The employees were friendly, and it was a quiet place. It's a little shabby and could have a few improvements, but it is not terrible like some reviews stated. I almost didn't stay here, because of all the bad negative reviews that other people wrote. If you are looking for a high class fancy place, this is not for you. It is average and great for someone like myself. It's hard to choose a place, based on all the negative reviews of others, especially when I find these places to be the total opposite. I really like the Tiki Bar next door. The bartenders were friendly and it was a relaxing atmosphere. I felt it was in a safe area, and I was there by myself. There was not a guest computer to use. I was assured that the front desk would help me check into the airport, or find me directions, etc--whatever I needed. However when I needed to check in for my flight, the desk couldn't help me as the manager wasn't there, and she did not have the password to help me. I had to leave and find a place so I could do it myself as I do not have a smart phone to make it easier for me.

Very well maintained for one of the early motels in the area. Do not expect everything brand new or perfect. If you don't mind that, you will be fine. I would stay there again.

Very nice and polite stuff. ClEan spacious rooms. Not bad complimentary breakfast

I had read some reviews on-line so I called the hotel a few days prior to check-in. They assured me, although old, everything was clean and in working order which is all I cared about for one night. While getting ready for dinner reservations, I could not get any hot water to come into the shower line. Then the blow dryer did not work. The office came and replaced the blow dryer and stated they would switch our room when we returned from dinner. Once back, they had changed their mind as the maintenance man went in while we were gone and ran the water for 20 minutes and said it got hot. We were just at the end of the building. For 1 night ok, but I really didn't want to wait 20 minutes in the morning for hot water. The bed was old and not very comfortable. In the morning the coffee maker did not work. We left extremely disappointed.

Our room was nice and the hotel provided convenient access to the beaches in Tampa, Sarasota, and Siesta Key.

Once we checked in which by the way the lady was rude, we went to our room and the rooms where dirty and roaches crawling on the walls. Just Nasty, the bed sheets dirty and all stained up. Grossed me up. The pool is opened until 10 pm so they say but the lighting area and in the pool area well there isn't any and we would have to use a flashlight if you even wanted to enjoy the pool in the evening. The people that work there aren't all so pleasant to even be there themselves. Nothing seem to be working or as they say out of order. Just a place you don't want to take your family too, nothing about this place and my stay was at all worth the savings to stay here.

One front dest person to do every thing. No maintainance. My son's sheets had some waste material I scaped off with my knife. When they brought sheets, We had to change them. Sheets were stained and dingy color. They apparantly are cheap with the laundry. Went to see other room. Roach on the wall. Killed and took to front desk. Front desk was not authorized to make any decisions. no check out, no refund at all. They charged full price on CC of multiples day stay upon arrival. Next day front desk couldn't (wouldn't admit) find cup with roach. We had pictures. Told us we didn't know what roaches were, they were June bugs. Found no stains on sheets. Accused us of bringing in more guests than allowed to stay in room. We were at fault not them. Breakfast? Yuck.

Property is very tired and outdated. Room was dingy and depressing and curtains had stains on them. Did not receive regular daily house keeping. The Bahia Hut Bar next door was the highlight.

I used to live in Sarasota and when i saw the famous Biahi hut was there then i told my Cuz this is the place we are going to stay. had a great time visiting family and friends and would stay at the golden host again, but not wait so long next time to visit...

Wasn't bad didn't realize how far it was from Siesta Keys all n all not a bad stay

The AC was lous and my room was disgustingly hot throughout the day and night I kept it running. It was clean enough.

I love this spot, it's like a little honeycomb hideout. Great, friendly staff, awesome little pub on site, try a house specialty drink, The Mai Tai (limit of 2 per person) you'll know why. :-)

This hotel is a great place to stay, I would say more for adults without young kids. It has a great lounge on premises, and I love the pool area

I don't normally give harsh reviews, but this hotel earned them. It is not in a very good area, we were initially given keys to an occupied room and had to switch, the air conditioner was stuck at a specific temperature and couldn't be moved, the bed was hard as a rock, the 2 pillows on the bed were miniature size and the room smelled musty.

Fortunately there are plenty of hotels in Sarasota. The rooms were cleanish, the entire place needs to be updated. I usually do not take my shoes off in hotels but I had driven a long way, my feet were black almost instantly. The Palmetto bugs, yes its Florida but stll there are things called exterminators. Yes its an outdoor pool but it looked like no one had skimmed it in days. I am grateful that I had many other friends staying in Sarasota at the same time and could hang out with them. Definitely not staying there or recommending that some one else stay there.

1st. room we were given was not cleaned. They gave us an up grade ground floor. Carpet was so dirty you could not walk on it without getting your feet dirty. There were wasps between the slider and screen found a wasp nest up in corner outside slider also there was a conduit with a live wire hanging out above slider. Reported the above to desk help but nothing was done. When we checked out requested a receipt they said that they only send email receipts, Very uncomfortable with this

I have stayed at this hotel before and had rated it "the feeling of old Florida," and while it still remains about the same, I did NOT appreciate having a heater that did not work and it was very cold (for Florida), in the 40s at night. Of course, they knew about it but, alas, did absolutely nothing. My room in the morning was in the 50s. So much for the "Feeling of old Florida." Perhaps old! too

Staff were very friendly. Cleanliness of room was fine but bathroom could have been cleaned better. I was only there for the night and just needed a bed to crash in and the price was great for that.

I arrived late - 10:30 so went right to bed not having time to use the pool, amenities, etc. The receptionist was very helpful in getting my luggage upstairs. There is no elevator and I am 65+ with 2 new knees. It was pleasant but I did not have time enough to get $104 worth. It is really for people who plan to spend several days there.

Hotel was older but well kept. Bed firm which is good for back trouble. Shower handle need to be fixed but it was clean. Air worked. TV has very limited channels. Would stay again if in area. Greatest resturant is Yummy House down the road. Always a line waiting. Prices seemed high until food came. Really huge portions. Overall, had good time and would be back to hotel.
