+ easy access to Freiburg + calm surrounding + varied and quality breakfast + outside seating locations + extensive fitness + accommodating front desk + modern rooms - spa not included in price - no exclusive use of spa facilities - average value for price
Stayed four night. Good: The location was great, good food in restaurant. Front desk was helpful. Not far from bus stop to town or 22E in taxi. Bad: very little English spoken by most staff, no AC so the rooms were hot at night. The hot bath next door is not for kids even though they say it is. It's an adult therapeutic retreat and the average age of people attended was close 60. It's a clothing optional bath so be prepared, base on the last comment!
We've stayed for 4 nights with 2 kids. The hotel is very nice and the location in actually inside the forest! The hotel is connected to a big spa place that all of us really enjoyed especially the kids. Breakfast was ok, and the staff was also very nice.
The hotel has good facilities and the staff were very pleasant. But the bed was horrible!!! Romantic holiday with 2 single quilts, odd. It has a very corporate feel to it. Breakfast was delicious. The location was ideal so we could do sightseeing all over the Black Forest and never be too far. Not sure about the glass see through sliding door for the toilet.....also didn't add to the romance....!
Hotel - modern, clean & comfortable. Best part being adjoined to the Theme Spa with the wonderful hot springs. Dinner Menu choice a little limited but the breakfasts are plentiful with a great variety. Being English speaking a little German we did struggle understanding the hotel staff especially in the restaurant but we got by. Nice woodland walks surrounding the hotel. We had a very peaceful, relaxing stay.
Was so close to Therme and Spa center. Beautiful nice hote. Helpful staf. There are many nice Thermes around hotel max. 30 km. If you need a quite stay you should definitely choose this one. So close to BASEL airport.
We stayed there over Christmas, such a lovely hotel for Christmas Eve! The staff were superb! Christmas dinner wasn't the most impressive meal, however considering the amount of people and timing of the meals it was still quite good.
I stayed for three nights with my wife and the dog between Christmas and New Year. We enjoyed the stay. Everything is well refurbished and stylish. The service is friendly and efficient. Everything works. The bath is big enough the room was ok in size and the bed was very good. Everything was clean. The dog was welcome, he got a bowl and a blanket too.
My wife, her mother and I agreed to get away over Christmas so back in September we booked two rooms for the 24th-25th December. The hotel and wellness area are situated about 7KM away from the town of Freiburg, but the hotel does offer a shuttle service and there is a bus stop to get you into Freiburg should you so wish. We arrived on the 24th December at around 14:15 and were told upon booking in that the whole Wellness area was CLOSED for the rest of the day. Super. Why this was never announced when we booked the hotel, I find unacceptable. As a backup plan, we then drove into Freiburg and had a wander around the old town. The old town is very pretty but we found out that Christmas Eve is a Bank Holiday in Germany, or at least the afternoon is, as everything was again closed. Back to the hotel, the room was very modern and clean, and the beds are comfortable. Slight niggle with the television, it has an LED clock which obviously glows in the dark which is a little disturbing when trying to sleep. At 18:00 on Christmas Eve, there was a free apertif of sparkling white wine plus a Christmas story laid on by the hotel, plus a small Christmas present was handed out to the guests which I thought was a nice touch. The evening meal was a set menu of 4 courses and was cooked to a very high standard. The main course was duck, which was a little on the tough side, otherwise, the four courses were superb. The waiters and waitresses were all very friendly, professional and attentive, well done! The next day we went to the wellness area, which was thankfully open. This consists of a huge outdoor heated pool with bathing areas etc...Indoors, there are another couple of smaller pools, jacuzzis and a sauna area. I didn't go to the sauna area but it is naked only and quite large. The Wellness is also extra and not included in the room price either. The wellness bar restaurant area is good value and the food also cooked to a good standard. The following morning, we went to the breakfast buffet and that was a huge disappointment. The buffet is small, consisting of a few cheeses, cooked meats, bread, cereals etc. and the cooked choices were half-cooked bacon, greasy sausages and rubber scrambled eggs. There was an unenthusiastic cook on the counter making to order omelettes too. The breakfast buffet will set you back a princely sum of €17.50 and is not inclusive with the room. This is something else that the hotel did not make clear either at the time of booking or when we checked in. My advice is to not bother with the breakfast buffet but make your way to the wellness restaurant, the food is way better. The breakfast was something of a shock given the standard of the cooking in the evening.. After finishing the evening meals, both nights we made our way to the hotel bar. Service the first night was really good but the second night we ended up waiting nearly 25 minutes to be served as the barman was on his own and finally ended up getting hold of another member of staff to help him out. In conclusion, I have very mixed feelings about the hotel. Certainly, the highlights were the evening meals and the pool wellness area, but the non-announcement of the wellness area being shut on the 24th, the poor and over-priced breakfast plus bar wating times on the 25th Dec. took the edge off this visit for me. Don't think we will be going back...
The hotel is very quit en therefore great to sleep. In the middle of the forest but nearby the office, rooms have enough space to stay. Rooms are clean and beds are great. Bathroom is a little small but enough space for a nice shower in the morning
