The hotel was a bit of a surprise; in a good way. The rooms were reasonable in size and the hotel had an oddly but well done 1930's (I think) theme going on. Located close to major shopping centers and the electronics district, great for shopping :) Unfortunately it rain all three days that we stayed. Would definitely recommend as an affordable and central hotel.
It is a great place to stay for the value. Staff is very friendly. Room is clean. Free WiFi. The location is fatastic. Subway station is within 3 mins walking distance and there are shopping centers around the hotel. Lots of restaurants around.
This is an iconic building in ShenZhen and very well located for shopping restaurants etc. The rooms are not very large but are clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was good.
In general a nice place to stay. Room was luxurious, bit classic not modern. View from the window (backside) on buildings not great, but since I only wanted a place to sleep, I didn't mind Not all personnel speak English what especially in the restaurant was not very helpful. The location (very close to the Metro and the electronics markets) was ideal for me. I really enjoyed Shenzhen.
Take it from me. This is the best place to stay in shenzhen. I have stayed at grand skylight hotel, huaqiang plaza hotel and shanshui trend hotel. They were all worse for various reasons, the first two were more expensive too ! Shanghai hotel is clean smells nice, well renovated and comfortable. The service is great and staff are super helpful.
This Shangri La hotel is strategically positioned looking straight at the Luohu shopping plaza so convenience is big plus. The staff are very helpful, friendly, courteous and make sure you get the "Horizon" package it's great value for a small extra fee. The 360 restaurant has some on the best views in Shenzhen with a classy menu. The hotel itself is showing some signs of age and the rooms are not large in comparison to other Shangri La hotels. It's a great place if you intent to stay in Shenzhen and go shopping at the Luohu shopping plaza, the train station is also just at your door step. The health spa has some of the best foot reflexology we have ever experienced and your stay including all the nice to haves won't break the budget. Internet is free in this hotel but in China you won't get Google / Facebook and other websites like YouTube etc so if you are a techno type of person you will get withdrawal symptoms. Good stay all considered.
This hotel is very neat and if you're in Shenzhen to visit the SEG markets, an absolutely ideal location. Very close to the Huaqiang Rd Metro (literally 50 yards from exit B), it's a 5 minute walk to the Mobile and Computer Markets. The hotel itself is spectacular and only a few things stop a 5 star rating, namely the lack of English (which is China wide hotel issue) and also the limited breakfast range for foreigners. However, given the fact that this hotel caters for the local market and the amazing value, I guess it's hard to fault. The only other gripe I had was some uncleaned cigarette ash on the carpet next to one of the beds, but it's not a deal breaker. Overall, a great place to stay and definitely plan to come back...
Initially booked for one night, decided to stay a second. Paid a deposit on the day of arrival. Told the staff at the reception that we wanted to stay a second night, there was no mention of paying any extra deposit for the second night. Later in the evening when we had come back to the room for the night we got a phone call from reception saying that we needed to come down and pay an extra 400rmb deposit for the second night. I told them that we were staying in the room for the night and that we did not have any cash on us to pay the extra deposit (hotel does not accept unionpay debit cards for deposits). The member of staff that was on the phone said that was no problem, surely the end of the issue? It wasn't!! They rang the room again at 9pm, this time we did not answer. We were already frustrated about reception ringing the room looking for extra deposit money which they said nothing about when booking the second night earlier in the day. Soon after we went to sleep. Case closed? Nope!!! Phone rang again at 11pm, waking us up in the process. As you can imagine we were really angry at this. The member of the staff was incredibly rude, demanding that I come to reception immediately to pay the extra deposit money. As I was explaining the situation and the absolute ridiculousness of ringing a hotel room at 11pm at night to the member of staff she repeated "Pay the money now" a number of times. Eventually I hung up the phone. There were no more calls after the 11pm call thankfully. In the morning I made a complaint and to be fair the staff at the reception were apologetic. Nonetheless, I have never experienced such rudeness and absence of common sense from a hotel. Staff members need more training on how to deal with customers and the hotel needs to sort out their bizarre deposit policy.
Stayed for 3 days 2 nights, comfy & clean room but room abit old. Good location to shopping mall and convenient transportation. Breakfast not worth the money, limited choice and breakfast area small. Not easy to get seat.
It's been a while since I last stayed here, but my wife and I had a really enjoyable stay. This is not a large hotel, but is centrally located and the staff are excellent. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the breakfast it simple but very nice. I'll certainly stay here again when in the area.
