We stayed 3 nights at Aethrio and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is located adjacent to Oia’s Main Street and is an excellent location from which to explore Santorini. The staff was very friendly and the front desk was very helpful in giving us sightseeing tips and also for arranging our car rental. The only issue that we encountered was that our taxi driver form the airport was very mistaken about Aetherio’s location and dropped us off about a 15 minute walk from hotel (forcing us to drag our bags up hill on cobblestone streets, while asking for directions from the locals every few blocks - we had problems using Google Maps on our smartphones so it was rather frustrating and tricky to find the hotel) I highly recommend Aeherio but I would also recommend that you know how to find the hotel. Since the Greek language doesn’t use Latin alphabet, the locals were unfamiliar with Aetherio’s English spelling and had a hard time figuring out which hotel we were staying at. Even if our taxi driver dropped us off at the correct location, we would still need to walk about 5 minutes uphill.
This hotel is located in the heart of Oia. This is actually a very great value compared to other hotels in the area. The staff is also very helpful. They really helped us out for a late night ferry we had to take. Rooms were also great. Lots of space (compared to other hotels we stayed in Greece).
The Aethrio was a fantastic hotel experience in a Greek paradise. Sunset views from the hotel rooftop were spectacular. The hotel has a great location. Easy walking to restaurants and pristine island views. We are a family of 4 and our room was so spacious and clean. A small kitchenette made it easy for some light meals, though we ate out mostly. The pool area is quiet and calm and just perfect for relaxing. Hotel staff are really friendly and helpful. Easy to get around the island by bus or taxi. We used the bus on a trip to Thea and also to the beaches on the western side of the island.
This was our home for 4 nights, a group of 7 friends from Stockholm, in search of some tranquility and sun. it did not disappoint us. great hotel, great pool and great location. I would recommend this hotel for sure.
Where to start? This place is just gorgeous, beautiful rooms, clean, lovely pool, friendly staff, lovely breakfast, two minute walk to the town all for a very reasonable price. We stayed in a room with a massive ocean view balcony. The roof terrace is amazing for watching the famous sunset with a glass of wine.
Everything about Aetherio was amazing. A great room, excellent pool, nice breakfast. Georgia and Peri on reception, housekeepers Lili and Alna, and Arsenis who took care of our luggage, couldn’t have been more helpful. Together, you all made the visit a wonderfully memorable visit. The location is perfect, with a private sunset view balcony overlooking the sea, and is a two minute walk to the bustle of the beautiful town. We, and our friends, did not want to leave.
We stayed here as a couple for 2 nights 20/07/17. We caught the bus here (easy) from Perissa as our Anniversary treat. Following on from other Trip Advisor reviews we’d chosen room no. 17 , wow this was big, spacious, traditionally furnished, clean, great terrace and just lovely!!! The Aethrio is an oasis in the middle of Oia, you can walk out into the street and there are so many tourists, at one point we couldn’t move, but don’t let this put you off the views are absolutely stunning of the Caldera, but come back to the Aethrio and all was peaceful and calm with a lovely swimming pool. Breakfast was plentiful and varied and a great start to the day, you could sit inside our outside overlooking the pool. The staff at Aethrio are very polite, cheerful and very informative, a great asset to the hotel, a special mention to Aggeliki who we liased with and sorted out our stay, the best, thank you! No hesitation in recommending the Aethrio, this is a traditional hotel in the midst of everything you could want in Oia but this hotel has beautiful views at such reasonable price and don’t swayed by the mega expensive hotels that don’t really offer much more, loved it :)
Really pretty hotel, lovely staff and service. Very clean. Rooms are big and bright. Lovely. There is a swimming pool. Easy to walk all around Oia village and not too far from the sunset spot. Breakfast was small but more than sufficient. The hotel has a number of entrances. The main reception area is closed at night so if you arrive very early or late there is no reception. Just make sure to email the hotel. There are lot's of shops and restaurants near the hotel. The hotel was busy with a lovely atmosphere. Staff were really helpful from the start, anything like queries or sightseeing / transport options - they were more than glad to assist.
Think of those picture perfect postcards from Santorini and that's the feeling you'll experience at Aethrio Hotel. White painted buildings with lovely splashes of blue like much of the buildings in Oia (pronounced 'ear'), it is built in that serenely peaceful Greek island style. The rooms and facilities are classicly comfortable, relaxing and clean - though not ultra modern; so go elsewhere and pay top dollar if you want the latest in luxury. I travelled in September, so the weather was still very warm, but not oppressive. There is aircon in all the rooms, but those facing the afternoon sun still get fairly warm. Another issue is was water temperature and pressure in the showers. Fine at ground level I gather, but like me, if you had an upper level room, there were days when the water in the shower barely managed a cold trickle. Annoying - yes. But I'd definitely go back there if I could. I totally agree that the very best part of the hotel (indeed Santorini!!) was the irrepressible and gorgeous-of-heart receptionist Georgia!! Quite possibly the friendliest person on the planet, everyone will love her. As other reviewers have said, she has the biggest and warmest smile, always has time for every guest and their every need - and makes you feel like you are part of her family. The hotel pool is lovely, and not too small either. Not only can you watch Oia's famous sunsets from the rooftop terrace, but the nano second the red sun dips beneath the water on one side of Santorini, you can turn and watch the moon rise on the other. The hotel is perfectly situated in Oia, almost in the middle of everything (inc great restaurants), yet it's very quiet. Thoroughly recommended!!!
The hotel is very lovely, like many of the hotels in Santorini it is built in the traditional Greek islands architecture, the room or rather the apartment was so lovely it has a warm feeling and a touch of simple elegance, we loved it, very comfortable and clean, the hotel grounds are very pleasant and you can watch the sunset from the terrace. The breakfast was good and had just about everything that one would like to eat, unlike some buffet breakfasts which have a lot of food that one would never eat anyway. But the very best part of the hotel was the lovely and gorgeous receptionist Georgia she welcomed us with the biggest and friendliest smile, she offered us a welcome drink and she explained to us everything about the hotel and how to get around Santorini in a friendly and amicable way, I am sure she has done this a thousand times but when she did with us it seemed as she was doing it just for us like an old friend would. We would definitely come back again with more friends.
