Sand Castle on the Beach

Put my dad up here because he loves the beautiful beach on this side of St Croix. The staff was incredibly inviting and kind and the cleaning crew was so sweet to my dad who is elderly. The only downside was we came near Easter and there were tons of campers who tended to made noise at night. This was obviously beyond the hotel's control. Overall I'd recommend this just for the friendly and small town atmosphere alone. The Beachside Cafe also has an arrangement whereby you can sit by the hotel pool steps from the beach and enjoy their full menu.

Very helpful front desk staff. Nice room w comfy bed for price. Great beach & fantastic Sunday brunch. Arranged cabs to airport.

Just a great place stay relax enjoy the beautiful sunshine and Beach great place

Hotel staff was polite and friendly...front desk agent was realm nice and made my stay worth it.

The women at the front desk were nothing short of a delight as well as all the other staff and cleaning crew. You just need to keep your mind that St. Croix is not the Maldives and is an island that has a local community, that has somewhat suffered poor economic times. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT VISIT FREEDOM CITY SURF BOARD AND GRILL even as it is right there if you get off a cruise ship, go one beach north to Rainbow Beach. At Freedom City we waited over 1.5 hours for food service which ended up being FROZEN shrimp on a stick served by a waitress with a VERY BAD attitude, the bar staff had a disgusting attitude and we saw one of the staff out front beating his dog hard with a stick while holding the dog to the ground. This venue could have ruined my vacation with the experience we had there but thankfully the hosts on the boat trip to beautiful Buck Island were wonderful and jet skiing on Rainbow beach and the bar there were fabulous. Snorkeling out front of the hotel was lovely, try to get to snorkel under the pier when the ships aren't in. Christiansted is cute, Fredricksted was closed a lot but lively when the ships came in. Overall it was a wonderful stay with the beachfront hotel, free kayaks, great service. Would totally recommend it as long as you keep in mind that the appliances are not Moen and top end because you are on an island with a lot of unique history. Met some GREAT folks at the hotel also staying there, everyone was relaxed and friendly in that environment.

NICE LITTLE RESORT OUT OF THE CITY-ALL GUESTS WERE FRIENDLY AS WELL AS THE RESORT STAFF-THE RESTAURANT FOOD AND STAFF WERE GREAT(IT'S TOO BAD THEY AREN'T OPEN EVERYDAY)-THE SNORKELING WAS AWESOME AND THE BEACH HAD TO BE THE BEST ON THE ISLAND-MY WIFE AND I CERTAINLY ENJOYED THE BEACH LIFE!

Friendly staff and patrons made this hotel worth the money.

Sand Castle at the Beach was as advertised . It was a very laid back atmosphere with a nice beach and excellent restaurant. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Although it is an older facility and not the fanciest of accommodations, the hotel was well kept and in my opinion preferable to the bigger resorts. The neighborhood surrounding Sand Castle isn't the best but not horrible. I have no problem recommending this hotel and would go back there in a heart beat. With a rental car, it was very easy to get other attractions on St. Criox from Sand Castle. Strongly recommend renting a car.

The hotel was very nice and clean and on a beautiful beach! Staff was very friendly. The only thing I didn't like was that the restaurant and beach bar were closed a couple of days during the week. Other than that, it was a beautiful place!

We really liked being near Frederiksted compared to Christiansted. Right on a sandy beach. Staff was friendly and helpful. Intermittent hot water; understandable considering the challenge of fresh water on the island..

Sand Castle is a fantastic value and beautiful location. Not particularly fancy but very authentic. Natural surroundings and spectacular views. This is a quiet place and while we were there- it was a refuge with no children or rowdy partiers. On an early morning a pod of dolphins swam by. An iguana greeted us the first day and cute geckos are a common site. Very laid back environment and surprisingly superb restaurant. On several occasions after exploring the island we rushed back just to dine in the restaurant which closes at 9. The staff are great. Very helpful warm and welcoming. We definately will return.

I took my lady on a last minute trip and based on reviews I found on this website, chose Sandcastle. Located on pretty remote beach, Sandcastle was beautiful. The room was basic, but, all we needed. Didn't spend a lot of time there. Food was great, staff awesome! Bruno will make you laugh....Hard! Scott was great behind the bar. Irma and Sparkle will help with anything. Simone was a sweetheart! Only things, restaurant not open on Tues and Wed. wish the bar was though. A couple additions to breakfast would be nice, cereal, oatmeal, peanut butter and milk, at least. Would definitely go back!

When my wife and i got to this resort, i couldnt believe we had the entire each to ourselves (almost). the rooms could have been better but i loved the peacefulness. They staff was the best!

Great Staff, very helpful and kind. Room Views are beatiful.

Nice people, laid back and very accomodating. They opened the kitchen for us (closed at 9) the first night when we got delayed at the airport taxi stand. The restaurant (beach bar too) is excellant and carries a great reputation amongst the island regulars and the guests. The restaurant is closed mid-week so plan ahead....Fredricksted is pretty quiet, but we knew that when we booked this hotel and there are a couple of good alternative restaurants in F'sted. Hotel is "gay-friendly" but not over the top or flamboyant, so we felt comfortable. Probably not a family place; but more of an adult get -a -way- destination. The beach is one of the nicest on the island. Definately rent a vehicle and explore this large island, bring a GPS that is island friendly, carefully learn to drive on the LEFT. This hotel is a great value.

A warm and friendly greeting from the Owner's and staff. Spectacular beachfront location; quiet, with proximity to historic Fredricksted and not overly isolated from Island residents. Safe. We quickly became 'best friends' with several of the other guests, which would have happened even without the shared poolside happy-hour every evening. Some of the best snorkeling on the island is right here. LGBT couples were entirely friendly and warmly welcoming to us and other male-female couples. All people mixed happily and respectfully here: Islanders and visitors all enjoy the beach and the excellent restaurant, together. This was one of the very best vacations we have ever had; it was very hard to leave. Don't expect a 5-star gated private resort; that is not what this place is about. This place is all about experiencing St. Croix and welcoming a diverse and engaging guest community. No late night partying or noisy heavy drinkers. Just great conversation while watching the sunsets.

The hotel staff made us feel very welcome here and the hotel has a nice location directly on the beach.

We came to St. Croix to attend our niece's wedding. Of the few places to stay near Fredericksted, we chose Sandcastle. It was the perfect location. We enjoyed our complementary breakfast each morning at the Beachside Cafe just steps from the shoreline. The water is crystal clear and the beach all sand. Perfect!!! It was hard to leave, and we hope to go back again.

The hotel was very nice. The only thing, they didnt change sheets on a regular basis. Also the cafe was not open every day, but was very excellent food.

When my husband picked the Sand Castle on the Beach, I had my reservations: he doesn't have a great record on this account. However, both of us really loved the atmosphere, the location (hey, it's *on* a quiet stretch of swimmable beach), the amenities (e.g., the outfitted kitchen; outdoor restaurant), and the physical space. Two things, however, made our paradise complete: every one of the staff is helpful, friendly, and considerate; and it's possible and even encouraged to "power down," so that we were able to make this an utterly relaxing vacation--our first to the Caribbean, by the way. Forget trying out other islands or even other inns: we'll absolutely return to the SCotB!
