Residence Inn by Marriott Santa Fe3.0 out of 5.0

My husband and I (along with 2 dogs) stayed at the Santa Fe Residence Inn for 7 weeks. We had sold our house and were waiting for the closing on our new home in another state. Now I'm not sure which I'm more unhappy about: leaving NM or that we've left the Residence Inn! The layout of the property feels lik you're in a peaceful, small village commons. The rooms are ample and are set up like studio apartments outfitted with a full kitchen, pretty good space to hide luggage and boxes (trust me, we had many!). I felt I was in my first apartment again. 3 pots & pans, a set of dishes for 4...you get what I mean. The grounds are well-kept and clean! The main building where you check-in is also where the buffet breakfast is served, and also has a separate living room where we often spent part of our afternoon. Daily newspapers are available (free) each morning, and a substantial choice of breakfast items are available...eggs, choice of breakfast meats, fruit, cheeses, sweet rolls, make-your-own waffles, cold cereals, etc., etc., etc. But even more wonderful are the people who work there. They make you feel like you are Family. I want to thank Carmella and Robin for their commeraderie and laughter; Michael and David and Charlotte at the front desk who are fabulous, always had big smiles, and helpfulness above and beyond; and Jesus, Rudolfo, Francisco, and Niel who helped us move our mountain of stuff into and out of our room (brave souls).
Comfortable rooms that you expect from Residence Inn, fee-free parking, no resort fee and easy access to I-25 make this an attractive option to the congested Plaza area. Located 10-15 minutes from the Plaza and 5-10 minutes from Museum Hill. There are no restaurants in a reasonable walking distance. Breakfast needs a little work. On my most recent stay (5 nights) scrambled eggs and sausage were served four mornings. On the fifth day bacon was substituted for the sausage. Pastries? No variety here either. I’ve stayed here numerous times and I know they used to served potatoes occasionally. Don’t know why they’re slacking. Don’t count on the Monday-Wednesday Mixer either. I’m told this location is one of the few with no liquor license and the food offerings were laughable.
Full kitchen, living room, two TV's, fireplace, and two queen beds. Very clean, ground floor unit. Complimentary breakfast with large variety of items. Very nice grounds with beautiful, well maintained pool area. Conveniently located. Staff was very friendly.
We needed a 2br/2ba and I liked their 2 story loft-style room. Beds were very comfortable. It could have used a little updating and had a weird musty smell. That bothered me since we were nowhere near a beach. Not sure what could have caused that.
This is a great place to stay in Santa Fe as it is centrally located, have comfortable rooms with the option to bring your own food in. As each room has a kitchenette, you pick which days to eat in, or during the week enjoy what they offer in the main-house. Quiet, pretty and nice amenities such as a pool, hot tub and gym.
this was a once night stay but the hotel (david) fixed a reservation I messed up, no hassle no problem and Michael and the front desk came down and fixed the alarm in our room. the nice thing is they just took care of things and made it easy. Really appreciate it and all the people who work here just take care of you.
This hotel has a lot of pros, and a few cons that kept it from 5 stars from me. Pros: - great location on a quiet street but easy access to major highways - village design that plays to the location and gives good feeling of space - rooms are large with plenty of room to spread out. Quite comfortable as well - staff were helpful and friendly Cons: - hotel is definitely showing some age and needs a refresh. Wear and tear showing, inside one out. - layout of hotel makes the breakfast, fitness center, etc a long outside walk if it is chilly. - some of the details definitely need attention. First time I’ve stayed in a hotel that the shower curtain was 6 inches too long and gathered up on the tub floor.
Decided to stay here last minute while passing through town and I wish we could have stayed longer. The staff was so friendly and helpful in giving us directions to a great Mexican restaurant (Maria’s). I loved that this place was so close to so many places. Our room was a great size with a fireplace and a little patio. We were excited to make our complimentary popcorn and use the glasses to drink the wine we brought. We parked very close to our door and just had to go up a couple stairs. The breakfast was delicious and again, the staff was friendly. I will definitely stay here again when in town.
We decided to stay off the Plaza this time. We've always enjoyed staying in the past at Loretto, Anasazi, El Dorado etc.... But, not having to pay resort fees and valet/parking fees was something not missed. Plus, as 60 year olds, we just started to use Uber. Which makes it better because you don't have to pay for parking or looking for parking. This made the trip much more enjoyable. The Residence Inn is only two miles away, and takes 6 minutes in the car. The Residence Inn was a nice place to have a comfortable stay. Having a full refrigerator, and dining area was a plus. The only negative we had was not being able to use real fire wood in the fire place. Those logs are TOXIC. Yes, we did one, no thanks! It would have been nice to have known before booking. Lastly, we are dog people. I take my dogs out constantly, and pick up their mess. But, I was always stopping to pick up other dog messes. You know why? Because I don't want to step in those at night. Dog were also let off their leashes like a dog park. It would be nice if there was signs around the property to remind guests. I want the Residence Inn to keep allowing dogs. I also would like to come back again and again. Thanks for a nice stay!
When asking for early check in as a gold member we were given no updates. Upon arrival were told the room wouldn’t be available for 3 hours and that the hotel was fully booked the night before. Something I knew to be false. Left to return the 3 hours later only to receive an app notification 30min later it was ready. The desk staff was simply rude with us and didn’t even look up the reservation or wear a name tag per policy. They also failed to answer their phone for 2 hours. Had another in our group sent to an already occupied room, exposing them to a security risk. Were informed they had an ice machine, waited for their assistance 30min before they said they infact didn’t. I will never stay or recommend this location. Highly over priced for what they offer.
