Our check-in and welcome was a bit fumbled. We drove ourselves there and I think that was what made the staff confused. The carpark is just before the reception but we drove all the way and the staff seemed confused at that. They also seemed quite busy and the whole process felt rushed (just taking our credit card for the huge deposit and not even explaining it, for example) but we got all the info we needed. That was where the confusions ended. From then on it was pretty amazing. The whole property..wow!! We had a partial ocean view villa and it was spectacular. Huge deck, huge (extremely comfortable) bed, huge room, huge outdoor lounge! The villa pool was something else altogether - just stunning!!! I was worried we would have very little view due to the room being called 'partial ocean view' (and not being able to find any pictures online) but the view was amazing!! I wasn't keen on the indoor shower. But there is an outdoor one, so it was all good. The shower is just so ugly. I had noticed it in photos and it really is an eye sore in real life. To me, it looks like a cheap sauna shower and doesn't go with the rest of the design. The coffee amenities provided are generous as are the water bottles. The turndown service is excellent and everything is replenished. Loved the bedside control too, you could pretty much control everything from there. The main pool is huge and so beautiful!! It's so relaxing with the gorgeous ocean view and the sounds of birds and waves crashing. I loved the super comfy double sun beds and the iced water provided straight away. They also bring out fruit skewers, little juices, cool face towels and do a sunglasses service. Great service poolside! Edmond was specially good 😉 The service was outstanding from pretty much everyone and every part of the hotel. You couldn't move from anyone wanting to help you, greet, smile and service you. The breakfast was amazing with the quality buffet and a la carte options. We were given a little tour of the breakfast on our first day and thought that was a pretty nice touch. Loved the Bellini/Bloody Mary station and all the food! The service was pretty full on. It felt like the staff were just waiting for you to finish and whisk your plate away immediately. Loved the egg and noodle stations! Delicious! We didn't really eat there as we had a car and the food was pretty pricey as expected. We felt the staff were a bit pushy with asking us to make dinner reservations. We did have a club sandwich poolside and fish sandwiches in the pool bar/restaurant and those were pretty delicious. The chips could of been better and the salads more generous but those are small observations. There is only the pool restaurant open for lunch and I felt quite uncomfortable sitting there due to the heat. It would of been nice to have ceiling fans at least. The birds can be a nuisance also. We tried and loved the coconut cocktails and thought the prices were fair (the same we pay in Sydney). The beers were a little pricey at $12 for a local beer. The beach at the hotel was very nice with clear blue water. Obviously not as mind blowing as the other beaches on the island such as Anse Lazio. Lazio is just 5 mins away by car and you have to go to Honesty bar when there. It's perfection! We kayaked at the hotel and saw 2 rays! Not quite Bora Bora but really beautiful and worth it! We also snorkelled and got to see lots of fish!! A couple of downers include the mould and fungus growing on the outside of the villa pool, the main pool lacking in maintenance as it ages (loads of loose tiles) and the awesome set up they have for a rooftop bar and beach bar but weren't actually functioning. Also, we emailed about celebrating my 30th during the trip but that didn't get acknowledged in the response or at the hotel. Overall, what an amazing experience!!! Recommend for sure!
I visited Raffles in the month of November and it was the best experience ever in a 5 star hotel. The staff was more than courteous. The best part about Raffles is indeed the luxurious villa and of course the private beach. Highly recommended specially for honeymooners ❤
From the arrival until departure, Raffles staff makes you feel special, from the first contact with front desk, Estelle, to pleasant chit chat with Frederic or any of buggy drivers... Unforgettable stay in a beautiful villa with amazing view. It was really great vacation and we highly recommend Raffles for your stay at Praslin island. Delicious breakfast with champagne, theme dinners, amazing pool and restaurant. Villa was spacious, with a nice size plunge in pool with an ocean view, all amenities available and a quick room service when needed.
Starting with this Island.... Such a magical place, hard to describe hoe does it feel to be in a place so well preserved in terms of nature. Seems that mankind hasn't reached there yet. Well, Raffles contributes to the make the paradise even more perfect. Superb room, amazing not to say breathtaking view, hotel service and staff very happy, friendly and kind. Food was excellent. The private pool and balcony made us feel at home. The pictures tell for themselves. Remember Shannick Belle from staff that was very helpful and kind. The beach front of the hotel is spectacular and calm. Water is incredible blue. Visited on June/ 2015 but just noted I hasn't rated yet.
We spent 5 nights here after a week's cruise on Crystal's yacht, Esprit, in the Seychelles. After a very active cruise, this was a wonderful way to relax completely. Our villa (102) with partial ocean view, was huge - the pictures from the resort do not do it justice. As much outdoor as indoor space (large under roof seating area, table and chairs for dining, outdoor refrigerator, two lounge chairs on separate deck, plunge pool, outdoor shower) and indoors even more generous. And so private -- with rich plantings throughout, there was no view of anyone else, yet vista views were perfect. Lots of big windows -- very light and bright throughout. You can sit in the separate tub and gaze out on the ocean. A big plus for this villa is that it is on a cul-de-sac with an easy walk to restaurants, beach and pool - no buggy needed. The beach, Anse Takamaka, is 'klein aber fine'. We snorkeled and swam every day (right off the beach) and saw probably 40 different types of fish. We prefer to swim in the ocean but there is also a very large infinity pool (which we did not use). Food quality is very good to excellent. We had half board, which made sense given the rather isolated location of the hotel. Breakfast buffet has to be seen to be believed! I've been to a lot of wonderful breakfast buffets at top hotels but this has to be the best one. We had dinner at Losean (their main restaurant), the Sushi/Sashimi restaurant (surcharge for half board), their Asian restaurant and Creole buffet at Losean (Weds). Creole buffet was super, fish for sushi and sashimi very fresh, portions in general very generous. Service was a mixed bag. Mostly very good but we had a problem with one of the servers at Losean, who though very nice, did not understand English well, and since my husband had some dietary restrictions, it was very challenging to say the least. Beach service could also be spotty, depending on who was on duty. Edmond is a 5* guy - always attentive, friendly, even cleaned our sunglasses and tightened the screws! The others rarely checked to see if we needed water or wanted a drink. Rest of staff was excellent, from check in to check out. To sum up, if you're in the Seychelles, and particularly if you're looking for luxury in a quiet location, I would highly recommend Raffles.
