About the neighborhood
St. Augustine
Located in Davis Shores, this vacation home is adjacent to Tolomato River and within a 5-minute walk of Anastasia Island Mini-Golf. The vacation home includes a kitchen, a patio, and a sofa bed.
Located in the historic Lighthouse Park neighborhood, this charming 1940s coastal cottage is easy strolling distance to the Lighthouse, Alligator Farm, mini-golf, cafes & more! It is only a 0.8-mi walk to the Bridge of Lions, where you can walk over the Bay to downtown St. Augustine. You couldn't ask for a better location! It's on Anastasia Island so you're a short walk/bike/car ride from the beach & Ampitheater.
It's cozy, pet & kid-friendly with a big backyard and toys. Kayaks & bikes available! --- Our family has lovingly restored this charming old beach cottage and brightened it up with a classic coastal style. She's been named "The Inlet Cottage." Soothing whites and blues and plenty of seashells and coral will bring you to the peaceful seaside retreat you've been craving. Ample mature palm trees can be spotted all over the property and outside of nearly every window.
The cottage is cozy at 840 sq feet & will bring your family & friends together during your vacation. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed that is extremely comfortable. The second bedroom has two antique twin beds with comfy mattresses and an adorable turquoise sea theme. The sofa in the living room pulls out into a full-sized bed, in case you have a couple extra children or friends.
PLEASE NOTE that this cottage **most comfortably suits 4 people**, but the sofa bed is helpful if you have 6 people to accommodate. (Extra linens to make up the sofa bed are located under the twin beds and in the closets).
Smart TVs are located in each bedroom and in the living room.
The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cook big family dinners while on vacation. There is more than enough! There is cold water in the fridge door & an ice maker...crucial in this subtropical climate!
There is a dishwasher located in the island/peninsula and new toaster, microwave and coffee machine. Most of the appliances have a vintage style to add to the kitchen's cottage-y charm.
The corner cabinet has been converted into a cute coffee station that will start your adventurous days. There are extra mugs, coffee & tea in the cabinets above and below. There is coffee, filters, sugar, creamer & tea bags in the coffee station.
The dining table seats 4 people when round, but there is a leaf extension that will allow 6 people to dine. There are extra chairs located in the garage if needed. You can also dine under the large umbrella at the outdoor dining table, which seats 6 people as well.
Under the TV cabinet are board games, a toy box, and a booster & high chair for the little ones.
French Doors open up onto a lovely deck, where you can enjoy the salty breeze right off the inlet which is just across the street.
There's a little screened-in porch with two comfy chairs & a little table, with room to add a few more chairs if needed. Some seasons require a screened-in space in the South!
The cottage is just one house from the water (Salt Run inlet, which comes off of the Bay just before the ocean, which is where boats launch at the Lighthouse), so you get a fantastic breeze here! Some days you can smell that salty brackish bay water smell and it will make your heart skip a beat as you watch the seagulls, pelicans, herons, spoonbills and egrets gliding overhead.
If you walk to the end of our road & cross into the new subdivision, there is a pier there with a neat view of the inlet. It's nice for a sunset stroll. You can also head into the Lighthouse Park neighborhood for more inlet views between the kayak launch and the Lighthouse marina.
The cottage is located on a short dead-end street so there is very little traffic. Within walking distance is The Conch House, one of St. Augustine's best restaurants, in our opinion! They have a fun "Reggae Sunday" event, where reggae bands play on a floating dock and locals all climb on to dance to the beat. There is a gate in our backyard that takes you to that road, so it's a very short stroll to The Conch House! There is also a fun little bar (often with live music) on the pier here. Be sure to request a "crow's nest" table, if you go to the restaurant!
Just two doors down in the other direction at the beginning of our street is a Cheba Hut sandwich shop. Then you go just across the street from there and you'll be at an epic mini-golf experience with a huge pirate ship. If you go left at the end of our street, you'll wander into Lighthouse Park which is a stunning stroll full of oak trees arching over the street and historic homes full of character, history and interesting architecture. You'll find the Lighthouse here! There is also a public tennis court, skate park, kids park, boat ramp, canoe launch and more! If you were to just keep walking left by the mini-golf, you'll see that you are right next to the Alligator Farm. Now, if you were to turn right at the end of our street, you'll have less than a mile walk to the historic Bridge of Lions. Along this walk there are countless pubs, cafes, restaurants, boutiques and more to check out. The Bridge of Lions is so cool to walk across. You can linger and look at all of the boats and get a great panoramic view of downtown as you stroll this short bridge over the Bay. Once you're on the other end, have a cocktail a the Tini Martini Bar, dinner at Harry's and do a lap around St. George and Avilles streets. You seriously could not find a home with a better location to all that St. Augustine has to offer!
There are two kayaks in the cottage's garage which are available to guests to use (at your own risk, of course). There are paddles and life jackets (adult, kids, & a small dog life jacket). If you have a vehicle like a truck or SUV and a partner that can help you lift, you can get it on top of your vehicle and then make the very short drive around the corner to the canoe/kayak launch (Location details in our Guidebook). We also have 5 bicycles available for guests in there, too. They are beach cruisers and they're not "Insta-worthy" persay, as the salty air here will immediately give any bike handlebars rustic character. But they work great. We have a couple of helmets and a bike lock and air pump available. (Use at your own risk, of course. Please rinse the salty sand off if you bike on the beach--my favorite way to watch a sunset!).
There is a washer and dryer available to guests located in the garage as well. (Note: We supply a small amount of laundry detergent that can help with a single load of laundry and also the "check-out towel load", but for longer stays, you'll need to supply your own detergent).
There is a privacy fence for the backyard that is very secure, as we made it with pets & children in mind.
There is a patio around a fire-pit with Adirondack chairs which is really fun for S'mores nights! There are metal sticks in the garage for marshmallows. (Note: We do not supply firewood for the fire-pit, but we have recommendations on where to purchase firewood, or you can bring a bundle in your trunk if you are driving.) Landscaped around that is a newly planted garden. Sub-tropical and native plants surround the fire-pit patio. There are also party-lights gracefully strung around the Adirondack chairs encircling the fire-pit area.
While the cottage is primarily for vacation rental these days, the home is filled with personal antiques that we have collected over the years and we think it gives it so much more character than the typical IKEA-filled rentals. We hope you adore it as much as we do.
So come on down, bring your kiddos & pets, and enjoy a wonderful vacation in one of the most gorgeous places in the U.S. I'll have a Guidebook ready for you in the kitchen with all of our personal recommendations so you have a local's itinerary ready for you to make the most of your trip!

