we had to go here after a horrendous experience at the Microtel. We were happy they had a room

We enjoyed our stay. The amenities made it a comfortable location away from home. The workout area, the pool area, and the free breakfast was a asset to our stay. There were restaurants nearby, and a microwave and fridge in your room if you needed to store leftovers. The staff was pleasant. I would stay there again, if I had to visit South Bend again.

We were traveling across country and this Holiday Inn Express provided a much needed nights rest.

The staff were all polite and friendly. The room was spacious and breakfast was hot and tasty.

I'm writing this review because I caution people using Orbitz. Orbitz does not compensate you if you have a bad experience at a hotel and Holiday Inn will only give reward members 3000pts for a bad stay, nonmembers receive nothing. Unfortunately our experience was not the best. We called ahead to let front desk worker know we would be arriving around 1:00am. She said it was no problem. When we arrived we were locked out of the hotel and no one answered the front desk phone. After about 5 minutes, the front desk person got out of a car parked by the front door and she realized she locked herself out, she went outside to smoke and accidentally locked herself out. We eventually got in our room around 2:00am, the employee pushed the locked door off its track and then with my help we activated the automatic door, not too safe. This is all on the security camera tape. Then to top it off, she forgot to tell us breakfast ends at 9:30am (we thought it was 10am). We checked out at 9:35am and talked to the manager. The manager knew what happened the night before because she was called at 1:00am. When I asked for compensation she said because we booked with Orbitz she could not give us room credit but promised to give us rewards points. We received 3000pts. That is only one tenth of the points needed to cover one hotel night. I contacted Orbitz and they are satisfied with my meager reward point compensation. I understand things happen but someone needs to take responsibility.

Hotel was clean. Check in was quick. Would recommend this hotel.

This hotel is not fancy but it is clean, convenient and has what you need for a weekend football visit to Notre Dame.

Upon arrival we were greeted by a woman at the front desk. She was very friendly and helpful. We were looking for somewhere to eat upon arrival with two little ones. There was a subway in the gas station near by but they were closed as it was Sunday around 8:00pm. So we bought soup at the gas station and went back to the hotel where we were able to warm them up in the hotel room. The front desk woman was able to give us spoons and napkins which was great since we did not have them or any other food options. There was coffee located in the lobby but not much else. I think that the area was not the greatest but we didn't explore to find out either. It was fine for a one night stay and it has a close proximity to Notre Dame if thats what you are in the area for. Overall it was just fine. Comfy beds, clean room, and decent breakfast. The only thing that I would say was that the eggs with continental breakfast were in water and it kind of grossed me out. Other than that it was a fine experience.

Room was large enough for two couples. Comfortable bed and pillows, proximity to ND is excellent. Walking distance to White Field.

Great experience at this hotel. Would Definitely stay again. Great location to stay at if you're going to a Notre Dame football game. Also the breakfast was super

Good Value. Met our needs for our visit to Notre Dame. Warm breakfast was not great, but it was free an includes fresh fruit, cereal and yogurt.

Great place to catch an overnight basketball game, location very close to stadium, always clean and staff always professional and nice. Breakfast too. If staying with family 2BR suite is great, best value in South Bend.

A very pleasant and convenient stay. Everything you want is near by.

Staff is always friendly. Breakfast selection is really good. Miss that the newspaper is not slipped under the door any longer. Not enough parking that is close to the entrance. Love the toiletry products.

Very comfortable room, clean quiet, staff very accomodating, good breakfast in nice area. All in all a verry good experience!

Room was great but when we got there our room didn't lock, we just pushed the door open. So instead of getting us another room, she called maintenance and we had to wait an hour for him to come fix it. Then I had asked for some feather pillows and they had none. I had asked for late check out and all she could give me was an hour later, considering we had somewhere to be at 4:30pm and check out is 11 am.

The hotel was nice and tidy. The staff was very frindly and it was nice and quiet. My only two complaints are that the pool was really cloudy and very cold (supposed to be heated) and the eggs for breakfast were very runny. The whirlpool was nice and worked well.

The Holiday Inn Express was very nice. The staff was helpful and friendly. The neighborhood is a bit rundown. There are no sidewalks to the main attraction, University of Notre Dame.

The staff was very helpfull in giving us directions. Breakfast was great.
