Kimpton Canary Hotel

I really wanted to give this hotel a good review but I honestly can't. Here are the issues I had with my stay: The mini bar wasn't cleaned up from the previous guests. The room they gave us was next to the elevator after we specifically requested a room away from the elevators when booking the room a month earlier. When calling Guest Services, they are not always available and will let the phone ring and ring-- no way to leave a message and no call-backs. Housekeeping left our room before they were done servicing it and never came back. We asked the front desk to have them return and they never did. For a 4-star hotel none of these issues should have occurred. A cleaned room, serviced minibar, simple room requests and being able to reach a hotel employee by phone are basic givens at any hotel- I don't know why I had to chase these things down. However, I will say that the valet/bellmen team were on point, as were the staff at Finch and Fork restaurant.

Great location and experience! If you're looking for a bargain, forget it. This is an upscale hotel with very nice rooms and a roof top bar that is awesome! It's a must see and do!!

Overpriced for what it offers. Staff are lovely but the facilities are run down and outdated.

Short walk to the Public Market which has a great wine bar.

The Canary Hotel was wonderful. My sister and I went to Santa Barbara for our birthday. Everyone was nice. I can't complain about anything. Loved it. Very beautiful rooftop.

Very friendly and accommodating staff. Great location. $700 per night? Not sure it is worth that

Room too small and noisey.-- also dated. Way overpriced

We had a great experience at the Canary Hotel. It's tucked away in the historic center of Santa Barbara. We walked everywhere and loved everything about the hotel and the surroundings. Wine every evening from 5:00 till 6:00 in the lovely lobby. Hot coffee every morning from 5:00 am. The restaurant is nice; nice bar area; fantastic staff who could not have been more helpful and attentive. Our room was large and very comfortable and the sheets and bed linens are perfect. It was a spectacular stay. The rooftop was so nice and all very relaxing. Next time (and we are planning to return) we'll stay longer than 2 days. Santa Barbara is beautiful, as is so much of Southern California.

Great staff, rooms, service, and atmosphere. Loved the rooftop pool/bar.

We went for our 10y anniversary and left two kids at home and this was a very romantic hotel experience. We loved the wine our downstairs each day. We loved the rooftop pool and lounging area even in the evening. And we loved the complementary bikes that we could ride down to the beach. Overall was a perfect weekend away, but a little pricey in my opinion.

Great location but the old beauty is tired and in need of an update.

My sister and I stayed in a one bedroom suite for a few days in August with my 5 month old daughter and we had a wonderful time. All of the staff from the valet to the front desk to housekeeping to the restaurant were friendly and helpful. The hotel was very accommodating with respect to the baby - they first brought a crib to our room but when we realized it would be a tight squeeze, they replaced it with a pack 'n play (no extra charge for either), and when we needed ice packs for the formula bag frozen, it was no problem. We enjoyed the pool, Finch and Fork restaurant and the complimentary wine tasting happy hour in the lobby. The location around the corner from State Street is great with everything in easy walking distance, over 3 days we never used our car. I have always liked this hotel, but since it has become a Kimpton hotel, the service has definitely gone up a notch. I highly recommend the Canary, you will not be disappointed.

The Canary had beautiful rooms, fresh and spacious! The bed was luxuriously comfortable and every staff member we met was gracious and attentive. Would definitely stay no where else in Santa Barbara!

Very Curteous and helpful staff from the front dest to the Valet. Great atmoshpere and style.

Not cheap but Great hotel. Close driving distance to beach and walking distance to shopping downtown

Really sums up my stay, the rooms were exactly that, staff very friendly and helpful. The restaurant down stairs has a great selection plus the food is very good. Highly recommend

Stayed at this hotel last minute without knowing all too much about it due to the fact they offered electric car charging - as soon as we got to the hotel it was surprise after surprise and an amazing quick vacation! Staff could not have been better, clean hotel, lots of perks (bike rentals, EV charging and reduced rate parking, next door gym access, rooftop pool and hot tub). Definitely staying here again!

The Hotel was everything we expected. A smaller hotel with a friendly flavor and atmosphere. Great location just a block off State Street and in the middle of great Santa Barbara retail stores. The staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Comfortable room with the important amenities. My wife and I would recommend this hotel to anyone that enjoys good service and a relaxing stay.

What a great Hotel. I have stated in hundreds of hotels and this one stands out big time. Highly recommend this hotel. Meaghan at the front desk is a complete pro and almost overly accommodating. Without a doubt I will be returning to the Canary!

This is one of my favorite hotels in the world. The location in downtown Santa Barbara is fantastic, but the rooftop deck makes you feel anywhere but. In the morning I love walking to Stearns Wharf and back. The staff is super friendly and helpful. It is always my first choice whenever I visit.

Thank you for the compliments on valet and Finch & Fork- so sorry about the housekeeping issues. We'll round table about it to prevent further miscommunications.

Hello! What a review! We're blushing over here! While we always think we can improve somewhere, we love knowing that you think so highly of us! Come again soon, we've added iced coffee to the morning service and are almost ready to launch our summer additions to wine hour! Thank you once again, and we'll see you soon!
