I know everyone has there own opinion on this hotel and Santorini in general but me and my Fiancé just had a week here and it was unbelievable. Santorini in general is obviously amazing. From the sunsets in Thira or Oia (pronounced Ia) to the amazing black sandy beaches in Kamari or Perissa. But just looking at the hotel, the photos really don't do it justice. From the moment we arrived at the hotel to the moment we unfortunately had to be dragged away, the staff were so friendly and spoke incredibly good English making it very very easy. The numerous pools make it easy to have a bit of chill time and also have your own space in what is a massive hotel. With the sheer size of the place you would think that cleanliness and rubbish might be an issue but I promise you this hotel was the cleanest and well kept hotel I have ever been to. I honestly didn't see a single bit of rubbish on the floor the whole holiday and this obviously adds to the amazing atmosphere this hotel creates. You are within walking distance to Thira, the capital and the taxi and bus stations are literally 10 mins down the road. The supermarket is also about 10 minutes down the road and this is ideal too! It truly is in a great location and you can easily see the sunset from the main entrance too if you don't want to traipse into main Thira. You can sit on the wall on the other side of the road and just watch the sun disappear. Honestly it's breathtaking and something not to be missed. We only had bed and breakfast but the food was excellent and varied. Not a lot else to say on that subject, it is what it is. The rooms were incredible and again the pictures really don't do them justice. You're just going to have to see them for yourself. The AC was a life saver though and this you can keep on 24/7 if you wish! All in all it was an amazing holiday! Dreams come true kind of stuff and the hotel had a massive part to play in that. I never knew why people always went to the same places and the same hotels when there is so much of the world to see. But I get it now! You definitely won't regret staying here. We'll definitely be back for our honeymoon in 2019!!! Hope this helps!
My husband and I were on a tour of Greece and stayed here for 3 nights. We had a lovely room located near the pool on the restaurant level. Our room was clean and ready for us upon check in. We had a queen bed and a nice modern bath. Huge walk in shower. It was everything we needed and I was able to walk out of our room right to the pool. There were loungers with umbrellas located around the different pool areas. I believe there were 4 different pool areas. There was a great breakfast buffet every morning with lots of hot and cold choices. We had dinner there one evening which was buffet. It was ok. Nothing special. We also had a light lunch at the pool bar one afternoon and service was great. The hotel is located about a 10 minute walk from the centre of Fira which was great for us. Close enough but out of the hubbub of activity. Font desk staff were alway helpful & pleasant. We very much enjoyed our stay here.
Just spent 3 nights here and had a lovely time. Plenty of pools to choose from, the staff were super friendly and accommodating. We are a family of 6 and although we needed 2 rooms and our large room easily accommodated 4 people with the upstairs loft having a double bed that the kids loved. Easy parking onsite and a pretty easy 700m or 5min walk into the southern part of Fira. Supermarket also only 5 mins walk away. highly recommend.
WE had read great reviews of this hotel , hence chose it for our stay. However it was not upto my expectations. The breakfast is very average. The rooms are also average with bare minimum facilities. The good thing is the location , its walking distance from Fira Town. I must warn everyone about the extremely indifferent restaurant staff, they cared two hoots for service and one day when I requested them for a vegetarian pasta , the girl bluntly refused saying that they do not make any improvisations on the menu. Food options are limited and expensive. The front desk staff are very helpful and polite.
Stayed for a week at the El Greco in one of their suites. Beautiful room and we were surprised to find a small kitchen area also, with fridge and kettle. Our room was near to the reception and we were right next to one of the pools, most people were quite good and did not reserve the sunbeds and just used them when they actually needed them, which meant you could nearly always get a sunbed. Some people have moaned about the breakfast but to be fair it was fine, plenty of choice, hot and cold food available and the staff were quick to clear away the table. A special mention has to go to Dimitra the concierge a wonderful lady, nothing is too much trouble for her, she is a great asset to the hotel. Fira is only five minutes easy walk away, bus station about ten minutes walk if that
A lovely comfortable hotel with modern decor - we particularly liked the low rise approach and were pleased to have a room away from the main area - a small "enclave" of rooms over two floors surrounding a beautiful pool, near the spa and with its own breakfast area. The room was spacious and well equipped (having read previous reviews we knew to take our own travel kettle!) with beautiful views and its own terrace and balcony. The location is good - a ten minute walk into Thira - but we were pleased we had a car as the local supermarket was ridiculously expensive (16 Euros for a bottle of wine compared to 1 Euro a five minute drive away!) and the restaurants in Thira tend to be expensive tourists traps - we decided not to pay 28 Euros for a hamburger and instead eat out in the surrounding villages in fantastic tavernas and restaurants which all offered amazing value. Our only criticism was that breakfast was pretty poor. There was a huge range on offer but no fresh fruit juice (it tasted like orange squash) most of the fruit was tinned and the coffee from the machine was pretty awful. Buffet style cooked breakfasts are available but they didn't look very appertising.
The service we received was wonderful. The staff were organized and very helpful. The rooms were nice sized and clean. The location was centrally located and a walk away from shopping and local restaurants. I would recommend staying at this hotel. Again thank you to the staff they were great!
Very nice location with spectacular views across the street, be very careful crossing the street. The resort was very clean and the pools were magnificent. The grounds were very nice and well maintained. Staff was professional and courteous, my room was clean, the bathroom was very nice and modern, l really enjoyed the patio in front of the room. I did speak with someone there who requested a room change due to noise from the busy road out front. One complaint I do have is the price of the pool bar, this was solved by taking a quick walk to a very nice grocery store 10 minutes away, I was not the only person I spoke with who did the same, and a couple of bottles of water in the fridge waiting for a guest checking in would be nice. All in all a very nice place that I would definitely recommend.
Extremely conveniently located, just walking distance from the old town of Santorini. It's a very busy hotel since a lot of touring companies use this hotel for their guests, but the service is good, they have couple of pools which are evenly distributed. My room was at the far end of the resort and had a huge terrace attached to it. Loved the view from the terrace. El Greco is Highly recommended
Wonderful place to stay while in Santorini. Rooms are large, comfortable and clean. Resort is beautifully set out and has many pools, which always ensures that you do not feel overcrowded. Only a very short walk to main part of town, where you have access to many shops, cafes, restaurants and services.i Staff are absolutely wonderful and nothing is too much trouble. Congratulations El Greco, we will definitely stay again.
