Cavalier Oceanfront Resort

The motel was fairly nice, the staff friendly and helpful, the facilities somewhat recently updated, had great beach access, nice heated pool, beds were comfy, nice and readily priced mini bar. What was disappointing was that the walls were pager thin and i could hear everything the neighbors were doing in too much detail, rooms were very small, and the pillows were garbage -literally garbage.

This hotel was my favorite during our Northern CA. trip up the coast. Just a few minute drive to Hearst Castle tour. Beautiful cliff beach with stairs down to explore the shore. Staff provides firewood to the three fire pits with chairs. Onsite restaurant was really good too! Try the fresh veggie omlette!

My only complaint was that the young lady at checking was

This is a wonderful hotel. While the buildings are older, it is very up to date. The location can't be beat if you are going to Hearst Castle. The rooms facing the ocean are breathtaking. The fire pits, yard games (checkers, bean bag toss, etc.), and direct access to the beach make for a relaxing and fun stay. The pools and hot tub are nice as well (yes, the pools are heated!).

friendly staff, great views of the ocean, plenty of room to relax

Ants in my room and when I told the front desk they said Oh yeah we know.

Great location on ocean. Clean and quiet. Pool closes early was disappointing would have loved to sit in hot tub and listen to waves.

We LOVED it. Will definitely return if ever have the opportunity. Hotel was wonderful. Visit Cambria...such a quaint little town with lots of fun shops and restaurants to try. Pacific Coast Hwy was beautiful!

We came here for part of our Honeymoon traveling the PCH. The hotel was decent. No fancy amenities. The hotel restaurant had good food and was packed with people.

Great views, good value compared to other properties considering room, ease of parking and surroundings.

Great front desk staff!! Nice grounds next to beach. Evening program lecture on life of whales was excellent.

Definitely stay in the oceanfront rooms. The view is amazing and we loved the wood burning fireplace and volleyball court.

Hotel & room was very clean; amenities were great. Restaurant food was excellent, pricing is what I would expect for a tourist destination. Beach is easy walking distance, nice sandy beach, waves are good for surfing/boarding if you want. Room was clean & ready for early check in when we arrived without calling prior to arrival. Shower had good water pressure & good shower head. Only thing I did not like was the bed was firm/hard, pillows were horrible, I did not sleep well both nights and had horrible headache and backaches. This was our first trip to San Simeon, seeing all the hotels available, I think we picked a winner. I would stay here again and bring my own pillows.

Stayed over night after visiting Hearst Castle and the drive is very convenient. The staff is very friendly and will do anything to make your stay as pleasurable as possible. Room service is very quick and very good food for the location.

Favorite coastal motel. Love the chimenias near the beach. Cavalier restaurant is good.

This hotel was a surprise. Not the bad kind, the good kind! Location, location, location, right on the ocean with gentle breezes to give you a feeling of true comfort. It's also the first hotel we have ever stayed in with a real fireplace in the room and a supply of "buffalo chips" (AKA; Duraflame chunks) to burn. Couldn't get a really good fire going but to make up for that there are a couple of fireplaces outside with chairs and all to socialize with others. When we arrived our room was upstairs on the second floor but when the manager say I walked with a cane he found a first floor room and that made it much easier for me to get around. Definatly worth a visit and yes we would go back again!

It was overall a good stay. When we booked we weren't aware that there was ocean front and ocean view. The photo of the ocean view room looked as if the ocean was close. We were a bit disappointed to be away from the ocean. Also the view from our room (on the far left of the building) was partially of the ocean front building -- not quite what we had in mind. Because we stayed for three nights, we hoped to change to a room more to the middle or right on the second floor instead of ground floor. This was not possible, and they treated us for a bottle champagne to demonstrate good will. But it was nice to have a good bed, a fireplace and a patio -- even though fireplace doesn't use real wood, and it was hard to keep a fire going... We also kept having trouble with the lights, working with touch sensors. But again, it took us only a few minutes to be on the bluffs or on the beach. I enjoyed those walks and then also along Moonstone Beach. We visited Cambria and Harmony, being a bit disappointed. Galleries weren't as interesting as they were 25 years ago. I think next time, we'll stay further North and do our excursions from there, focusing on walks and hikes. I think the hotel is a bit overpriced. On the other hand, you certainly can have a good time there.
