interesting snorkeling and diving to enjoy just off these beaches or a short boat trip away. Best done when the sun is out because the gray/black lava sand tends to make the underwater vistas quite dark. Both beaches have relaxing and casual bars. Detractors to our stay included a hard bed with thin linens; parts of the hotel are starting to look tired/dated; we had booked a room without pool in the belief that the pool near the Jade Club was open to guests. This is no longer the case and we were thankful in being offered a room with pool for our last two days. With a location on the side of a mountain, there are a lot of steps to climb for meals and to get to/from the beach. The hotel offers shuttles to those who wish to avoid the climb. However, we didn’t use or need the shuttle and benefited from the extra work-out!
This place is jaw dropping......seriously....amazing does not describe it. We stayed there April 6-11, 2018 and it is spectacular. From the moment you step foot in the resort to the time of departure there is nothing but excellence!!! The infinity pool room we got....with one small exception we never left it....For those appreciating privacy, luxury and unique travel places THIS IS IT!!!!! Try the chef on wheels its an incredible experience. If you didn't go there to have a honeymoon in the first place, well, you cant help but experience it.Our Major Domos (butlers) Allan and Junior were beyond amazing!!!! The food is outstanding and beds are yummy.
Just back from a few days at Jade Mountain. It was beyond fabulous!! Arranged through Amex we were upgraded to the most spectacular room with a view of both the pitons and the bay. Jaw dropping!! Our domos, Fillander & Ain, couldn't have been more professional, personable and helpful in making every day more special than the day before. Lunches at Anse Mamin, tours, snorkeling, spa and fitness room, etc. And did I mention the night sky? I could go on and on. My only constructive criticism is that the music stops at 9:30 pm: too early, but boy did we have fun dancing till it did. We've yet to return to the same island or hotel, but we will go back to Jade Mountain.
We spent a spectacular week at Jade Mountain. From the moment of our arrival we were treated like royalty. Our room, JE2, was on the top level of sanctuaries, wonderfully situated right below the Jade Club restaurant. Our major domos, Christus, Vito and Okeda made every whim possible. They delivered the most incredible breakfasts every morning, arranged outings, spa treatments and even a special anniversary dinner on the beach. Every single person we encountered who worked at Jade or Anse Chastanet, it’s sister resort, was welcoming and friendly. We finished our scuba certification with Keither and took a couple of other dives including a fantastic one at Pinnacles with Dave. Boat captain Felix and first mate Joevan were always helpful and cheerful. Don’t miss the burgers at Anse Mamin (especially when Louis is cooking!), the plantation tour with Meno, aka “Father Nature”, or a drink - or better yet rum class - with Yannick. We were fortunate to be there during a special food event and had a spectacular tour of the resort’s Emerald Farm with their consulting Chef Allen Susser followed by an incredible cooking lesson and lunch with Chef Elijah. The food was overall out-of-this-world, the freshest fish, vegetables and fruits made for incredible tastes. We had an amazing time on the sunset jazz cruise with a double rainbow and a large group of dolphins who raced our boat. We have traveled many places throughout the world and Jade Mountain was by far the most romantic, relaxing and picturesque trip - we will be back, soon!
