St. Helena Wyndham Extra Holidays

"I loved getting up in the morning and having the made-to-order breakfast. Granted, the choices were limited and after a day or two repetitious, but so is a buffet which is mass-produced. During the day the place was abuzz with people cleaning the pool, washing windows, blowing leaves. The folks at the front desk went out of their way to accommodate us. One felllow, DJ, actually went across the street to assure us that we could have an appointment for a tasting. It is a small and intimate place. Really quite lovely. Rutherford itself is not a bustling town and we ended up having dinner twice at the Rutherford Grill bar two of of the three nights. The Grill is pretty much the only game in town for a dinner reservation, and it was maybe a one minute walk from the door of the hotel to the door of the restaurant. MY wife agrees: no complaints."

"The property itself is beautiful. It's quiet in terms of location and it was designed so perfectly for the area. It's a short drive to the main street of St Helena. The amenities are nice and the staff was pleasant. However, I was in the room right above the lobby and I could hear everything: doors slamming, music playing into the night, people coming and going. All I could think was they could hear me as well. The staff also ignored my 'do not disturb' sign on the door handle. I stayed for two nights, I did not need towels replaced or the bed made. However I went back to my room after my first night to my door wide open and the staff inside. Then they placed the sign back inside the room. So that was a little frustrating. Overall it was a great location and good stay. "
