The only thing that gave us pause was the daily change of towels, since California has been experiencing a serious drought. Everything else was excellent: property, staff, host, breakfast. We visit Santa Barbara yearly, and would stay here again.
The gardens were wonderful and the hostess was very friendly and helpful.
It was quiet away from the hustle bustle. Very quaint.
A nice and quiet area close to all major destinations. Everything is done to help one to relax from a busy tourist or business day. Excellent and attentive staff. Good hearty breakfasts.

Such a lovely property for a Santa Barbara visit. Clean comfy cottages, delicious breakfasts prepared by Dominique the innkeeper. The neighborhood is quiet and great for a walk. We have stayed here before, and hope to stay again
We had a wonderful stay at the Secret Garden and Dominique was kind. Breakfast was wonderful! The grounds were beautiful and it truly is like a secret garden tucked away.
This was our first time at a bed & breakfast, and we were really excited. Unfortunately it did not live up to what we anticipated. The attention to detail at the place was lacking. It's such a great property, but it could have been so much more, especially for the price! Skylights were dirty. They said there was wi-fi, but it really was only by main house. We asked other guests, and they said they had the same problem, and had told the owner. We all received the same answer, which was obviously an embellishment. The a/c unit was a window unit, which was fine, except the blinds covered it. So we had to put blinds up to get the air and that felt uncomfortable because then it felt like we were exposed. Looking out the window where the a/c unit was, there was junk stored on the side. So that was weird. The other guests were nice. And we really liked the cook. We probably won't do another b&b. But that's ok. There are plenty of other places to try.
Recommended especially if you are looking for a quaint high end boutique experience for a reasonable fair.
Beautiful gardens. Dominique, the owner is lovely. Her breakfasts are delicious and filling. We had egg bake and quiche with coffee, juice, fresh fruits, croissants and other breads including a freshly baked orange bread. You will not start your day hungry! You can choose to eat in the main house or sit outside in one of the many gardens. We stayed in the "Garden" cottage. Cozy with a vaulted ceiling, skylights and small fenced in yard, lovely garden with a table and chairs. Perfect if you are traveling with a pet.
We were greeted by staff cordially, very helpful.Our room was clean and comfortable. Hotel grounds well kept.
A break from traditional motels, this inn offers large rooms, home cooked breakfast, lovely garden hidden from the street. A French touch to everything was a pleasant surprise.
We had a great weekend staying at the Secret Garden. Our Nightingale suite was clean and lovely. All windows looked out into the gardens. It was like we were in another world, so to speak. We felt like we made a new friend. Dominique was so hospitable and accommodating.