We stayed at the Raffles Praslin for three nights for our honeymoon and we wished we could have stayed forever. Our room was amazing with a spectacular infinity pool overlooking the ocean, but the best part of the entire experience was the hospitality. The staff was friendly, helpful and very caring. The concierge helped us plan our excursions and arranged for all our travel and they were so very thoughtful - our cabs always had water bottles and beach towels ready. We were worried about finding vegetarian food there but they had so many options available for us (Indian food as well!). Everything was just perfect :)
went for vacation and on arrival greeted at helipad by 2nd gm. upsold a room but watch out for the ++ , which is given on the paper to sign, it means..... it appears whatever price you are quoted you will pay ++ which is ++ what ever they feel like. no explanation of ++ rates even after departure. very dubious practice. Staff & butlers very helpful and very friendly. room cleaning a bit haphazard, empty toilet rolls not replaced, towels became less in room all week. on honeymoon you expect some special welcome or maybe a free bottle. instead 2 small left over tiramusu slices from night before it looked like. also staff always looking for an angle to sell some excursion, or additional service, also resort shop is useless, not even basics in stock, when they can be bothered to open, which we had to demand after 3 days of no opening. no suncream. so was told to get from spa. spa only had used sample, one of! very strange when there are no shops for 10km not to stock basics like suncream etc. departure was uncoordinated with transfer people even though transfer booked via hotel. also only pay by credit card, if you pay by debit they block even after settling bill the full amount for another month! all in all a bit disappointed to say the least for a brand with such a good reputation. have complained but get the slopey shoulder routine. they aren't really bothered because the bills been paid. not the kind of attitude you expect from a 5 star resort. wont be going back and wont be recommending. been to hundreds of 5 star places but never been stitched up like this place. be very careful. i assume the rave reviews are from people who arent that used to 5+ stars.
Hello, We stayed there for 3 nights and it was absolutely amazing! The hotel is located on island praslin which in itself is a piece of heaven!! The hotel is well built and gives you various options of rooms depending on one's preference and the views from the room is right out of a textbook! Staff is very well trained co-operative and knows how to take good care of guests! The hotel beach is amazing as well! We are vegetarians and hotel took in consideration our food preferences and made sure we had enough food options, which was very nice and kind of the hotel. Concierge desk helped us book some amazing trips and island hopping private jetty! The chefs were always eager to help and serve. I would like to make a special mention of all the people who helped us make the trip so amazing and memorable. (Tashi, chef Sunil Dutt, chef robin, chef Azim ( not sure of the name @ pan Asian restaurant), concierge desk and everyone right from reception to the buggy drivers everyone. I would definitely wanna come back and would recommend everyone to spend sometime here! PS : one suggestion, don't charge the guests separately for bottle of water when the food is included!! Cheers
We stayed at this outstanding hotel from December 2015 to January 2016 and spent Christmas and New Year Eve there. I am writing this review quite late but better late then never. If you choose Raffles Seychelles for your vacations you will never regret it. From the time you arrive, you are being greeted by the staff in the peaceful open air reception with a spectacular view over looking the ocean lush trees, until the time you leave. Believe me your entire holidays will be assisted with great attention from all the Raffles team including with the General Manager. To be honest it was one of very few hotels we traveled to (and we travel a lot) where the GM was involved so intensely and in every detail, he was helping and solving all sorts of situations. We stayed in a large one bedroom villa + reception with a pool which was just great. All the photos on the site didn't provide the real luxury and quality of that place. Literally the word "NO" did not exist, all our requests were followed up and fulfilled. It was our second visit to Seychelles and first for our daughter. Previously, we stayed in Maia and we enjoyed it too but Maia is more secluded and intimate while Raffles is spacey and chic.
Well, I don't know where to start really as our stay here was simply wonderful. The hotel and room is very big, clean, comfortable, spacious, having both inside and outside showers. The bed and pillows are soft and comfortable and we never had any issues in booking the buggy for the restaurant. The plunge pool and balcony/terrace is lovely and all felt very private. The food in the restaurant is stunning, breakfast was really well presented and felt like an all day buffet! Lots of fresh fruit, breads, cooked food etc and all tasted delicious as did the evening food. We were half board which we were grateful doing before we went as it is a little pricey on the night if not.But you are in the Seychelles in a 5 star resort!! We stayed 6 nights following this stay in the Four Seasons on Mahe and to be honest we would choose Raffles again only if we are lucky to return again. Can recommend a private island tour tho.
