The desk clerk was friendly and positive. The place was clean. Beds were comfortable. View of locks was a bonus.
the hotel location is perfect to have a tour in the town. Think about the price, the hotel is wonderful.although the building a little aged, the room and hallway are very clean.
The elevator was broken for the 2 days we stayed. We were on the 4th floor! Bathroom light didn't work so changed rooms..new room did not have fridge/freezer or microwave. TV would not change channels - stuck on much music. Our room did NOT get cleaned at all. No one went in it! No kleenexs, shampoo, no made bed...I will NEVER EVER stay here again. I won;t even describe breakfast. Embarassment to the pretty town.
Check-in was delayed while we waited for the desk clerk to arrive and then finish her phone conversation - and then we were given a smoking room whereas we had a clearly identified preference in our reservation for a non-smoking room which the clerk denied [...]. The hotel is generally fairly grubby and very tired, but well located. Breakfast was decent and pleasantly served. The room was a good size and the view of the river was lovely, but the neighbourhood is pretty shabby.
I was there to see friends. Staff was friendly. Room was okay. View from room was nice (canal lock with park-like setting nearby). Breakfast was good. Would have appreciated a little more choice (I don't do pork). No fruit or other side things were offered. Had to skip breakfast Sunday, because I could not get waited on--the one waitress for the whole mobbed dining room was running around like a hen with her head cut off (I blame MANAGEMENT for that, not her).
When we stayed there a couple of months ago, hallways were dark, along with our 2 rooms. Depressing, and stark. (I did complain on a survey). This time the hallways were brightly lit, along with our room, so we could actually see!! One lightbulb was out in our room, but it wasn't a problem. We did reserve a "newer" room, so perhaps it was that much better.
