I have been coming to the Intercontinental SP for years for business because the staff is truly fantastic. They go out of their way to meet your needs and I wanted to give a long overdue thank you to Maesta - he has been incredibly helpful and goes out of his way to accommodate guests. On this visit I also had the pleasure of working with Veronika. She was kind, thoughtful and attentive and went out of her way for me. Thank you! On top of all this, the entire staff is terrific and meets the high standards of the Intercontinental chain. The breakfast, also is excellent and the club room is very nice (although my favorite will always be the club in Boston!). The rooms are standard Intercontinental fare - large very nice rooms and impeccably maintained. The hotel is dated in terms of decor - I really like it, but it isn't modern, except for the electronics (tv, Bose radio, etc). If you want a high end experience in an older building of SP, this is it - much better than the more modern Renaissance for example - with its modern look, but smaller rooms. Hotel location is very good for business and a short taxi ride away from some of the best restaurants in the city. Room service is good, meals are standard Intercontinental - good but really can't compare to the restaurants nearby (as usual). I highly recommend the Intercontinental SP - and again I can't say enough about Maestra, Veronika and the rest of the staff!! Better than any Inter I have stayed at (and I have been to many...).

I chose this hotel due to its excellent reviews, InterContinental reputation, location and because I am a platinum member with IHG. I contacted the hotel beforehand sharing that I was celebrating a special occasion. I had a very friendly check in and was warmly welcomed, and we were issued an upgrade! I had a welcome gift waiting for me! Thanks. The room was great, spacious, clean, modern, luxury. The sitting area was comfortable. At night, we had turn down service and some treaties. The only negative is that we had a busy sightseeing agenda, we did not use the hotels gym or pool.

We chose Inter Continental Sao Paulo for the short visit. Located in a nice area, room good, but a bit old fashioned, fitness ok but music too loud, grrr....in overall the music was too loud everywhere in the lobby area and even in the elevators. It rained when we went out, asked umbrellas. We had to sign a paper that we borrowed two umbrellas. Don’t you trust your clients? The best in this hotel was the club floor and it’s service with Ms M and Mr B. You were great! And the food as well as drinks were very good. So book a club floor access. In overall, our stay was ok, nothing spectacular in this hotel.

Great location, modern comfortable rooms and friendly professional staff. Rates vary significantly and if you can get a good one, this is the place to stay. Nice little swimming pool too. I got a double upgrade to a top floor suite with good views so was very happy! (The turn down service is unusual late, about 2130.)

I have mixed feelings about this hotel, as they try to charge me for an upgrade or the club lounge every time I come, no other hotel I stay at in the world does this. The hotel is feeling a bit dated overall. Location, service and breakfast excellent. My room had both a tub and a shower - I love that. The bank machine in the lower level a huge rip off so don't use it (exchange rate a crime, I lost $50 in a $250 wd). My room did not have black out blinds, but my colleague's room did, so maybe an oversight? I will be back as the location suits me fine but hope for some improvements as they are always trying to upsell, its like the check in staff have sales targets they need to meet. I also had trouble with check out but the issue was resolved.

We completed a terrific holiday in São Paulo having had a perfect stay at the InterCon São Paulo. The hotel is ideally located one block off Paulista Ave in the heart of the financial center. A short walk from the main avenue, metro and many areas for dining and shopping. The property was updated a few years ago and now sports a modern and chic look. The lobby area is welcoming with an expansive area to enjoy a drink from the lobby bar. The rooms were all updated as well and are very comfortable. While mainly a business hotel, we were on vacation and felt that this location was perfect and better yet, so was the hotel! The hotel is staffed with very friendly and helpful team members. We took full advantage of their assistance for reservations for dinners, recommendations on places to see, shop, etc. In particular, Peter was extremely helpful at the concierge and executive check in desk. He made two particular recommendations that were memorable experiences with the very best food. Kinoshita (Japanese/Sushi) and Fasano (Italian). 5 star restaurants! We had access to the club lounge where Benjamin helped us to learn some Portuguese and made the very best Caipirinha cocktails. Bruna was equally helpful in the mornings with our breakfast, and with some local help for laundry services. And, we are truly very appreciative of Renata who is in charge of guest relations. She was fantastic and ensured we were well cared for by the entire team. One of the things we truly love and appreciate about the team members at INterContinental properties is their desire to get to meet us, and know us. It enriches our experiences and the team at the São Paulo InterCon did just that. They were a big part of why we had such a wonderful trip to the City. A few other notes, the rooms have been updated and provide a desk top charging station that does not require an adapter. The beds are very comfortable and the amenities are plentiful. Transportation from the airport was arranged by the hotel and was perfect. This is a top 3 hotel in São Paulo. We highly recommend it.