They make you feel like a king & a queen, butlers, privacy, view, pure luxury...stayed at the top of the mountain room...no view like it...infinity pool, open room, shower, private bridge to each room, restaurant on the top of the mountain, new menu every night by world renowned chef, 50th bday present, never better
My husband and I just left Jade Mountain..we stayed 3/23-3/28. It surpassed all expectations. We were there for our anniversary, and we always do great anniversary trips, but this just won! We actually plan to return next year and we have never repeated a spot. It was perfection. The room was amazing. The pool was huge! It's not a plunge pool, it's a whole pool! I kept thinking I should upgrade, we booked the star, but I am so glad I didn't. There is no way you need a bigger pool. It's the perfect temperature; refreshing during the day but warm enough to still use at midnight. The view is heavenly. Star gazing at night was just beautiful. Up on the Jade Mountain Club rooftop the star gazing was enhanced by the wonderful staff member (I KNOW I'm getting the name wrong but it was like Winsette) who guided us through the constellations and mythology. The major doumos were so prompt, helpful, and just downright awesome. Reynold and Davidson were the ones we interacted with the most and just made everything great. They brought an entire cooler of ice for us! We did the All Inclusive plan and that is a MUST!!! We never thought a second about how much anything cost because it was all covered. It makes the whole vacation even more stress free. We did not leave the property the entire time. Next year, we will go on some more excursions, but really, it's heaven there. Why leave. The beach is beautiful and snorkeling is great. (There are little jelly fish that sting so be aware) There is a hike up Anse Mamin to old haunting plantation ruins. We were unsure what no air conditioner on a tropical island would be like..No fear there! It was perfect and we never slept better. Between the breeze, the fans, and the sunburnt skin, I was cool. I never saw a single mosquito or bug either!! A few birds would come in to the table and clean up our leftovers from breakfast, but they were not a bother. I loved watching them. A beautiful little yellow finch was my little buddy and would help himself to my scraps every day, then fly away. We helicoptered in, which I really recommend! It gets you to paradise even faster and is such an awesome way to take in the island. We took a luxury sedan out. It gives you an idea of the island. It is an hour drive, windy, but just fine. I get very motion sick and did not have an issue with either the helicopter or the drive. There is nightly live music and it's great! I loved listening to all the different music each night. The food it top notch! Just delicious and the menu changes every day. There is always something on it that pleases every palate. My husband does not like fish, but there was always a non seafood option that he loved. The ONLY thing I regret, is that I couldn't stay longer. I have about 360 days until I return..
My husband and I were very fortunate to spend three nights here, then four nights at Sugar Beach. It was great to enjoy two totally different experiences. We stayed in the Star Sanctuary. I loved it because the Infiniti pool didn’t take up the whole edge of the open room. We still had a patio area to lounge in. The service is second to none. Everything is well thought out, room service is superb. Everything or anything you want is yours. Just ask. Bento box in the refrigerator is changed daily. Snacks delivered anytime even a midnight snack menu. The spa was very nice and we had a lovely couples massage. Prices were $220 for a couple which we felt was a very good price, especially for a five star resort. If stairs and hills are an issue it can be tough for some. They will arrange to help whenever possible to transport you and offer shuttle service. We personally loved the second beach that was about a ten minute walk from the main beach. The restaurant there served awesome burgers so don’t miss it. There is an option for a helicopter to take you from the airport to the resort. We didn’t know this and should be something to look in to. Not sure what the cost is. The ride from the airport to the hotel is about an hour and the ride up to Jade Mountain is beyond bumpy. It’s treacherous. Definitely opt for the meal plan. You get whatever you want. My one complaint would be the food. My husband and I are used to great restaurants and really don’t mind paying for a good meal. The room service as I mentioned was , breakfast was delicious when we had it delivered. The Jade Mountain Club was the best choice but still found it to be spotty. For example, the appetizer we had one night was a tuna tartare. It was off the charts delicious. Next course was fois gras. It was over cooked and not good. The main meal of steak was fabulous, kingfish a little dry. The other restaurant choices just weren’t good. Apsara is heavy Indian focused and neither of us liked it. We went to the Treehouse and looked at the menu and left. Went back to the Jade Mountain Club. In need of big improvement on the food. Otherwise this is a very special and unique spot. Sugar Beach nailed the food. Had amazing room and amazing food every day. We did a beach cottage there. See my review under Sugar Beach.
This was our first time in St Lucia and OMG....This place was spectacular! Not our first time in the Caribbean, but its the first time we've ever discussed coming back every year to a place. Plusses: #1 the view (come see to believe); #2 Anse Mamin beach (you will want to go every day (way better than the big beach at Chastanet), quiet, secluded, bar, excellent burgers (seriously, Food Network should feature them); #4 the room... We stayed in JA2 which is smaller of pool rooms but it was just perfect; #5 the food was pretty damn good. Minuses: Chastanet beach bar bartenders sucked. They need training big time. When you order a bloody Mary and he had to ask you if you want alcohol in it, that's a problem. Then he didn't put any in and we had to get shots to make it right. C'mon now!; #2 Not really a minus but just a word of caution... the steps in this place can be off putting so be sure you're ready to walk. Great shuttle service but not to the restaurant all the way up top. Ok, we did the Thursday night Jazz Cruise and it was pretty good. The Spa is nice and offers good services but not the best massage I've ever had. Extremely nice people there, both staff and other guests. Major domos do an awesome job. This place is my new favorite.
