Fell in love with Amaya Hills Resort. Will stay at this property any time. The view is breathtaking. Reception we got when we arrived was unparalleled. The staff manning the Reception were so friendly. What amazed me the most is how quickly they could change a Twin Bed room into a King Bed room.
After a long day traveling, we arrived at the hotel at 8 p.m exhausted, just needing for a bath and bed to sleep. Surprisingly, The manager told us that because we're new clients, our rooms have been upgrade to big bungalows. They took us in a cab maybe 1km or more before we arrived to a bunch of isolated bungalows ! We entered inside and, oh God ! What a smell ! I'm sure that these huge bungalows haven't been used for ages ! I refused to sleep here for 2 reasons : first, the air was umbearable to breath, secondly we weren't honeymooners to stay far of people and distractions !!! They brought us back to the hotel where i talked to the manager, telling him that i don't want an upgrade. We just want fair rooms IN the hotel. All the staff seemed very embarrassed, telling us there were no more rooms left. Then, i understood the why of the upgrading : The hotel was apparently so crowded that our rooms had been given to others. Very tired and angry, i called my agent who by chance was in the hotel with another group. He promissed to fix the problem and after 1/2 an hour or more, we had our rooms at the 2nd floor with no elevator ! Can u imagine a hotel with no elevator ? Well, we spent our night and left on the next day. I don't want to be totally negative. The view from the terrasse was beautiful even though it was cloudy and a bit raining.
Amaya hills is located high above Kandy. Its highlights are a stunning view and an outstandingly friendly staff. From the trainee up to the resort manager - we always felt a high level of sense of care and customer orientation. Especially Rushni and Malith exceeded our expectations by continuously going the extra mile. The buffet selection is excellent. Minor improvement points are related to the rooms. The rooms are noise sensitive and the bathroom is not state of the art anymore. But overall the rooms are nice and always clean. The hotel furthermore features a discotheque which has been constructed in a lovely manner. Don't miss "le garage" if you stay here on a saturday!
Thank you so much for your warmth welcome .Special thank should go to Ms.Dulanjalee Nawarathne . She has upgraded our room in to Junior suite and we were over the moon. The day was special day for me to remember since my birthday was fallen on 4th November and Ms . Dulanjalee has organized me a surprised birthday cake. Thank you again and again all the staff for your nice hospitality during our stay. Hope to see you soon
My fiancee and I were spending three nights in Kandy (which was probably one too many) so we were looking for a place to escape to. We took a tuk tuk to the Amaya Hills hotel, booked a spa treatment each and relaxed by the pool. We ate lunch there from the extensive snack menu which was very good and the view is amazing. We did not stay any nights so cannot comment on the rooms etc but the staff we met were numerous and excellent.
Coming here after some of the more modern hotels in Sri Lanka is a bit of a let down. Showing its age a bit and the food not as good as some of the other jet wings. However view out over Kandy is amazing
My wife and I have just returned from a 21 day touring holiday in Sri Lanka staying in nine different hotels which were all first class, but our favorite was Amaya Hills in Kandy. Perched high up above the city the hotel had the most friendly staff and provided us with magnificent service throughout our stay, the food was great and of the highest quality. The accommodation we stayed we stayed in was "The Bungalow" slightly seperate from the main hotel building but a shuttle service was provided. It consisted of a large suite the was beautiful, there was a private swimming pool but best of all was the 24hr butler. His name was JALIYA and he was fabulous attending to what ever we required whilst seeing to be invisible, his service was amazing this was our favorite hotel on our holiday,it had fabulous friendly staff (especially Jaliya) we stayed on 5th & 6th of October 2017
The hotel is only good for its views. The rooms are very small and the bathroom has a horrible smell. I was promised that i wpuld get a surprise cake in my room nothing came through. Avoid eating in the buffet restaurant. The price is absolutely ridiculous. The hotel do not provide any excursion tours. They have a guy sat there who is a palm reader and will tel u your future lol. He just sticks to u and follows you very creepy guy. I wud t return to this hotel again. Hafsa the general managrr who i was emailing pripr to arrival didnt show up.once and all false promises. The food in this resort is ridiculous. Service of waiters poor. 3 stars are only for the view
Amaya Hills is a fantastic location with the most amazing views. My husband chose this to celebrate a special birthday and we certainly weren't disappointed! We chose to have a suite and this itself was top quality, spacious with beautiful views across the hills and wonderful sunsets. Without exception all of the stuff were very friendly and helpful, attending to our every whim. We were also introduced to the Management team on my husband's birthday, presented with a beautiful cake and our bed was decorated on several days with Happy Birthday, Swans and Elephants, and finally on our last night Goodbye!!!! We stayed for 7 nights and we got to know everyone there pretty well, and we are so pleased that we chose Amaya Hills and intend to return next year.
Visited after quite along time. The service was very good and the food was also very good. Beautiful location in the mountain bordering the city of Kandy. Will recommend this place to anyone who likes to have a holiday or function close to kandy
