The hot tub was under construction so not working and the stopper in the bathtub didn't work so we couldn't even take a bath. The mattress out of the couch and we were told the only extra "bed" ..Which we needed...was broken. They brought in a cot but the couch was unusable for sitting on. I waited for five long minutes at the front desk to get keys which quit working because staff was outside smoking.
Fan broke told them room hot without it pull out bed broke uncomfortable hot tub has not been operating since 2019 per maintenance guy the main reason we picked here it’s not 5 min walk to campus it’s 5 min drive to outer edge people smoking weed out front of hotel felt unsafe outside at night and in parking lot staff is very nice but a lot of things broke and they said they would order pool was nice breakfast was good until the scrambled eggs I about threw up water damage in our room in bathroom ac in 1 part of room fan in another fan was broke sweat all night would not stay here again very dissatisfied again staff was very nice and welcoming cops were there also you could smell weed in hallways

We enjoy our stay at this hotel. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast variety items appreciated. Our first morning there, there was only one person working the registration desk and breakfast. She did a great job and was able to do both jobs with minimal wait for both guests wanting to check out and breakfast, but it would have been nice to get some help especially during breakfast. I hope this was an outlier because this is the type of situation where you may lose a good worker.

Justin at the front desk was incredibly helpful. The room was big, beds comfortable, everything was clean. I had everything I needed. Breakfast menu was wonderful.

We got an upgrade, which I presume, meant a bigger room. I liked the offer of forgotten items, like tooth brushes, though I didn’t need to take advantage. The bed was very comfortable.

We enjoyed our stay. The amenities made it a comfortable location away from home. The workout area, the pool area, and the free breakfast was a asset to our stay. There were restaurants nearby, and a microwave and fridge in your room if you needed to store leftovers. The staff was pleasant. I would stay there again, if I had to visit South Bend again.
We were traveling across country and this Holiday Inn Express provided a much needed nights rest.
The staff were all polite and friendly. The room was spacious and breakfast was hot and tasty.
I'm writing this review because I caution people using Orbitz. Orbitz does not compensate you if you have a bad experience at a hotel and Holiday Inn will only give reward members 3000pts for a bad stay, nonmembers receive nothing. Unfortunately our experience was not the best. We called ahead to let front desk worker know we would be arriving around 1:00am. She said it was no problem. When we arrived we were locked out of the hotel and no one answered the front desk phone. After about 5 minutes, the front desk person got out of a car parked by the front door and she realized she locked herself out, she went outside to smoke and accidentally locked herself out. We eventually got in our room around 2:00am, the employee pushed the locked door off its track and then with my help we activated the automatic door, not too safe. This is all on the security camera tape.Then to top it off, she forgot to tell us breakfast ends at 9:30am (we thought it was 10am). We checked out at 9:35am and talked to the manager. The manager knew what happened the night before because she was called at 1:00am. When I asked for compensation she said because we booked with Orbitz she could not give us room credit but promised to give us rewards points. We received 3000pts. That is only one tenth of the points needed to cover one hotel night. I contacted Orbitz and they are satisfied with my meager reward point compensation. I understand things happen but someone needs to take responsibility.
