The room was clean and comfortable and a good price. Our key cards quit working every morning, but the staff were helpful. They could definitely use some freshly brewed coffee with breakfast, instead of the yucky instant stuff, but I would stay again.
I wouldn´t recomend this hotel, the location is bas and the neighborhood seemed dangerous. No nearby restaurants, the taxy service takes too long, the internet was impossible to connect, the building and rooms need an remodelation.
Due to a fully booked week in Monterrey my company made reservation in this place and it is not really in Monterrey city but on the road to Saltillo. Just in the road. Durty room and bath. Feels unsecure. I stayed only one night and leave the place. Wifi didn't worked, at least I could use the computer at the business center.
We were in Monterrey for an important meeting at the US Consulate. When we arrived at the hotel we noted that the ceiling in the lobby had sprung a leak and there was a bucket on the floor of the lobby. The bucket was still there the next morning. The staff was very friendly and all of the paperwork was ready. The parking area was convenient and well protected. The rooms were small but adequate with the usual mid-to-economical hotel amenities. However there was no ice bucket, the hotel had run out of them, that is a first for me. The included breakfast had a good selection, but the beans and eggs were cold and inedible. We ultimately had to get breakfast elsewhere. More importantly the staff had not followed through with our request for a 6:30AM wake up call. As a result some members of our party woke up late and very nearly missed their appointment at the Consulate. All of these problems are immediately fixable, but this hotel will not get better than three stars from me until they are.
Well located to break a Dallas-to-Guadajara trip in half, with easy access to major thruways. Hotel is clean and comtemporary... comparable to Fairfield Inn in the States. I've also stayed at other City Express Hotels and found them very consistent.
I was so exhausted that I washed my face with cold water at night, thinking it would take time to get hot water to top floor. However, in the morning, I let the water run, and run and run. Finally, I contacted front desk and the hot was was broken and had been since the previous day. Why did they allow me to check into a hotel without hot water and NOT tell me? On the other side of Monterrey, going north, I noticed a new hotel being built. Hope it's not a City Express, since I will never stay at one again.
It is basic but meets all of most travelers needs. It was clean and quiet and a reasonable price. Front desk personnel were friendly and helpful. I would stay there again if I were passing through (on the outer 'loop' or by-pass) Monterrey. The breakfast was really the only negative - and it was a BIG negative.
This City Express is 5 miles north of the Saltillo/Monterrey cuota and the Periferico turn-off to N.Laredo. (Take road marked "Monterrey Libre") This hotel is convenient. Secure parking is nice and I noticed the guard there all the time. Continental breakfast next door is complimentary, but never tried it. The advertised rate, on their sign, outside the hotel, is $710 pesos, but small print says week end. Week-day rate is up to $830. The rates keep increasing, while repairs are lacking. Side door was stuck shut and the place is thread-worn. Plenty of hot water, but a used water bottle was left on the table. The manager was very good about replacing it. For some reason, Wi-Fi works on computer, but not on the iPhone. I'm going to try a different place next time.
they are definitely thieves. i traveled with alone with 3 yr old grandchild. the 2 security guards are brothers!! first it was scarey because they never would gv me a key to my room kept saying they would get it something was wrong with it. i left and they would just open it for me, they would not change my room, so i could not sleep, scared not sure if they would come in at night. i planned on staying a fews days but was scared so left early next morning . the security guard kept taking my luggage to my vehicle and wouldnot wait for me to go with him he made several trips and in the end they stole alot of expensive electronics and stuff. i was too scared since i was alone so i just left and let it go. thieves
please do not stay at this hotel it is not safe, the staff is terrible, we felt like someone was always watching us. Before we went up to our room we saw two man just walking around the parking lot, it was late so it scared me, after a few hrs. of sleep I woke up to some noise so we just got up and left.... don't stay there please!!!!