Just find it ridiculous that InterContinental Sao Paulo cannot have both cool air and heating on at the same time on their AC. Freezing at their hotel but because Brazil is "sub tropic' their words not mine the heat has been turned off regardless what is the outside temperature.

I went to the club lounge on the 20th flrone night and went to the toilet. The door knob accidentally broke after I closed the door and I was locked in for like couple of minutes. I had to knock on the bathroom door and got out with the help of cleaners from outside. I did not complain about that coz I thought it was just an accident. When I was leaving the lounge about one hr later, at the front desk lady in the lounge told me not to smoke in the toilet (which I never did) ! What a surprise! I said I did not smoke there, and she insisted that I did smoke because she knew I was a smoker and the cleaner smelled of smoke in the toilet!!! After some clarification, she eventually apologized admitting that she might be mistaken. This really made me guess whether it was a preemptive accusation to prevent my possible complaint later on about the broken door knob. I thought the issue was resolved by that time anyway. Btw, there was a false fire alarm that night at the hotel before the incident. And the waiter at the lounge told me it was because someone smoked in the hotel rooms. Not sure whether that had anything related to the front desk lady's accusation. But this actually proved my point: had I smoked in the toilet, they would have fire detector to detect it. Bigger surprise waited for me later. They tried to charge me for $250 for smoking in the lounge -which never happened - when I checked out! I told the hotel again that I didn't smoke there and the front desk lady in the lounge already agreed to that that night. They said they would hold onto my credit card authorization until they checked. The staff just rolled his eye, saying "u got to be careful some time." What? Not sure how the hotel can assume that they were right over its customers! It was extraordinary that they did not admit mistakes and kept holding onto their stubbornness and false accusation! I had to admit that overall service of the hotel was superb, but that incident and their false accusation, especially the way their inabilility to correct mistakes, totally ruined my perception of the hotel. Absolutely unacceptable for a 5-star hotel!!

Maybe it's the market but the rate at this hotel was very pricey and it's supposed to have been one of the top hotels in Sao Paulo but for me it felt quite old and tired - not at all up to the standards that I had come to associate with Intercontinental Hotels around the world. Carpets and common area finishes seemed worn out and tired. Rooms did not have any of the latest features that have become common in luxury hotels over the last decade - such as USB or smartphone/tablet plugs conveniently accessible. There were no dimmers on lights. There were no blackout shades on the windows which for an international city like Sampa seems odd. I had one meal at the restaurant and it was not served in the way that the menu described or pictured, and also was not that great. I barely ate the meal and yet the waiter, who appeared to possibly even be in some type of management role at the bar, didn't bother to ask me if the food was ok since it was barely eaten. I wasn't fishing for a discount and I just paid the bill...other than asking for a correction on a drink where I was overcharged...but I thought again for a brand like Intercontinental those are the details usually not missed so I was slightly disappointed there as well. The service/staff couldn't have been nicer - Maesto at the front desk was very pleasant and extremely helpful - and that is always important so on that end the brand lives up to its promise, but I would not likely choose to stay at this property in the future unless it's renovated. I'll look for boutique hotels next time.
