Being a fan of architecture, the Ritz-Carlton Sanya is beautiful. The buildings look like a traditional Chinese palace. Beautiful decor and grounds. Lovely white sands beach. The like to call it China's Hawaii. I have been to Maui, Kaui and The big Island. This ranks with some of the nicest beaches and resorts I have stayed at in those places. Dining was first class as was service. Rooms were spacious. Western toilets.Lots of couples getting married including a group ceremony. Many Russian and Chinese. Not too many Americans. we were very comfortable. Went off site and toured some villages. Again, often mistaken for Russian. Funny when my older daughter starts speaking in perfect Mandarin to them.
It is my 15 mons baby first time visit Sanya, as a loyalty Marriott Rewards Membership, Marriott group hotels are always my prior choices. Ritz is famous for its excellent service, any where any time. That is also the main reason we selected Ritz after seriously comparison with STRegis. Ritz Sanya Yalong bay hasn't let us down. Guest relations team and front desk team gave us deep impression. Similar ocean views, similar decoration styles, the most competitive product is service. Here I would like show my family big appreciations to Cynthia Zhang, a pretty young girl who picked us for the check-in process. She considered everything meticulously, while that time my baby was sleeping, she tried to avoid to wake her up. Meanwhile, thanks to Guoguo played with my noisy baby, Huanhuan gave her littler gift and Renee, working they all provided excellent services. Thanks a lot to Ivy Yuan, before our arrival she sent mails asked details and did her best to meet our requirements. Specially appreciate to the house keeping team be responsible for room 2401, you made several lovely designs made baby laughing. Unfortunately, there was a unhappy episode on Nov. 9 morning around 10:20 in the swimming pool, we had a following photographers, whom received Ritz authority access budge. We respect the secure guard's job and knowing your responsibility well, but we were very disappointed at the attitude he directly let the photographer go and unbending manner to us. Since we obeyed the rule of ritz hotel, and not affected others. There are also other photographers with access budget with other guests in the Ritz resorts. I never met this situation in another Marriott corp. hotels, we could only recognize the training for Sanya Ritz were not well covered everybody. Here I will not repeat the situation, if someone be interested, I could repeat. I don't want to blame anybody, just reported this issue to the hotel Mgr. We are satisfied with his respond and hope this situation won't happen again. Thanks Regards Bo
Let me start by saying that all qualities of rooms, decors, and grounds meet the standards of a Ritz Carlton Hotel. However, what sets this hotel apart is the people. This level of service is being produced by every single Ritz Carlton Ladies and Gentlemen you meet in this property, from hskp staffs, to concierges, to butlers, hotel sales, spa agents, gym staffs and of course the club lounge staffs. My three days at this property made me feel so welcomed that I believe would be my only choice of hotel when I come back to Sanya. Most of the people I've met when to hospitality school and genuinely want to provide the utmost personalized service. Rooms: Splurge for a beachfront oceanview villa if you want to superior service and ample of rooms for kids and elders. However, a club oceanview room would do if you are traveling solo or as a couple. Gym: Modern day luxury equipment and facility to do anything from weights to cardio. They even have a yoga and taichi room facing a serene pond shared with the Hilton Sanya. The beach and pool: Ample of choices from infiniti pool to beachside pool to kids pool. Even on crowded weekends you can still grab a cabana and seats with free flow of water and towels. Service is overall suberb and they all greet you by name. The Club Lounge: This is the highlight of my stay. Please, if you stay at a Ritz Carlton, choose to stay at a room with club access. The team, headed by Sofia, is the best lounge staff team I've ever encountered. They are so precise to details, caring, attentive, and welcoming. The Ritz Club offers breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, Hors d'oeuv and chocolate flow every day! To give credit to the most amazing ladies and gentlemen at this property. I would like to thank them dearly. They include: Sofia Li, Eva (club lounge), Amber (Sales), Cissi (Spa Agent), Kazi & Derek (Gym), and all those who have helped me to made my stay so memorable. Thank you Ritz Sanya Management team for such a professional performance!
