Amaya Hills is located on one of the hills overlooking the city of Kandy, offering a panoramic view of the city and surrounding hills. On arrival we were greeted by the very hospitable staff, from the hotel manager, the reception staff, the room attendants and the restaurant staff. The food was a mix of European and traditional Sri Lankan and while served buffet style was of the level of fine dining. Our room was immaculate, with a very good shower. We made use of the ayuverda spa and had a foot massage which was very welcome after a day of sightseeing. All in all I highly recommend Amaya Hills and its staff - many thanks for a great stay.
Personally I think that this is the best hotel we stayed in during this week. It has a lot of services to offer to the clients such as laundry service, message, palm reading and finally nice staff and good food. The view from Amaya hills is magnificent too.
We stayed for two nights in this beautiful hotel on the lush hills of Kandy. The service by the staff was excellent - very helpful and professional people who know their business very well. The food was one of the best we had in Srilanka with an excellent spread of local cuisine as well as a cast spread of European food for every tastebud. Thank you Amaya hills - definitely a hotel to remember.
View is great. Great place to have a cold beer! Food was wonderful. Staff was great. They had plenty of fun activities to do. Squash, table tennis and everything. Rooms were very clean. And there were monkeys near the room. Few of the came and grabbed some biscuits which i was having with my tea. It was really fun. Hoping to come again soon
The hotel was at a great location - one of the highest peaks surrounding Kandy. Great view and hotel. The breakfast buffet selection was extensive. Good service, great location, awesome room, fantastic views.
Arriving at the Amaya Hills, the receptionist took one look at us and informed my party that we were in the bungalows. "Oh dear, we've been downgraded," I thought as we were transported back down the hill to a separate outbuilding. Far from it. Imagine our surprise when we found ourselves in a private bungalow with a butler and our own chef. "You can have breakfast here tomorrow," we were told. Expecting a croissant and a glass of orange juice, instead we had a chef in full chef's whites and a range cooking omelettes and the most delicious Sri Lankan breakfast. I felt like Hollywood royalty. Thank you Amaya Hills for the most wonderful stay with the most fantastic views. Highly recommended.
We stayed two nights at Amaya Hills Hotel in Kandy, and had the best time! The hotel is located in the green and peaceful hills of Kandy - a perfect escape from the town’s noise and traffic! The air is so clean, and the views are breathtaking..... Each room has a privet balcony overlooking the mountains - the best place to watch a sunset. Great gym, and a pool. Big buffet with a great choice of local and international cuisines. Don’t miss the palm reader at the reception! Gunapala Silva is a men who gave us palm readings, which was so true!! He is definitely talented in palm readings. Refer to him for a car service, which is a better deal than a hotel car. Anna&Gita, January 2018
A very nice quite resort tucked away at the top of a hill, which took some real hair pin bends to reach... We took in the view when we checked in and had another cup of the ginger tea plus Jaggery which was soon becoming a habit... And then moved to the room /suite which was well laid out for us complete with two individual beds for my son and daughter. Although the bed was soft the room was nice including a small petite balcony which I enjoyed sitting in the next morning. We had dinner at the in house restaurant and after humming and hawing over the choices finally gave in to the buffet which did look like a nice spread and it did prove to be a good choice... Next day morning we were back at the same place although seated outside for sumptuous breakfast..... After playing ping pong we finally checked out and bid adieu to this beautiful place... Probably a second visit sometime in this lifetime, if it does happen will be well spent.... Very courteous staff who remember your choices quickly and help you along the way.... Truely a piece of heaven on earth as described by my friend.....
The views from Amaya Hills are celestial. Watching the sun set over the distant hills is stunning. Without this attraction, I would rate this hotel terrible. It is not so much that the place is tired and in need of major renovation. Even the lethargic breakfast (USD15 per person) could be excused. It is more the fact that too many of the staff have no concept of customer service. Some intense training is urgently required. Even the fact that on the weekend the breakfast service finishes at 9:30. Bad luck if you want to sleep in. Look elsewhere.
This hotel is situated a little outside Kandy, about 30 mins (with traffic) from the Temple of the Tooth. A nice respite from busy Kandy, with a beautiful outdoor pool to enjoy. This hotel also offers a spa with a menu of Ayuverdic treatments, a swanky bar and a palm reader (!) if you arrive at the right time. Ideal for families, they gave us a connecting room with a queen bed, and next door a double storey with a lounge area housing the third bed and a room upstairs with a queen bed.
