Difficult to find in the dark Beds uncomfortable with small rooms, nowhere to open a case No instructions for boiler or hot water. When we did work out the boiler, only 2 of us had a shower because the water was too hot and dangerous, we couldn’t get it any colder the temperature control in the shower did nothing. The bathroom was musty and grimy and like a caravan size pod.

Underwhelmed, and annoyed.

We stayed at 1 The Maltings on Saturday 16th August - a group of 3 of us who were working at the nearby Mid-Somerset Show. We arrived at 1700hrs - the earliest check in time and realised we did not have any email from the property with a key code. On trying the number for the owner, it simply rang out, no message facility. Over 45 minutes later we managed to get the code from a very helpful Hotels.com customer service person. The email with the code was sent at 22:30hrs that night - not very helpful. The apartment is compact - bedrooms are okay - 3 doubles, pretty basic. There is a kitchen which is serviceable. The bathroom is a converted small cupboard, consisting of shower, basin and toilet. If sitting on the toilet, your feet are in the shower tray. For the odd night it’s workable. Shower was pretty good - mixer type running off combi boiler. It was a shame to have found long hairs stuck to the side of the cubicle - not the cleanest. Bedroom cleanliness was not brilliant - clearly nobody moves any furniture very often to clean around anything. The floor covering is a little misleading - it looks grubby, but is actually the grey pattern. There are 3 TV’s - one in each bedroom, but we could only find 2 remotes. There are no USB outlets in the property - take your plugs to charge devices! Biggest issue was just getting in - by reading the reviews, this is clearly not a one-off.

Good for a single night stay

Decent property for a single night stay with a family. Hard to find in the dark and no parking, though on-street parking and car parks are available locally. Three bedrooms with a small kitchen and wet room. Nowhere specific to eat as a family but small tables in each room were fine. Had to phone on the day to get the key code. This could be made more obvious - or the owner could communicate more proactively.

Nice property but ruined by poor management!

This property was very nice, but my whole experience was ruined by having to wait outside for almost two hours because the owner hadn't sent me the key box code and the contact number was a land line that had an answerphone with no ability to leave a message. I spoke with Hotels.com and they couldn't reach the owner either. They tried to relocate me, but all of the local hotels were full with contractors setting up Glastonbury festival. I was about to drive to Bristol to a hotel when he finally called me around 7pm with the code and every excuse as to why he hadn't it sooner. It sounded like alcohol played a major part to me! The neighbours were telling me they have people sat outside for hours regularly! If you decide to stay here, make sure you call the owner and get the code well in advance!!
