The Interlaken OCT Hotel Shenzhen5.0 out of 5.0

The main problem with the hotel is that the staff couldn't care less. Underneath the surface of the quirky European architecture is a throwback to the customer service of a state run enterprise. The room was not very clean and there was toilet paper in the bin beside the toilet on arrival. The lakeside restaurant has an extensive list of beers and deserts on the menu most of which were not available. The service in the Chinese restaurant was extremely slow and the dumplings were cold and hard. The facilities are not available for most of the day. We has hoped to have a relaxing day having a massage and spending time at the pool, but we were told firstly that we couldn't use the pool after checkout and then that it did not in any case open until 3:00. So we decided to have a massage while we waited. Having haggled down the price, we were driven to the spa only to be told when we arrived that it was also closed until mid-afternoon. So we just left the hotel. While we waited for the bus, the doorman tried to sell us an overpriced car. The hotel did not respond to my email setting out my complaints. You could maybe live with this if it were not for the price, It claims to be a "luxurious property "offering "a 5 star European holiday experience" and at USD 300 per night it should be expected to live up to this claim - it would be a high end price even in London or New York, let alone Shenzhen. In terms of value for money, this is the worst hotel experience I have had - I felt like I had been robbed any left feeling anything but relaxed and rejuvenated.
If you have a spare day, the Old China Town Is a good place to visit. Lots to see and some nice walking trials. Food inside the park is not as expensive as one would imagine. Numerous street shows and even a bird show at the Four Seasons pavilion. Do buy tickets to the show.
Excellent 5 star hotel, excellent customer service !!! I Love It!!!! We stayed on 15 Dec for 1 night and in rm 1536 (probably) with my girlfriend, everything would be perfect, I have an unforgettable birthday trip!!! From excellent service of GSC team (Front Desk) and staff of Italian restaurant (Vista Lago Italian Restaurant) to room facilities, especially the lake view from our room, that is breathtaking !!! By the way, there is one thing may the hotel need to improve, cleanness !! There are some stains on the bathtub and sofa. Finally, I definitely would recommend my clients and friends to stay in this hotel!! Thanks again, you made my day & my birthday trip !!! Troy Tsang
I didn't stay at the hotel but visited the park its located in for a day trip and had a great time, its quite a strange and spectacular place to find in China and plenty to do and see including animal shows, plenty of wildlife and plants to see, shops, restaurants and even a golf driving range which I took advantage of. There is also a train ride but I didn't have time for that. It's an interesting place to visit and plenty to do and see for all ages.
Suprised Excellent rooms Excellent food Good restaurants Well worth the trip Scenery is excellent and the temperature is far below Shenzhen due to the elevation Gardens are brilliant and the hotel resort is excellent standard and design
Hotel room is huge and not bad. Staff is not well trained. Guests can use free swimming pool at another hotel but the pool is only open after 3pm. And massage only available after 2:30pm. Overpriced (RMB 2,500 for Saturday night) for what it offers
The hotel inside is lovely but I was at the bar / restaurant which is located overlooking the lake. Beautiful view, great service and nice staff. Good selection off food and beverages. Would recommend stopping here if you're in the area, very peaceful.
The restaurant of this hotel is terrible!!! Bad service bad food, bad everything. They don't have a clue to serve nothing. Took more than 1 hour for food and my friend had to pick up the beers by himself. The worst thing is that the place was totally empty. Beware never go here.
I don't normally write reviews of hotels because I do not feel that I have a great deal to add to what has already been said - but a recent visit (please note I use the word 'visit' rather than 'stay') to this hotel is, without doubt, the most awful hotel experience I have had. I would thoroughly recommend NOT staying here. I chose this hotel because I thought that it might be slightly quirky - a little piece of Switzerland in China - and was attracted to the fact that it wasn't in central Shenzhen and the price seemed to indicate that it was a pretty reputable and upmarket establishment. WRONG! The hotel is some way out of Shenzhen and you need to take a taxi. The taxi dumped me at the bottom of the hill (I don't know if this is normal) and I had to get on a resort bus up to the hotel. This bus was like something from a comedy film - dirty and rickety and nowhere to put your luggage. I already felt like I was on a student backpacking adventure...except this hotel certainly did not come at student backpacker rates! The hotel foyer is a sight to behold - completely over the top - but not at all bad. However, once I reached the Town House I had booked, the small nightmare unfolded. The outside of the Town House (well, block of rooms really) was surrounded by rubbish and building material and the door was hanging open. Inside, the carpets were grubby and the whole place just looked tired and rather dirty. The room/suite itself was spacious and clean, but absolutely no instructions or welcome in English. The disappointment began to set in. I thought I'd feel better if I visited the spa...how wrong I was! It was also a building site (I know hotels have to carry out maintenance work but most make some effort to clear away rubbish and to make the place as presentable as possible - not here, however). The spa was loud and busy and no-one was there to say hello or to explain what was available. Visions of 5 star luxury and tranquility vanished. I retreated to my room and pondered what a singularly miserable experience this would be...so I decided to abandon ship and head back to central Shenzhen - and to a 5 star hotel which would actually cost considerably less than this poor excuse for a resort. I explained my bitter disappointment to the staff, who seemed to care little that I was leaving after less than 2 hours with them, but they insisted on charging me the full price for my non-stay. My advice: spend your money on a proper 5 star hotel in Shenzhen. This was the most soul destroying experience of my hotel life. I've stayed in worse hotels (as a student) - but they were considerably cheaper than this place. If you want luxury, don't go near this place!
very impressive lobby and entry, good european style rooms with views over the valley, beautiful gardens and walkways, good breakfast offering for a China hotel, easy access from Shenzhen and well worth a visit for a day or 2,
