InterContinental São Paulo

Maybe it's the market but the rate at this hotel was very pricey and it's supposed to have been one of the top hotels in Sao Paulo but for me it felt quite old and tired - not at all up to the standards that I had come to associate with Intercontinental Hotels around the world. Carpets and common area finishes seemed worn out and tired. Rooms did not have any of the latest features that have become common in luxury hotels over the last decade - such as USB or smartphone/tablet plugs conveniently accessible. There were no dimmers on lights. There were no blackout shades on the windows which for an international city like Sampa seems odd. I had one meal at the restaurant and it was not served in the way that the menu described or pictured, and also was not that great. I barely ate the meal and yet the waiter, who appeared to possibly even be in some type of management role at the bar, didn't bother to ask me if the food was ok since it was barely eaten. I wasn't fishing for a discount and I just paid the bill...other than asking for a correction on a drink where I was overcharged...but I thought again for a brand like Intercontinental those are the details usually not missed so I was slightly disappointed there as well. The service/staff couldn't have been nicer - Maesto at the front desk was very pleasant and extremely helpful - and that is always important so on that end the brand lives up to its promise, but I would not likely choose to stay at this property in the future unless it's renovated. I'll look for boutique hotels next time.

Stay is fantastic. Service is intuitive and professional. Breakfast is good. Near to paulista. Staff were very good but few came to my contact... renato, sadrak and renata were excellent. We were part of CHANDON passion launch event.

Imagine being 10,000 km away from home, you hand your (obscure EU country) passport to the reception employee and in return you hear an excited greeting in your (extremely obscure) language. Your staff member Peter and I share the same random nationality and though I don't really speak the language (family heritage) I was pleased beyond belief, to the point where I immediately got on the phone to my mother to tell her. That truly made me feel comfortable and home. Koszonom szepen Peter!! [Also, the older gentleman from your room service staff was lovely, going so far as to tell me in kind but stern Portuguese to make sure to lock my door after his departure so I will be safe. Very thoughtful.]

Let me start with the good. They have an amazing breakfast. They even had a Japanese oriented section ( I guess its for all the Japanese business folks that goes to Sao Paulo) The room are comfortable and clean, the service is very good. If you are looking just for a place to stay, this should be a great place. The view was lackluster (but they can simply just move the building), plus the place needs some renovation, the lobby seemed a bit damp and cramped. My feeling is this is mostly catered strictly to business people. My platinum status was not recognized nor was and upgrade offered. Maybe it needs IC Royal Ambassador. However, overall its pretty decent IC property.

Have been Travelling to São Paulo and stayed at the Intercontinental. Great hotel and such a friendly staff. The Executive Floor and Lounge are great. Concierge is always available and willing to help. Since Portugese is not my primary language this was very helpfull. When I return to São Paulo I definitely will stay here again. Top notch hotel!

Not really up to normal Intercontinental standards in Asia or Europe Staff very friendly and efficient Walls paper thin so can hear noise at night clearly. Probably also why the TV volume is capped so low Rooms well appointed if slightly dated. Shower was an issue as every now and then water went steaming hot Good large comfortable bed. Room service good. Restaurant average but okay for breakfast. Lobby bar was bright and good Swimming pool was freezing and about a foot deep. Area around pool was good Phone at pool and in room did not work Gym had good equipment and clean. However staff stood in a group talking and trying to look cool but seriously failing :)

I started with a several days reservation, but I had to break it in the middle of my stay! The personnel of the hotel "Maesta" accommodated me like a pro, he came out with the best solution possible! Thanks to Intercontinental, I'll come back here for sure!

I agree with other reviewers, the front desk staff is outstanding. My room is excellent and the hotel is well placed, right in the city center. The food is also quite good, I recommend the risotto especially (seafood risotto, and asparagus risotto are both excellent). Maesta at the front desk did everything he could to assist me on my arrival, and that was quite a bit as I arrived early with awkward luggage and other issues. My friend had recommended the Intercontinental from his stay in SP, and I agree.

The hotel upgraded me to their best room and I suppose they meant biggest. It had a conference area in the front with sofa and TV and working table the. Into the room suite with a large comfy bed which was well lit and had a very large bathroom complete with a jacuzzi tub. Standard amenities and nice powerful shower. The room was complete with an nespresso machine which was perfect for me. A very comfortable room and I wish I had longer than a few hours to spend there. The hotel bar seemed lively and mostly hotel guest and perhaps some evening entertainment for some gentlemen. I failed to spend very long in the bar other than to pass through on the way to the room.

I go the InterContinental in Sao Paulo for work once or twice a year, and I wouldn't go anywhere else. Not only is the location very convenient, but the rooms are very comfortable and, most importantly, service is top notch. Maesta, Renata, Claudio, André and the others even helped me out when I lost my wallet - they were very helpful and responsive. They just know how to make their guests enjoy their stay and exceed expectations. I couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough.
