Tropical paradise all the way from primal and primitive to contemporary and high tech. room was comfortable and elegant (Wi-Fi, interioir stone/tile, finished and polished woodwork, terrace/balcony, seaview, etc.) great food.
After reading other reviews we decided to take a chance on Sunset Beach Hotel. We are glad we did. It is true that the condition of the resort is past its heyday and it could use some repairs and updating. However, consider that you are getting a great bargain on a great location and a resort that ...
This is a slightly above average hotel. Like 3.1 stars. My second floor room, located on the south side near the end of a V shaped wing, was OK. The view from inside was OK (misc trees) but the view from the walkway outside my door was dismal. There are several ugly, industrial looking structures ...
This hotel would have had a perfect rating if it were not for one issue. Some of the staff in the 3 different restaurants are not the most knowledgeable or hard working. It could be part of the so called charm of "island time" but sometimes I was frustrated with the customer service. However, if ...
Ideally located with some of the island’s best beachfront property. Very child friendly, with protected beaches and a pool for younger children. Lots of decent restaurants close by and on the property. Can use the gorgeous pool next door at the Savoy as well. Some great snorkeling and boat trip options ...
First and foremost, the staff at Treasure Cove are AMAZING. Very kind, helpful, and accommodating. The hotel is lovely, on a hill ABOVE the ocean, not directly ON the ocean, though the beaches are minutes away. The main caveat I'd give about Treasure Cove is that it lacks a comfortable place to lounge. The rooms are clean, and nice, with small balconies, and the bar and restaurant area is ok, but around the pool and in the rooms there is no place to comfortably relax. The balcony furniture is hard wood without cushions, and the 3 lounge chairs set up adjacent to the pool are arranged in such a way as to not actually be facing the pool or the ocean. Had we visited in the height of good weather season, this obviously wouldn't have been an issue, as we would have been at the beach all day every day. Given that in December it was quite rainy (sadly), we were often looking for a comfortable retreat during the rain showers, and found Treasure Cove lacking in this area. Everything else is wonderful (good food, wonderful staff) but I would suggest to the management that comfier balcony furniture, and a re-arrangement of the pool area would work wonders.
Watch out for harmless but disturbing flies. Come in hundreds (no exaggeration) into your room unless you take precautions with sunset. Unfortunately, the hotel does little to alleviate this problem. Had to ask for extra towels to cover the door gaps. The food quality is average, make sure they understand your order in full. Try the coctails! If gonna use fitness, make sure that the A/C works before you go in. All in all, still a good experience. Great beach. Friendly staff. Consider renting your car from the hotel.
After reading other reviews we decided to take a chance on Sunset Beach Hotel. We are glad we did. It is true that the condition of the resort is past its heyday and it could use some repairs and updating. However, consider that you are getting a great bargain on a great location and a resort that is just a little past its prime. In it's prime, perhaps 10-15 years ago, it must have been a very swanky resort. The natural materials have aged a bit. A few shells are missing from the decorations in the bathroom. The marble isn't quite as shiny as it would have been new. The patio furniture upholstery has faded. Still these details did not reduce our enjoyment. The staff were very friendly, especially Theo and the other servers in the restaurant. The restaurant literally hangs over the rocky shore and our room had a private patio that overlooked the Indian Ocean. Prices at the restaurant were comparable with other restaurants in Seychelles. The snorkeling just down the stairs at Sunset Beach is great with good corals and a school of eagle rays that apparently lives in the cove. Beau Vallon is just down the road a few minutes by car with a couple of decent restaurants and another beach and a dive shop. Overall a very good experience for the money.
Stayed there for one night before our flight out the following morning. Friendly staff, nice view and clean rooms. Good value. Had dinner there and it was good. Our flight left early the next morning so we were going to miss the free breakfast, so they provided a fruit plate and juices for us the night before. Would recommend. No problems at all.
