We often stay at Marriott properties and we found this one to be terrific if you don't mind staying a bit outside of downtown. When we checked in (a bit early) Paul, at the reception desk, was very helpful in telling us about things to do and see in Sarasota. He worked hard to find us a room that was ready and even upgraded us because we had to wait a few minutes for one to become available. He gets an A+ for customer service. The room was clean, well organized, and perfect for our 5-night stay. Our kitchen was well stocked with normal kitchen items. The walls are a bit thin so we could hear the man next door talking on the phone and also his television, but we turned on the air conditioner fan and it drowned out the noise very well. Only problem we had was the hot tub in the pool area wasn't working and my husband who has a bad back was looking forward to a relaxing hot tub. Also, this hotel says they are environmentally friends and urges you through signage to reuse your towels to save water; however there is no towel bar for the bath towels to dry off once you have used them. Otherwise, plenty of parking and a good location for all the major roads in Sarasota. Also, the beds are very comfortable and we slept great.
A business trip brought a co-worker to this hotel as the company has a special rate. I reserved a 2 bedroom/2 bath suite for one night. Since I had used mobile check-in, we got the room key cards quickly. Going to the room, there were spots where there was minor wear in the carpet, but the room was clean, neat, and spacious. After I returned later in the evening the desk clerk greeted me by name which might be anticipated after two or three days, but not for just one night, and only seeing him a few hours before. Things like that add a special touch and indicates the staff is trained to care. The complimentary buffet breakfast had choices for every desire and dietary needs and was well presented. The dining area was spacious and the tables were not crowded. Overall, it was a great value - even at the normal rate and especially at the special corporate rate.
We stayed here for almost a week. It was a reliable and friendly place. Staff worked hard and did several things to make our stay enjoyable. Room was fine and typical for Residence property. There were families and pets here so this may be important for some. There is an outdoor fire pit and pool. Also a grill. Breakfast was good - again typical. Workout room was above average but small. The location is literally right across the street from the airport - convenient but potentially noisy. We were NOT bothered by the noise and it is not a busy airport. Paul was very nice and helpful at the desk.
There were a lot of different dogs in this hotel over our stay Some of them were off the lead inside the corridor Breakfast coffee was very weak compared to arrival /night coffee Fire pit was excellent A large sport group completely took Over the area one night
The first two floors of the hotel are generally used for guests with dogs, but also for others. We were on the second floor. When we left there were two dogs, large breed, waiting to leave the hotel lobby. Two smaller dogs had been waiting, with their owners, to enter the elevator when we alighted. This place is really doggy. We've always had dogs ,but not in our bedroom as I am allergic to dog dandruff. There was a heavy odour of dog in our room which was carpeted. I had to take an allergy pill. I won't be staying here again. Even the smell would dismay people who didn't have an allergy. They should not put people in the same rooms as used by guests accompanied by dogs or other pets. Some people are very allergic to cats.
I knew that many/most Residence Inns were pet friendly, but I rarely see signs of any pets. This hotel was different. The milk bone jar was on the check-in counter and dogs were coming and going. Barking dogs on my floor made it seem like I was moving into a kennel (This persisted for several hours in the early evening). The room had a dog odour. I watched one person in the morning walk their black lab through the breakfast food area....Come on Marriott, maybe it's time to rethink this policy so those of us with no pets and those with animal allergies can also feel comfortable!
It's a stunning hotel! And it's literally over the road from the airport - and a short drive from popular tourist attractions. They do offer a complimentary breakfast which is wonderful and saves a ton of time. This is not the place to stay if you are wanting a view. In fact, most rooms overlook a trailer park... So it's not the greatest but everything else is wonderful! You have full access to a pool, gym, wifi, etc.
Staff was extremely pleasant, rooms were very clean. Good location. The picture you will see are from when we checked in. Stayed 3days and 2 nights. Its a 3 story hotel. Very quient. The only thing I could say negative would be the elevator needs to be updated, but other than that, I would definitely come back.
Spent two weeks here on business. Hotel is right across the street from Sarasota airport. Staff is very accommodating and friendly. Rooms are nice. Does have free breakfast and some free food Monday through Wednesday evening. Only downside is pretty much nothing within walking distance. But lots to do if you have a car.
I had a quick stay at this location and was very pleased. The front end personnel are very helpful and nice. The rooms are big and comfortable with all the amenities your would expect. The walls are a bit thin and as I was here the same time as a number of youth soccer teams it was easy to hear noise, but it settled down at an appropriate time without any action needed on my part. From an office standpoint the internet is good and the desk area comfortable. Big bath area and comfortable bed. Breakfast was fine and kept full - especially impressive with all the soccer kids here! Only drawback that could use attention is the room darkening shade don't close properly and the light came through earlier than I would have liked. Some that those could use an update so they properly close. Good stay. Not too much local food but a few places deliver. Extremely close to the airport which is nice.
