My 2 daughters and I stayed in the Atherio in June. The weather was stifling as Santorini was experiencing a heat wave, over 37 degrees when we arrived. We had arranged a transfer from the airport through the hotel which we were very disappointed with. The guy who transferred us was exceptionally rude and became verbally aggressive to my daughter at one point. He left us stranded at the end of a hill which takes you to the hotel. We dragged our cases up the hill in sweltering heat after an 8 hour journey. I complained to the reception staff on my arrival. I was advised the transfer company used was not the regular one and we got an apology form the receptionist re same. We also got a lovely bottle of wine re compensation. Unfortunately when we got to our room there was no air con and as the reception closes at 9pm there was no one to contact. The next day we were advised we would have no air con as the service department was closed until Monday of the following week. We were leaving on Monday. Needless to say we were extremely disappointed with this and I expressed same to the receptionist. As a result we had sleepless nights. We were offered a change of room only to be advised it had been given to someone else while we were on a day trip which the hotel arranged for us! If it wasn't for these issues I would give the hotel a 5 star rating due to their location and facilities. The reception staff were very friendly and did try to accommodate us however at times we felt we were receiving lip service to our real issues. That said they did agree we had experienced unnecessary issues which should not have happened. Our shower also leaked out onto the main bathroom area. The fridge did not work properly so keeping water cool was also an issue. We had one of the top floor apartments which had the best view of the Caldera. Had everything else worked our experience of the Atherio would have been somewhat different. That said,The Atherio has something special about it and I will return and request a room where everything works!! Best wishes to all the staff!!!
Our family of 4 stayed here for 2 nights. Georgia was most friendly & helpfull. Perfect positioning in Oia, pool & rooftop lookout both lovely amenities. Staff helped us with our luggage between taxi drop-off & hotel both upon arrival & departure. Very clean.
This location can't be beat ! When you wake up at 10 am and walk down the streets its still empty without all the tourists being bussed in for the day ! The staff was very helpful with tips and things like adapters and iron etc. the breakfast was great ! The room was huge, especially in comparison to the other hotels we stayed in for our 2 week Greece trip . Really enjoyed your hotel, would stay again , definitely recommended.
What a gem! located in the heart of Oia, close to everything, but once in hotel grounds so peaceful. Small hotel with only 19 rooms/apartments. We had a sea and pool view. Small kitchenette , nice bedroom, clean comfy bed and great pillows! Small balcony which was great to sit out early evening with a carafe of wine from the hotel. The staff were brilliant, especially Periklis and Georgia. They couldn't do enough for you! Buffet breakfast was nice, could have varied up a little but fine. Food and drinks at the hotel were very reasonably priced. One night we decided we wanted to sit on sunset terrace and have our meal rather than going out into the town, we ordered salad, fruit and wine. when we were ready they bought it up to us . was a very nice evening. Warning there are no roads close to the hotels so recommend that use the hotel transfers so they take your bags for you. Aethrio is only maybe 50 yards from drop off point so not a major issue.
Just home from my 5th visit to Santorini in as many years. I stayed in Aethrio on my first visit and it was wonderful. Have stayed in other hotels in Oia on my other visits, before coming back to Aethrio for this recent trip. I can't fault them. The reception staff are wonderful, very welcoming and knowledgable. The rooms are traditional, airy and spotlessly clean. The breakfast buffet offers a varied choice and everything tastes so fresh and wonderful. I'm sticking with Aethrio going forward. It's my favourite place in Santorini.
This place is a gem. It is easy to reach from the bus/taxi stop without too many steps with your luggage! The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast was simple with a hot option. Our room was spacious with a vaulted ceiling and a kitchen area sufficient for simple meals. The pool area was mainly empty when we were there. Simple snacks we very reasonably priced. It's a quiet haven in what can be a bustling busy town as sunset nears. The sunset Terrace gives stunning views. I will return next year!
I can't express how perfect this hotel was! It is charming, clean, more than perfectly located right in the heart of Oìa, and has the kindest staff ever who are always one step ahead and help you with everything you need. It was such a wonderful visit and I can't wait to be back! Definitely one of my favorite places I have ever stayed! Such a great value for your money
Aethrio is located at the heart of Oia village and is a fantastic hotel!. The staff was very helpful and recommended us nice places to visit. The room was nice, two floors, big and comfortable. The "Sunset Terrace" is a valuable extra as there are people everywhere outside during sunset in Oia. Last but not least, Breakfast is buffet served until 10.30 and offer Free Wi Fi!. I think Aethrio is an intelligent choice in Oia!.
Stayed for 6 nights for a yoga retreat. Paracleus and Georgia are awesome at the front desk and so are the rest of the staff. They serve amazing brunch! The place is in the middle of Oia - just a minute walk from everything and yet, it felt quiet and exclusive! Love the quaintness of the rooms. Our room had a kitchenette but we never used it once.
Hi stayed here for 4 nights May 2017. the staff are very good and an asset to the hotel. very friendly. Georgie sorted the hairdressers for me, getting a great price, when I got lost trying to find it I came back to the hotel Arsenis look me to the place. Arsenis does a great job bringing your bags from the taxi to the hotel. Periclis at reception helped with location names from my photos. the hotel is in a great location just walk out the back door and be right where the restaurant and shops are. very good recommendations on where to eat by the staff. Breakfast was good, different eggs each day, plenty of cheese, ham, fruit and yoghurt. my room (7) had a huge balcony with 2 sun loungers and table and chairs, sunset view, so perfect for photos. Good pool and nice and clean. all in all a good hotel.
