We stayed in one of lower units. Access to lobby, restaurant, pool, jacuzzi all just a few feet away. Rooms are average sized but nice, new and clean inside. Lots of Galapagos's famous wildlife just feet away from our balcony. Very good location, close to restaurants, shops and activities centers. Staff service was great
MY family of five ( three kids ages 19,17 and 12) recently stayed at this hotel during Xmas week. The hotel is marketed as a luxury waterfront property.. However, it is far from this.. When we arrived we went right to the pool to relax. Upon arrival to the pool area we found no lounge chairs and a VERY dirty pool. The from desk said they hope to have lounge chairs in a day or two. In the room my bed was right below the AC unit that was not functioning properly and was blowing cold air on me all night. The buffet breakfast is very limited, and we had to keep asking for them to bring out more food as their serving trays were empty. There is no Concierge (that speaks English) or anyone to help u make any plans. While sleeping a light in the hall right outside our room kept going on and off and lighting up our room. The rooms have a musty smell to them. The hotel really has NO services to offer guest, nor are they interested in making your stay comfortable.. I could continue, but this could go down as one of the worst hotels we've ever stayed in.. One last thing- The hotel looks nothing like the pictures on their website.. Also, our tour company Suretrek recommended it and they couldn't have been more wrong.. We were very disappointed with this hotel and our tour company Suretrek. BUYER BEWARE!!!
Loved my stay at Isla Sol. The hotel staff was professional, friendly and so helpful. The room was very nice and I loved the rainshower in the bath. Clean and comfortable - loved the bed. Breakfast was great - try the little pancakes (the chef's secret recipe.) Great photos of the water and the wildlife, including the sea lion who climbed into the boat, swam in the pool and slept under the trees. The only negatives were that it was an inside room, so I had no view and it was near the stairway so I was able to hear people going up and down the stairs. A room change was immediately offered but I opted to keep my room.
This hotel was nice in many ways, however, it was not very clean. I don't need a super fancy hotel, but I expect a disinfected bathroom and a clean room. I loved the view out of our room and the breakfast was nice.
Our family of 5 (parents, 3 young adult children) stayed here. It is across the street from it's sister hotel, Solymar, which is on the water. Never the less, we had 3 rooms in a row with a view of the ocean. We crossed the street for breakfast and lunch and the pool/hot tub. There is a lovely outdoor eating area with bar, in the pool area, right on the ocean, where it was lovely to have lunch or a late afternoon drink. You can sit there and watch all the dive bombing pelicans and blue footed boobys and sea lions. On the day we arrived there was a sea lion sleeping on a poolside bench and he hung out there all day either on the bench or right next to the pool. Everyone was very friendly. The hotel is in the center of town so short walking distance to shops, restaurants, the pier, and a snorkeling beach on the way to the Darwin Center. Don't miss watching all the activity at the fish market down the street, in the morning. We have no complaints and would stay there again. Rooms were very comfortable.
We stayed for 3 days in this overpriced hotel. Rooms: Best price rooms are unacceptable, they have no windows, I understand that are the cheaper solution offered, but are anyway not so cheap and at the same time a room with no windows because the only one window is facing the inner hotel stairs is privcyless and useless. Many others small but important details: Room safe was not working we had to ask to house keepers to fix it, room phone was not working, we asked house keepers to fix it but nobody has been able to fix it. Breakfast: It's fine. Service: People from reception are ok, I mean are polite and moderately available.
IslaSol is across the street from its sister location, Hotel Solymar, which is right on the water. Isla Sol has big rooms, Cable TV, free water to fill up your water bottles, and there is breakfast across the street, a pool across the street, a bar, a patio, and there are sea lions, blue footed boobies and iguanas that will visit you as they are not afraid of humans. The personnel was very helpful with suggestions for things to do and see and helped to make our vacation more fun. I suggest you do the bay tour first. Internet on the islands is iffy.