--- PETS
We do have a pet fee & few expected rules regarding fur babies. The cottage is dog-friendly (no cats). Message me if you are bringing a dog & we can chat. We prefer smaller dogs, but are open to discussion. We ask that pet owners make sure their dog is up-to-date on all flea & tick medicines. Please pick up droppings before checkout (a pooper scooper is in the garage). We keep "retired" sheets in the living room ottoman, so you can cover the couch and bed quilts if your dog is muddy or shedding. I will send you your customized keycode before your arrival via message and you can simply punch that in and gain access and have the ability to lock it that way, too. --- Guest access: Guests have access to everything on the property! spring break stay
This is a very nice cottage but did not feel it was as good a stay as we had hoped. It was well supplied in some items but lacking in others. No Kleenex, one roll of toilet paper, no large trash bags. One of the twin beds did not have box springs. It sank down terribly in the middle and was very uncomfortable. The couch in the living room was soft and offered no support. Very uncomfortable. Liked the location.

Just what my family needed!
We were very impressed with the cottage. It was family friendly, even offering a bin of toys. I loved how conveniently located it was to all that we wanted to do. The screened in porch was a perfect way to start and finish our days. Would definitely recommend!
The host was quick to respond when needed, very helpful and friendly.

Nice place in a great location
The house was a nice place which suited my wife and I very well. It was a short walk to the Allegator Farm and lighthouse in one direction and an easy walk into the historic district in the other. There were several restaurants within a few minutes walk of the house. We wound up doing very little driving.
We enjoyed our stay and will definitely consider staying there again on a return visit to Saint Augustine.

Cozy cottage
This cottage is very convenient to a lot of restaurants and an easy drive to historic areas and beaches. We actually spent a good amount of time at the cottage reading and relaxing. There is construction going on next door that created a lot of noise and traffic. Obviously this is temporary. Otherwise the cabin is nicely appointed and we took about two thirds of our meals at the cottage. We would come back if we plan another trip to St Augustine.

Boaters hideout.
This cabin is cute and just as described. Although we did not cook it appeared well stocked with everything needed. The king size bed was comfortable and the towels were nice. The outdoor spaces added to the charm. It is easy walking distance to the conch house marina for boaters needing accommodations.

Cute place with easy access to so much of the area
The house is charming! Reasonably updated and good condition. Loved the bikes and used them to get around most of the time. I was surprised how quick and easy it was to get to the fort by bike (took half the time as by car). If you are going for the beach, this house isn’t the closest but lots of great shops and food are within a 5 minute walk. Coffee maker can be a little tricky, if the pot is not in just right, the coffee will not drain from the filter to the pot. Also there were plenty of coffee filters but make sure you bring your own coffee! OH YEAH, the gate in the back yard goes to the back of chop house and when they are smoking meat, the amazing smell fills the yard and can really make you crave some BBQ.

