Mercure Hotel Sapporo

Ok, there's a group tour from near by Asian country. That's something you can not avoid anywhere in Japan nowadays. They do however treated us as a recognized platinum member, made sure we are treated special and gave us more than we expected. If you own high tier on Accor, don't think twice to choose a hotel in Sapporo.

We had a wonderful stay in Mercure with check in and check out being a breeze. Our rooms were equipped as per our request as we have 3 persons staying per room. The stay included breakfast and the selections were excellent with combination of western and local Japanese choices. The hotel also prepared us with takeaway breakfast as we had to check out by 6am for our flight back home.

The room was quiet and a reasonable size for Japan. We had plenty of room to use our PC and charge a number of devices. The bed is a good size and quite comfortable but the pillows were a bit hard. Breakfast was very good even for westerners and reasonably priced. The cleaning staff did a good job and the reception staff were helpful and responsive. The bathroom is a reasonable size and functional. The hotel is in a good location with easy access to public transport and right in the middle of the restaurant district. We only had two issues. The WiFi was good during the day and easy to access but in the evening it slowed to a frustrating 0.5 mb/s. A hotel chain this large should have better capacity in this day and age. Secondly the restaurant in the evening offered a buffet but most nights it was either unavailable due to a private booking or was closed for maintenance. During the 7 days that we stayed here we only had access on one night. One last item that was annoying more than an issue was that when you head out or in each day you had to take a lift to the 3rd floor then change lifts to go to the ground floor. This is not a problem on checking in or checking out but just annoying when you have to wait for two sets of lifts when you are in a hurry.

Being in Susukino is like being in Sapporo's "Times Square" -- quite pretty at night. What I love about Mercure's Susukino is the location most. We walked easily to all of the shopping areas in Susukino -- there were lots, including a five story daiso -- the best one I think in Japan (and I've been to more than you can imagine). There was a summer Sapporo Beer Festival going on at Odori park. Walked there. Checked out Nijo market in the morning. Walked there. Ate delicious ramen and delicious japanese breakfasts ALL WITHIN A BLOCK of the hotel. The front desk service was also excellent. I had to ship off (via a popular luggage courier) two suitcases to my next destination. I had never done it before and know it can take long. I asked them late in the evening when things really slowed down and they were so good and filling in the papers for me and explaining to me the costs. Painless and so worth me not having to lug those two suitcases with me. (I will do a separate review about Yamato Black Cat courier service! :-)). They recommended a terrific izakaya and cancelled another reservation I had made earlier on my own at another place. All in all, a great trip because of this hotel.

We, my wife and me, stayed here for a night of our way back from Furano. A very well located , nice well decorated hotel, good staff. What was dissapointing was the fact that the front desk staff didn't really help us in proper directions. Lack of proper English communication. Rooms and bed were well equipped and good view of overall Sapporo. Close to most of the Sapporo attractions and department stores around the area.

This was our first visit to Sapporo, and we booked to stay at this hotel given its ratings on TA. I'm glad to say that we were not disappointed since it is located near where most of the action is! Looking at the map, this hotel might seem somewhat too far south of Sapporo station but it's an easy walk (either at ground level or along their interconnected subterranean malls) through strips and strips of busy areas, and it was helpful to burn off some of the calories from the great Hokkaido food! The hotel staff were prompt, friendly and efficient, the room spacious and comfortable and this certainly contributed to a very fun visit to this great city!

We stayed for only one night in August 2017. The room was spacious, clean, modern and very well equipped. The hotel is close to the train station, so the taxi will be around 1,000 JPY only. For dinner we walked to one of the Toriton Sushi outlets (must eat place), which took us around 20 minutes. Staff was professional and friendly and we would have loved to stay longer.

Everything was great. - Greeted by friendly front desk agent upon check in - smooth check in - agent even provide me with map and information about the area - room were spacious enough for us - amenities was 👍👍 - but the extra bed was found with blood stain, AND THIS IS THE ONLY BAD POINT - breakfast was good - overall was an enjoyable stay there!

Everything from check in to check out was a breeze. The front desk staff speaks English and was very helpful, even in calling our next hotel to put in a particular room request. The choice at breakfast was ample and food was quite tasty. Especially enjoyed the crab broth with milk for Saturday breakfast. The rooms are small, but that's a standard Japan feature. They're very well laid out and clean. I'm particularly picky when it comes to clean bathrooms and Mercure gave me no chance to complain. The location is ultra convenient - it's surrounded by eating places, there's a 24-hour convenience store right under the hotel, and it's a stone throw from many attractions and shopping areas. Parking behind the hotel was a breeze and very reasonably priced - 1275 yen/day. We stayed with two young kids and were very happy with the hotel. Thanks to the wonderful staff and management. Would definitely stay again next time we are in Sapporo.

As per all reviews, this hotel is situated a perfect location. It is near to shopping, metro, restaurant and many more! We are surprise that with all the advantages above, they provide a comfortable and relatively spacious room, and room rate is absolutely affordable.