We wanted a seaside break, during our 2 weeks China trip, and Sanya is a good location. We chose the Ritz after an excellent experience at Ritz Chengdu and we were not disappointed. Ritz Sanya is beautiful and well managed. We unfortunately arrived 3 days after a Typhoon meaning beach damage and we couldn't get to the beach for 3 days (huge steep slope and small trucks working on it to rebuild the slope/beach). We walked the beach on the last day and found very nice shells (you also get shells, at turndown! Very nice gesture). The hotel has 3 large outside pools (never crowded). The one we used (beachside) had a heated floor meaning the water was nice to swim in, in the mornings, but nearly too warm in the afternoon (thermal spa temperature by 4pm) with the September sun. The hotel is quite large and you can borrow (deposit needed) a wheelchair to navigate its long corridors, should a member of your family need it. We chose a club floor room with daily access to the club lounge (=5 meals/food presentation a day which is practical for a quick nibble). Very lovely breakfast buffet (eggs cooked to order; both congee and porridge stations; tropical fruits; Nespresso; etc.). I just found the tea selection 'out of place ' for China. A tea nation should, in my opinion, present fresh tea leaves under a chinese brand and not bagged tea showing a German brand. The hotel shops revolved around 1 underwear/swimwear Italian brand and 1 boutique selling mainly fashionware and some items for the beach. There was also a luxury car showroom. I would have loved to find some local souvenirs / specialties shop instead. The ice cream parlour displays a large selection of original cream based flavours and tropical fruits lollipops (freshly made). Prices = high end European ones. Many many many thanks to the club lounge manager and her staff. Tiffany (from Xian) was a real charm and very professional. I wish her a beautiful career. Many thanks to the trainees from Nepal too (club lounge and pool). Spa : selection of treatments and massages. Nice welcome and very good local tea. Massage therapists should be advised not to press too hard on older people (for the chinese acupressure massage) as it triggered a vivid pain in my mother's shoulder that is still there more than 4 weeks after the massage.
With all the Ritz hotels I have stayed, this is one of the tops. The hotel provided the free upgrade to a gorgeous ocean view room so I can enjoy the sunrise. The hotel also provided me local fresh fruit every day, love them! I was invited to the cocktail party and enjoyed talking with a few managements including the general manager Hoss, Eileen, and Lily. Surprise I won one of the prizes and got some Ritz reward points! And everyone works in the hotel is very friendly and helpful, especially the gentleman, 兰小宝, who helped my room service. He introduced me the local activities and places for good seafood; through him, I learned many more places in addition to my original list that worth visiting, therefore I extended my 3 days vacations to 5, and I am glad about the decision. The swimming pool is very pretty, I enjoyed swimming in and reading books by the pool as well.