Should have stayed longer!
Cute, clean, comfortable cottage with a fully fenced backyard for our terrier, a comfortable king bed, and all the amenities of home with much better weather. Close to restaurants, groceries, the Bridge of Lions, the Lighthouse, Beach, etc! Lots of things to walk or ride bikes to. The cottage is very centrally located for everything! In the interest of full disclosure, the cottage is very close to A1A, so there is some road noise in the back yard, but it’s very quiet in the evening and didn’t bother us at all! We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Great location to spend a month in St Augustine. We really enjoyed riding the bikes that were provided into historic downtown as well as to many wonderful restaurants. We couldn’t be more pleased with all the dog friendly beaches close by. The house had plenty of amenities and was very comfortable for the two of us and our dog.

Authentic Experience
This cottage was great for us. There was plenty of room, and there were plenty of amenities. For those who want a unique stay, this place is perfect. The condos being built all around the city detract from the overall experience that is St. Augustine. I'm glad the owners saved this little gem.

Amazing Cottage
No word better describes this property than "cottage". It was immaculately clean when we checked in with fresh flowers on the dining room table.
The kitchen is completely stocked with everything you will need. The coffee station was so cute and had coffee, coffee filters, and a large assortment of teas. The decor is very homey and comfortable without being fussy. The master bedroom bed is amazing. And, with two teenagers, the washer and dryer were beyond helpful!
We used the fire pit every night and made use of the grill.
The cottage is so close to everything. We drove to old-town, but a younger person could easily walk. My kids rode the bikes provided to putt-putt one night and to a "shaved-ice" stand another night and to the Alligator Farm.
They actually put down their phones and played board games on the screened-in porch at night. They also walked to a pizza place about 2 blocks away. We went to the Conch House Restaurant (just around the corner) which was so good!
The kids went to the beach using the chairs and umbrella from the garage. I'm telling you, this cottage is stocked!
We had a great time in this very comfortable cottage and we highly recommend it! We certainly plan on returning.

Sounded good but the reality was different
We booked and fully paid for this cottage in St Augustine in April 2021 for the month of February 2022. The description was that it was on a quiet dead end street with views of the water at the end of the street and views from the house of the masks of sailboats. Instead this house was surrounded by construction. Noise of heavy trucks no pounding hammers and air guns started every day at 7 and went 7ntil dark, 6 days week. Instead of the promised smells of the bay and salt flats we got diesel fumes and dust and a nearby portapotty. This review is likely irrelevant as these owners have wisely taken advantage of the crazy real estate market here and have cashed out. We feel like these owners had to be aware of the changed environment around this house as early as last fall and that we should have been notified and offered a chance to cancel and look for something else, or that they should have offered a substantial discount t to what was an expensive rental to begin with compared to others in the area. We were very disappointed with our stay and with these owners who did not let us know this was happening.

Beautiful cottage, awesome owners!
From the moment you walk into this little cottage you can see the results of the hard work and attention the owners have given this quaint reconditioned 1940s cottage. They have focused on making this a nice home away from home while preserving what they could of its 1940s charm. The cottage is in St. Augustine close to the lighthouse and the alligator farm. I highly recommend spending your first minutes in the cottage sitting down and reading through the guest guide book the owners have created for your review. It covers how they renovated and rejuvenated the cottage, all of its details and amenities, and even the information on the plants they have planted in the yard for the avid plantsman or those with just a casual interest to read. They detail the local sights and restaurants (and their recommendation of The Conch House was excellent!), as well as many other local tourist options. The cottage has all of the things that you might need for your vacation home including a stocked kitchen and bathroom, as well as a very comfortable king bed in the master bedroom. The second bedroom is set up for children with a toy chest if needed, but can be used for adults as well. We took our dogs with us and they loved having a fenced backyard to play in instead of having to go everywhere on a leash like is often required when renting locations near the beach. Even though this is in town, it is very sturdy and we did not notice the outside noises once inside with the door closed. There is a screened in area you can sit in at night to enjoy the outdoors without “enjoying” the bugs, as well. They have stocked the place with bicycles and kayaks, as well as other extras that might come in handy or be fun to use.
I will definitely be recommending this place to others when visiting St. Augustine! The owners are very nice and easy to talk/work with, and were very accommodating wherever possible.
Thank you!
