The room was huge and very clean with its own bathroom, fridge, TV and anything else you would expect in a hotel room. The décor was retro and felt like I'd stepped into the past which is what you want when traveling on route 66. We arrived at midnight and the woman the front desk was happy to check us in even though it was 35 degrees! She even recommended places to find the next morning.

Found staff to be rude from check-in to check-out. Was assigned a room that was of marginal value, but when the clerk learned we had a very small dog we were assigned a pet room that reeked of dog urine and was filthy. Floor was carpeted and unvacuumed walls and doors were dirty, the tub had dirt and a clump of hair in it. The motel sign was intact on the side we could see upon arrival the other side was broken and unreadable when we looked after check-out. If it had not been so late when we arrived, I would have tried to find another motel and asked for a refund of my advance payment. I could go on and on, but my dissatisfaction should be obvious and I took numerous pictures to prove every statement, and then some! I didn't expect luxuries at the rate I paid, but my dog lives in better conditions.

Needed a place for the night because Kingman was fully booked. Have stayed at Romney before and always was a good experience. Owner very courteous and property is always clean and well kept.

The motel offers the basics. You can tell it is an older motel but its clean and has what you need at a good price. It's also right down the street from the Roadkill Cafe, which is great for Route 66 tourists!

THIS IS THE MOST VILE MOTEL I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. I SLEPT ON THE FLOOR, IN A SLEEPING BAG, DUE TO THE SCARE OF CATCHING SOMETHING! BEWARE OF THIS HORRIBLE PLACE!

very good location on route 66 hotel was a few used, but acceptable

Total false advertising!! We arrived to the address as posted, which led us down a dirt road in the middle of Arizona. After calling twice to get correct directions, we arrived at a filthy hotel, with no "Cars" movie memorabilia out front (as advertised), but worse! it was 120 miles from the Grand Canyon. When we booked, it was advertised to be 55 miles away. We requested a refund and showed the owners our paperwork, and they declined. We are now out the money from this hotel, and had to find another place after visiting the Grand Canyon that day (Memorial Day weekend, too-which really cost us a lot last minute). This was AWFUL!!!

I rated the motel below average, yet in some areas as noted above I had to rate it as average as I couldn't point to anything specific. The motel was rundown but clean. The amenities were average and the room was comfortable, but I still felt that it was second rate, and I would not stay there again unless I was desparate. The best feature was the location as I was traveling to Supai and needed a place to stay overnight.

Concerned about electrical wiring - lots of extensions and doubled up wiring. Good location on Route 66 with that old-time motel feel.

Staff was pleasant, friendly, attentive to the needs we had and right on top of things at check in. [...], we did not have crazy expectations. The room was clean, small, and had a small tv with direct TV. Unexpected was the train noise and frequency and the bathroom that needed 'finishing' as it looked like it like it needed a lot of work to be solid.

We stay at this motel because there was a photo on their website stating pets were welcomed. We reserved a room with a king-size bed with a HD TV. When we arrived at the motel. We were told that we couldn't have the room that we reserved due to our dog. So, we were put into Room 11. The room size was adequate but too small for two king size beds. Entering/Exiting the room was hampered by the distance from the door and the bed nearest to it. It felt that we always had to climb over the bed to get in and out. The overall decor of the room: The furniture was that of a rummage sale (mixed & matched)and very old, but the beds were very comfortable. The table lamp between the beds was tilted and unstabled. The TV stand had a single pole holding a TV set too heavy and too large for the stand. The TV was slanted downwards due to its size & weight. We felt it may fall over during our stay. The only access to an electrical outlet to plug in anything was an extension cord that was placed behind the dresser. Access to the cord was difficult. The towels were okay but one of the face cloths was coming apart big time. It could have been used as a rag, but not given to a guest. The three packets of face soaps left for use were all broken in pieces. The bathroom walls were partially painted that it looked like the job was not finished. The wall coverings were not consistent with the same design or color. The toilet always ran. Overall, the room was clean and quiet, but we felt our privacy was being evaded by the owners when they made the statement that our dog was on the beds. (He brought his own body pillow and dollies with him for the trip that was kept on the floor to sleep on). If that may be the case it's because our dog was too anxious to get out of the room to go potty. There was absolutely no room for anyone to get out without climbing over the bed!
