Sunshine Hotel Shenzhen5.0 out of 5.0

I stayed in Sunshine hotel for 3 nights in March for business. Unfortunately we did not get an updated room, our room was old and dated. It was dusty and the air conditioning was not working well, making the room really warm and stuffy. The hotel maintenance crew couldn’t fix the AC and advised us to open the window instead ( the window faced the internal courtyard). Also there is no security to go up to the rooms, we even had a gentleman mistakenly knocking on our door in the wee hours of the morning. The conference room facilities are sufficient and breakfast was adequate. Overall the hotel has good facilities but the older rooms are in need of an update.
The Sunshine was probably one of Shenzhen׳s first 5 star hotels - and from the outside looks like it needs some renovation. However, the inside was renovated and is top notch, including the lobby area, restaurant and room. My room was large, clean and extremely comfortable- especially the bed and large bath. All the best amenities are provided. Breakfast was excellent with lots if options for both Chinese and Western palates. The only downsides: not much of qa view (internal courtyard) and the electric outlets at the desk were at a strange angle and unusable for me (with plug converter). I didn't visit the pool, spa or gym for lack of time Location 5 minutes walk from the metro and in a busy restaurant/shopping district is great. I would definitely recommend and probably stay here on future visits.
Stayed in room with Club Floor benefits but don't know if I would do that again as the evening drinks were a no show, apart from that the pressing of two pieces of clothing daily was handy. The staff were friendly and the room was clean and tidy and of a good size. Good breakfast and good location.
I visited this hotel twice within 2 weeks for my recent business travel. The hotel was a bit old but in general OK. The food was OK and acceptable. The service was good and the staff was quite friendly. The hotel also offered to pick up my colleague from the Shenzhen airport even though the plane was delayed many hours. We don't mind to pay for the reasonable price and we are just glad it was done. The price was quite decent given that it was located at a pretty busy area in Shenzhen. All in all, it was a good experience and I'd consider return to this hotel.
I know the title does not start too well but this is not in any way a bad hotel and good value for what it is. Yes it's on the old style hotel but by and large facilities are pretty good. Squash courts, table tennis, gym and pool area all are decent. Location good enough also close to Shenzhen station. Wifi is rubbish though which is typical of all China which I can never work out. The bedrooms were also pretty good although could have been a bit bigger and had a few English TV channels available. My real moan was the food!! Listen I appreciate that I'm in China - do what the locals do etc.... but honestly the quality was just not good enough. I would not like to put people off as it wasn't 'bad' as such but I think next time I will make different selection.
I picked up the hotel from the Travelosity map since I wanted good hotel close by to the LoWu station. I thought it would be fast walking distance, but to my surprise you need to take a taxi to get there. So close on the map is not always close on the ground. The hotel is nice and modern, the best part, I liked the bed the pillows and the blanket. Sleep quality is very important when you travel and it was great. Unfortunately, most of the hotel personnel have poor English, I received a package from my vendor and when I called to find why it wasn't delivered to my room, they couldn't find the package. I know the package was there since my vendor called to make sure it arrived. I was able to find it only by going downstairs and the package was just under their nose, it was just very poor English. If this hotel likes to cater to international guests they better find English speaking people to work there. BTW, most Taxi drivers will never find this hotel by the name Sunshine tell the Taxi drivers "YoungGuan Hotel" and you have a better chance of getting there. The breakfast buffet was good with a nice choice of East and West and Omelet station. I was happy to find out at check out that they had a free shuttle ride to LoWu station if you planning to go to Hong Kong. That was nice and in private car. CNN in the room was helpful! If the people in the hotel will speak Better English I would be given them 4 stars.
I stayed at the Sunshine Hotel for one night on a trip to Shenzen from Hong Kong. It's conveniently located if you've crossed the boundary at Lo Wu. All of the staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful. I ordered took service, which was delicious and reasonably priced. As other reviewers have said, the breakfast buffet was excellent. A large variety of western and Chinese dishes. I also used the swimming pool which was a decent size and had a nice sauna attached.
I recently stayed at the Sunshine Hotel, Shenzhen...what a pleasure... What made it for me? The Staff...Every time I had a contact with staff they were helpful, courteous, friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The restaurant staff were particularly helpful and deserve high praise for their professionalism...their performance speaks volumes for the Training they must have undertaken. They dealt with each guest commendably. The room was clean, spacious and airy...the cleaner was obviously proud of her results and pleased with the compliments from guests. As for location? It suited me..being so close to the subway and on the line to major shopping and tourist attractions such as Window to the World... I'd go again...
Had a big room, 6th floor, in some speciel wing with view to an alley. Was surprised of the poor English skills at many of the relative young working there, but at least they tried Breakfast buffet is huge - probably the biggest I've ever seen
The room was a little dated but very clean and most importantly the Guest Relations office Letty Yu and Concierge Terry Wen were very helpful. There was a free shuttle to Lo Wu shopping centre (fantastic bargains but quite tiring. Doesn't open till about 11 really) and they went out of their way to help us with anything we needed. This was the only hotel out of 5 in China that gave us this level of service.
