My initial reservation was for 2 weeks. After my first week as I was getting my invoice for my Travel Voucher, I was deciding whether or not to extend my reservation. I asked the Front Desk personnel if there were going to be any big events coming to San Jose within the next couple of weeks to determine how critical it was to make an immediate decision. I was told, "No." Regardless, I thought it would be prudent to extend my reservation an additional 2 weeks anyway. As I instructed one of them to make the extension, I watched her do "something" on the computer, which I assumed was to make the extension. One week later (today), I woke up to see an invoice shoved under my door - a telltale sign that the front office thought I was checking out. As I inquired via phone, the Front Desk said they saw NO extension. To add insult to injury, they were "willing" to give me one more night, because Monday and Tuesday were both sold out, and then I could return on Wednesday. Since I am in this area for a couple of months, I carry a lot of belongings and had purchased a refrigerator full of food. It is no simple task to pick up and move. Oh by the way, Luggage Carts are non-existent. It took me 6 trips to remove all I had brought and acquired from the grocery store. I have to conclude that the Front Desk personnel are very poorly trained and when their error is exposed, they did nothing to accommodate me, ignoring the loyalty I have displayed to them. It took quite an effort to find a hotel on short notice, but the Staybridge Suites near the airport came to my rescue.
This was our second stay at this place. We come to San Jose driving our own car and staying outside of the city center is a blessing. Short access to the Freeway and yet, almost no big city noise. Loved it! The rooms are very clean and their breakfast will definitely keep you full until lunch. We had a suite with the kitchenette and the shower/tub was also very clean. We left a review on Marriott site, also. Thank you!
Travelled for business and stayed at the Marriott. Pros: Rooms were nicely appointed Beds were comfortable, but not a fan of the pillows. Proximity to things grocery and restaurants within walking distance Small pool, sport court and nice patio area Has a small conference room - they hosted training class while I was there. Good breakfast and happy hour Kitchens are equipped with all that you need. Cons: Some amenities missing on these older hotels like USB, easy access power outlets. Some views are of fast food place next door. Limited parking -very few in front. Limited outlets in training room - had to buy power strips for everyone You only get 1 dishwashing tablet - you need more than this. -refill it everyday if you want me to do dishes.
I stayed in this hotel when I was visiting, the place is neat and the employees are very welcoming. I definitely consider staying here again. They offer a great service, answer all questions you may have go beyond they ways to help.
Easy to get to, easy check in, great staff, super clean grounds, very clean rooms. Good breakfast with even an overflow room to sit in. Great night sleep, VERY quite rooms. If back in the area this is my first choice for sure.
I was attending my cousins wedding and I booked two rooms. My first preference for stay is always Residence Inn. I love their breakfast. Rooms are very spacious. I did not find any fault in the rooms or the hotel. Everything was nice and clean. I would definitely stay there if I visit south San Jose. Keep up the god work.
I realize it is a weird reason to review a hotel but when you have a family member needing care and do not want to drive the horrors of the highways (we saw a terrible accident happen on our way there - slow down people!) early or late when the traffic is at its worst – book a room! Between 4 to 6 minutes from the Kaiser facility in San Jose, we booked the night before an early, early morning surgery and were very grateful for the comfort of the service, the room and the short drive to the hospital. The hotel is looks very new (and is beautiful) lots of amenities indoors (outdoor pool no hot tub) and it a BIG so get your bearings before you leave the lobby. Breakfast included is full-on everything you could want (dining room seems small for such a large hotel but we had no trouble getting a table early in the morning). Shout out to Sharona at the Front Desk for her kindness and goody bag. If you are not a Marriott Rewards member, why? Join today – tons of properties and deals. It’s a Residence Inn so each room is a small apartment, with fully stocked-to-cook kitchen. Grocery and restaurants are right across the street so it is a perfect location for any kind of stay for families or people that just want comfort (us!)
The wife and I stayed for two nights over New Years visiting friends in the area. Our first impression was that the tile floors and brass fixtures gleamed, and the lobby and common areas were spotless. The room was very clean (std. queen) with a weird shaped couch/sofabed in the living room area that wasn't very comfortable to sit on. The bed part and the living room part of the room were separated by a swivel flat-screen TV on the end of a wide 'credenza/drawers/whatever combo that was by the LR window. There was no convenient place to put your bags except on the wide combo thing that didn't block the TV from the sofa. So the room design was strange. The kitchen had a small stand-up fridge, micro and basic dishes. The frig was quiet (always good) and the room faced another hotel so it was also quiet. Everything worked as expected, and all was clean an tidy. My wife liked the third towel provided in the bath (sink was outside the shower/toilet room). The bed was medium-firm, and the pillows didn't work well for us (too soft - down?, or too stuffed with foam). We went to breakfast fairly late on New Years day (closing at 10:00, got there about 9:50). It was packed. The kitchen crew continued to make more eggs and such well past the normal end time. The next AM, there were more selections for breakfast (canadian bacon, two kinds of scrambled eggs...), and there was no crowd. The desk staff was helpful and efficient on check-in and check-out. As we were leaving about 15 minutes before check-out time, I found myself locked out of the 'A' building (card key blinked red). I went to the desk and another couple had the same issue. They replaced our keys quickly and apologized.
little far from downtown though but friendly location with quick food grab places nearby and you could buy groceries of your need "lucky" Ross is nearby if you are looking dress for less..this is not mine it's Ross's tag line
I would like to have given this hotel a higher rating, because the room was comfortable and smartly laid-out. However, the hotel manager charged us a $100 pet fee for a one night stay that was never mentioned in the information available on TripAdvisor when I booked the hotel. The manager told me I should have book directly with Marriott and not with Tripadvisor and that the pet fee is disclosed only on the Marriott site. Also, there was a bit too much outside noise at night, making it difficult to fall asleep.