We stayed for 5 nights, and overall, were extremely pleased. Would definitely go back. I think most of the other reviews hit the good sides, so I won't go into too much detail on that. Facilities, restaurants, kid-friendliness, it was all a hit. Our two-year old had a blast, whether it was in the kids pool during the day, or spotting frogs hopping around on the grass at night. However there were a few odd things that made our stay less than perfect. 1) Some things in the room were in a state of disrepair. The shaving mirror was hanging precariously on the wall, and the bathtub leaked. The latter wasn't a huge issue, but our 2-year-old bathed just about every night, and each time, half of the bathroom floor ended up flooded. 2) Although Room Service was great, prompt, courteous etc., I found it strange that I ordered an Americano every afternoon, and every time, got a different version. One time it was a cup, another time a carafe, another time a half-carafe. 3) My wife spotted a cockroach during the breakfast buffet one morning. I wasn't too fazed by this, but she was pretty upset considering how expensive the breakfast was. 4) Coffee service during the breakfast buffet was spotty. There was no self-serve coffee, and although on the first morning a server found us immediately and served coffee, on subsequent mornings I had to go find the server myself to ask them to bring coffee. 5) Over-helpful staff. On a few occasions, staff members were a bit too helpful. I know that sounds strange, but for example, at one of the restaurants, the server stood by our table for about five whole minutes explaining one of the dishes, and talked the entire time. At another restaurant, out server approaching literally about every 3-4 minutes to ask how things were, if we needed anything etc. I guess I shouldn't complain too much about thorough service, but it was a bit annoying. 6) Strange lighting setup. Most of the room lighting was accessible only by the bedside interface, which wasn't very convenient, and also very confusing when we first got into the room. The switch at the front door is only a master on/off switch. 7) No shower/bathroom curtain. The only thing separating the bathroom from the main room was a semi-translucent glass wall. Same for shower and toiler. With hot water to steam the glass, you could get some privacy, but otherwise, not so much. For our family it was fine, but in some situations could have been awkward (For example what if my mother-in-law decided to drop by while I was showering, and my wife wasn't paying attention and let her in the room. Such a scenario is not too inconceivable in our family) Again, these were minor things, and nothing worth lodging complaints about. The staff was great, with many friendly faces who remembered our names and were very attentive. On one occasion when one of the poolside restaurants had run out of coconuts, one of the managers personally went to harvest a coconut for my wife, which she was thrilled about. To reiterate myself, it was a great stay, and we would go back again.
My husband and I went to Sanya to celebrate our anniversary. We booked the Garden villa with the romance package. Our butler, Yang Shuai (扬帅) had provides his professional and exceptional service during our stay. The villa looks very nice and neat. Although there was a gecko showed up in our bathroom, when we called the front desk, they sent someone right away to catch it. I forgot to ask the person's name. He was very helpful. We also joined the BBQ out on the lawn. Everyone who served during the BBQ was nice and helpful. There was a girl who would re-fill my drink the second when it was empty. The second night, we ate dinner at the Sand's restaurant. The staff members were very professional and courteous. The manager would come by after each dish and ask if we like it. When we don't like the soup, the Chef even came and talked to us about if she could make something that we actually like. These kinds of services are seriously went beyond exceptional service. We didn't like the soup was not because it was not good. It's just personal favor. And they did exchanged a different type of soup for us. When I mentioned to the Chef that I really liked the desert that was provided in the BBQ the night before. The Chef went somewhere and got me several pieces of the same desert. At that moment, I told myself if I go to different places to travel, the Ritz-carlton will be my No. 1 go-to option.
We stayed for 5 nights in ocean view villa at the Ritz Carlton Sanya. The recort is beautiful and plenty of swimming pools to relax. Butler team gave us a warm welcome at the main entrance and did a express check in service in room which is very efficient and private.I would like special thanks to Villa manager Yoomee who is very professional and considerate. Her warm and sincere service really impressived me. I will recommend my family and friends choose Ritzcarlton as first choice when they travel in Sanya.
The service at the ritz is exceptional. I had an issue with my room and the hotel manager Eva Lee provided exceptional assistance to resolve our issue. She is professional and courteous and a pleasure to deal with. The general hotel staff are friendly and accommodating. Jack from concierge helped me book an outside excursion and even followed up with me to make sure everything is ok. Aside from staff, the rooms are a little on the dated side. I expected something more modern. And if more of the staff spoke English that would be helpful to non Chinese speaking guests.
Before I visit the hotel, I’m telling the hotel staff it was my wife’s birthday but we couldn’t do any celebration since we are in travel/work. I’d ask if the hotel can prepare something. The answer is a plain no or I need book a package for special birthday celebration. It’s real disappointing since those thing was done nicely by other hotel. But Ritz’s service turns out to be very disappointing. If it’s an old Ritz-Carlton with bad customer care. I’d rather book some other hotel with much newer renovation.
