What a treat! Fond doux is a charming resort of only 15 treehouses. Set in the Fond doux cocoa plantation you never get the feeling that you're in a resort. Your tree house is your retreat. With stunning views from the veranda across the rainforest and your own plunge pool it is wonderful. The staff are always friendly and helpful, the food always delicious and the scenery stunning. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday that's a little bit different this is it!
Fond Doux is a perfect property for persons seeking relaxation, warmth and beauty in a lush environment. It is like staying in the heart of a botanical garden. Guests can enjoy the quiet and beauty of the rain forest and then take four to six hours at beach between the Pitons via the free 20 minute Fond Doux Shuttle to the beach. There are excellent restaurants on the property and nearby resorts. The staff is consistently friendly and helpful.
Stayed for 3 days and loved the place. We stayed in Chalet style accommodation (ours was called Cinnamon Villa) and felt as if we were right in the rain forest. We were a bit worried about mossies but we had no bites at all! The staff were so friendly and Alec the Barman was just great fun and there were always a few people round the bar chatting away. The food was really good and in the restaurant we would particularly mention Lecia who was lovely.
It's taken too long to post this review, but back from paradise meant back to the grind and crazy hours of worklife. There's just genuinely not enough nice things I can say about this resort and the people that work there, as they are the real spirit of what this place is all about. Everyday was filled with smiles and jokes and you felt like you were away with friends & family. My partner and I stayed for 12 days; lucky enough to experience both a jungle and hilltop cottage, both which I would eaaaaaaaaaasily recommend. The rooms are spacious and have a fantastic old world vibe. From a price perspective, having visited most of the top resorts in and near Sourfriere during our stay, I can also hand on heart say quality is equivalent, but with a price that left us smiling. There are some fantastic places to eat in Soufriere, which Fond Doux stands shoulder to shoulder with, but fantastically the staff also have some great recommendations for local restaurants and bars when you want to try something a bit different. The owners, Lyton and Eroline, were wonderful. They'd always socialise with the guests, having a drink at the bar in the evening, chatting at breakfast...wherever and whenever we bumped into them it was always a lot of fun. 2 very cool people. I think it's safe to say we had a memorable and wonderful trip and will almost definitely be back soon to see the gang. Missing this place everyday.
We had booked a long time in advance through booking.com to secure a nice cottage in this wonderful plantation for a good rate. It did meet our (high) expectations: it is a beautiful plantation with very nice cottages and several wonderful pools with a great view of the surrounding hills. On our arrival we got a tour of the entire plantation, cacao making facilities, gardens and pools by a very kind guide, Omo (short for Omoralla I believe). He showed us the many plants and flowers of the garden. Our cottage was very nice and clean, with a four-poster bed, separate toilet, separate bath and our own balcony overlooking the garden. The room also had a fan, which was not necessary in the winter season. Not that it was cold, at night it ''cooled'' down to 22 degrees centigrade. Breakfast was excellent and very extensive, a large variety of fruits, your choice of omelet or fried eggs, coffee, cacao tea, fruit juices, bacon, sausages, fish cakes, bread, salad, ham, cheeses, yoghurt, too much to mention really. Very friendly staff too. The only thing I could mention is that the 'hi folks, how are you doing' may be appropriate for most (American) guests, but we found it a bit awkward at times. I will review lunch and dinner separately, but we had dinner in the Bamboo restaurant on all nights we stayed at the plantation. All in all very recommendable and my first choice if I would stay in one hotel only on St. Lucia.
We have just spent 3 nights in Fond Doux. The staff are all very pleasant and want to make you welcome and your stay very special. The bar and restaurant are great value and again, the staff are lovely, especially Alec and Alicia
This is my second time to Fond Doux and we opted for a canopy view which was stunning. I still love the outdoor showers and how authentic the plantation feels. Our room was spacious, light and mosquito free :) We will definitely be coming back .
Just got back from a four-night stay in the avocado cottage with my mom and sisters - we had the best time! Since we did not rent a car, we loved that they offered a free shuttle to sugar beach and took advantage of that every day. The buffet breakfast was fantastic with a wide variety of fixings, our favorites being the fresh fruit, mini smoothies, and made-to-order eggs. We had dinner at their restaurant, Bamboo, twice and it was very good - and also had so much fun dancing (poorly) to the (seriously AMAZING) in-house band there on Saturday night. Special thanks to the owners, Eroline and Lyton, as well as, Lecia, Alec (thanks for the pour-ups and rum punches, doctor!), Vienne, Gregor, G, Phoebe, and everyone for an unforgettable trip and for making us feel so welcome right from the airport pickup to the last morning when the staff at breakfast decorated our table and sang 'Happy Birthday' to me - so sweet. Our only regret is not having enough time to try all the hiking trails on the property and other activities in the area - so we'll have to make it back soon!
We had a great week here living in our rainforest cottage, walking the estate trails and learning about cocoa manufacture and all the local flora and fauna. Staff are extremely friendly and there is a real family feel. Live music with dancing on a couple of nights added a bit of excitement. The resort (this doesn't really describe it, it still feels like a plantation) is inland , But there's a courtesy bus to a beautiful beach. There's an excellent breakfast of local produce, lunch is also very good (a la carte rotis are excellent). Dinner menu is more limited so we dined out a few times although the taxis fare is steep. Our room was well equipped if a bit dark and it took us a few nights to get used to the jungle noises - including heavy rain. The owners made us very welcome. An unforgettable experience.
This place was absolutely fantastic! I loved the food and the band that was playing. The service here is great and the staff is so friendly! I had a lovely chocolate mousse and an awesome chocolate cocktail as well. Fond Doux Plantation and Resort is an absolute must see!
