I generally always stay at Marriott properties when I travel simply because Marriott properties are dependable, clean, updated, and offer great service. In this case, I was traveling to the Pismo Beach area but wanted to avoid the high prices associated with being close to the ocean. Traveling to the recreational areas was easy since the hotel is located off the Highway 101. The hotel was nice, as expected, but my room was very small. The king size bed practically took up the whole room. I expected more. I am also a reward member which gave me free internet but still, I was disappointed with the size of the room. Seems as though the front desk should have given me the option to move to a larger room. Overall, I would say that this Marriott was fair in comparison to other hotels.
This was one of the nicer Fairfield Inns I have stayed at. At check-in, I was acknowledged as a Marriott Rewards member and received an upgrade to a room with 2 queen beds. The lobby looked like it had been recently renovated and the hallway carpeting looked new. The complimentary breakfast buffet was good. The front desk staff did supply me with a long list of dining options however some of the areas where the restaurants were located looked a bit "sketchy" so we ended up bringing back a pizza.
Great front desk staff they make you feel like family. Very pretty hotel with spacious rooms and very clean and quiet. Easy to find right off Rt. 101. The breakfast was ok same thing everyday. Very pretty view of the mountains from my room.
We reserved a suite at the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Santa Maria for 3 adults for 3 nights in June, 2017. When we checked in the front desk lady gave us the smallest room in the hotel just across from the elevator on the 4th floor. The room offered no privacy whatsoever. Before unpacking, we went back to the receptionist and requested another room. This was the middle of the week so there were lots of other rooms available. This time she gave us what had to have been one of the better rooms in the entire complex with a lockable bedroom door...totally private. I still cannot understand why that front desk lady gave us (reward members) such a crummy room when there were so many better rooms available knowing we were staying for multiple days. We have stayed at several Fairfield Inns before and enjoyed our stays. Other staff members were quite courteous and the breakfast was very good. Next time I’m in the area, I will try another accommodation.
We stopped here heading to San Diego from Monterey. It was a really nice hotel! We were on the ground floor and heard nothing from above. Kids enjoyed the pool area! The room was super cute! We had a family of 5 and thought the pullout would have been a queen (baby slept with us)...It was a twin. Luckily we had a sleeping bag with us and we made an extra bed with the cushions. Worked perfectly! Breakfast was good! A big area too so plenty of seating. The employees are super sweet too! We will stay here again if need be! P.s.....love that there was coffee, tea, and hot cocoa 24/7....
Pretty standard Fairfield Inn. Rooms are large and clean, friendly staff and easy parking. Some areas under renovations. Downside is one side of the hotel faces a busy road. Road noise is rather loud with trucks and cars going by all night. Ask for room facing the parking area instead.
Stayed at the Fairfield Inn in Santa Maria for business. I had considered more touristy places nearby like San Luis Obispo. The place was clean, affordable, convenient and offers free breakfast and parking!
Perfect for my need. Respite on wearying trip begun too late in day. Very clean & comfortable. Slept well. TV easy to operate. Desk clerk helpful to get on free wifi & very professional, yet warm. Breakfast quite sufficient. Complimentary water & chocolate bar a treat. A large pic on TV wall would reduce institutional look.
This hotel is just beginning a remodel/refresh and they were in the process of stripping wallpaper from the public areas the day we stayed. The people at reception were exceedingly friendly and welcoming. Our room was small (as Fairfield rooms can be) but there was space to squeeze in an easy chair in addition to the desk chair and that was appreciated. Due to space there was no microwave in our room but it did have a small refrigerator. Can open window for fresh air. A renovation of public areas /room refresh has just started that will include 42” TVs (right now they are 32”), new carpeting and a redo of their breakfast area. King room is small as most. Breakfast was typical Fairfield and nice. They had some hot oatmeal that was the perfect consistency along with lots of stir-ins, scrambled eggs or some little cheese omelets, bacon and veggie patties (the veggie patties were surprisingly good). They had several yogurt choices, to include greek yogurt but only one type of juice - orange. The coffee was fine. I was saddened to learn that they must throw out the end pieces (heals) of their lovely wheat bread. That is my favorite part (toasted with butter). I can understand the brand standard is to not set them out but I wish they kept them available for guests who might prefer them. Such a waste to throw them away before breakfast ends!! I learned all this when I asked if they might have a heal saved in the kitchen. I was successful with this request at a recent Fairfield Inn I stayed at in Canada but no such luck here.
I'm a loyal Marriott customer, so stayed here for a business trip. Staff is VERY friendly and helpful. Currently upgrades are in process (new carpeting, wallpaper, public areas) and everything looks super clean, but the Fairfield is the basic level of Marriott and not a lot of frills. A couple of prints on the walls could warm up the sterility of the rooms a bit. Breakfast (complimentary) is very basic, although kudos for having eggs and breakfast meats. This is my second time here (last time before the remodeling), and the driveway entrance is super weird.... drive past the building to the next street into another little street. Overall... ok.
