Hotel & room was very clean; amenities were great. Restaurant food was excellent, pricing is what I would expect for a tourist destination. Beach is easy walking distance, nice sandy beach, waves are good for surfing/boarding if you want. Room was clean & ready for early check in when we arrived without calling prior to arrival. Shower had good water pressure & good shower head. Only thing I did not like was the bed was firm/hard, pillows were horrible, I did not sleep well both nights and had horrible headache and backaches. This was our first trip to San Simeon, seeing all the hotels available, I think we picked a winner. I would stay here again and bring my own pillows.

Stayed over night after visiting Hearst Castle and the drive is very convenient. The staff is very friendly and will do anything to make your stay as pleasurable as possible. Room service is very quick and very good food for the location.

Favorite coastal motel. Love the chimenias near the beach. Cavalier restaurant is good.

This hotel was a surprise. Not the bad kind, the good kind! Location, location, location, right on the ocean with gentle breezes to give you a feeling of true comfort. It's also the first hotel we have ever stayed in with a real fireplace in the room and a supply of "buffalo chips" (AKA; Duraflame chunks) to burn. Couldn't get a really good fire going but to make up for that there are a couple of fireplaces outside with chairs and all to socialize with others. When we arrived our room was upstairs on the second floor but when the manager say I walked with a cane he found a first floor room and that made it much easier for me to get around. Definatly worth a visit and yes we would go back again!

It was overall a good stay. When we booked we weren't aware that there was ocean front and ocean view. The photo of the ocean view room looked as if the ocean was close. We were a bit disappointed to be away from the ocean. Also the view from our room (on the far left of the building) was partially of the ocean front building -- not quite what we had in mind. Because we stayed for three nights, we hoped to change to a room more to the middle or right on the second floor instead of ground floor. This was not possible, and they treated us for a bottle champagne to demonstrate good will. But it was nice to have a good bed, a fireplace and a patio -- even though fireplace doesn't use real wood, and it was hard to keep a fire going... We also kept having trouble with the lights, working with touch sensors. But again, it took us only a few minutes to be on the bluffs or on the beach. I enjoyed those walks and then also along Moonstone Beach. We visited Cambria and Harmony, being a bit disappointed. Galleries weren't as interesting as they were 25 years ago. I think next time, we'll stay further North and do our excursions from there, focusing on walks and hikes. I think the hotel is a bit overpriced. On the other hand, you certainly can have a good time there.

Stayed one night here on drive from LA to SF, and it was a wonderful stay. The staff was friendly and room was clean. I booked an ocean view room with balcony (they have rooms that are oceanfront, but I thoroughly enjoyed my category room, and it had a fireplace as well!) Free parking, free wifi, and a Keurig coffee maker were nice amenities. Bathroom and vanity area has good lighting. Short driving distance to Hearst Castle.

Right on the water...beautiful sunsets! And great fire pit complete with starter logs and matches all ready to go! Had a fire going in minutes. Met some wonderful people from Australia and Calif.

If you like quiet, clean and fantastic views then this is it. I had high expectations and they were all met. If you want to get picky there is no microwave or hot coco. otherwise perfect for a getaway.

Chose this hotel to spend the night after an afternoon touring Hearst Castle. Front desk staff were very helpful. Weather was blustery so we didn't get to take advantage of the evening fire pits set up each night along the bluff. Room was comfortable and spacious. Food in restaurant was good.

no hassle, great beach location. adjoining restaurant pleasant, decent food, fair prices.

Everything about this hotel was great! Only 3 miles to Hearst Castle, a lovely setting, right on the ocean, a lovely room, great hot tub and the best part is sitting by the fire pit in the evening. There is also a wonderful restaurant across the street for dinner - the Manta Rey!

The room was lovely, you could hear the ocean from inside the room. The staff were professional, helpful and personable. The pillows were even comfortable.

Beautiful hotel with Ocean view. Restaurant was good. Room service reasonable.

Perfectly reasonable, what made it stand out was the live fire which could be lit after dark and the proximity to the shoreline which was amazing!

We were very happy with this hotel. We had a beautiful, ocean-front room with a fireplace. It was very comfortable and clean. Located close to the Hearst Mansion and only a few miles from the Harbor Seals view point (something you shouldn't miss). The food at the restaurant at the hotel was delicious and reasonably priced. The staff were exceptional - making a point to greet and talk to us each time we entered the lobby. One of the maintenance men saw me lugging my heavy bag up the stairs to my room and rushed to assist me. I look forward to returning to San Simeon again and to staying at this hotel.

We loved our stay. Everyone was so friendly. The restaurant was yummy. The in room honor bar was not ridiculously overpriced. The ocean view was spectacular. Even though we did not bring our dog, we liked it that this was a dog friendly hotel. we are definitely considering another stay, this time with kids, and dog.

The Best Western Plus Cavalier Oceanfront Resort was a great find and a great value. We had a king sized room that was well kept. Another party in our group had a king / queen room that was absolutely enormous. The bathroom was clean. Amenities in the room were plentiful. The staff was nice enough to empty the minibar fridge so that I could store some milk for my little one. There three firepits outside that are lit at night. They were great to sit near on a chilly night, listening to the waves crash against the shore. We loved our stay here and would definitely recommend this to anyone!

Excellent value, great view, close to Hearst Castle

Perfect location to visit Hearst Castle - otherwise not much in the area to visit or tour - but a perfect location for relaxing and viewing the sunset - get a room with an ocean view and fireplace.

Wonderful hotel, good value, pets allowed. Wish we could have stayed longer. Reserved ocean view room and although it wasn't as close to the ocean as some other rooms we had a beautiful unobstructed view and had dinner in our room. Lots to see in San Simeon and Big Sur was gorgeous!
