The ubication is great, it's surrounded by beautiful trees, but that's about it. The rooms are ordinary, and in need for maintenance. Overall, too expensive for what it is, I wouldn't recommend it at all.
We were here only one night. The wifi was horrible and in the chalets you can hear every sneeze, phone call and conversation from your neighbours. Noises from above as well. Cable tv offers maybe 15 channels but the channel guide offers almost 100. Old, but clean. The fabric-dressed chairs remind me of a quinciañera reception. This place needs an overhaul pronto.
The climate with the clouds and nature makes this a special place. The food is just superb! Swiss/French cuisine with great service in a wood cozy restaurant. The only negative is if there is a wedding or event the place feels more crowded But the wood cabins are just so nice for a relax night out of town!
What a great surprise!! When I arrived at this property, it was dark, really dark. I checked in to the very cool "Germany" styled lobby and off to my room. The next morning I wanted to speak German and not Spanish. The free breakfast was excellent. The service was excellent. Just that the rooms are dated, but very clean!!!
I really loved it! The sensation of small town was amazing. Their chalets very comfortable. The fresh air and wind in the middle of the big trees was wonderful. and the food! the food was the best, I had my own crepe prepared in front of my table.
Wanted a place to stay and relax after the long flight and before embarking on the rest of our trip. Couldn't of made a better choice. Away from the hustle and bustle of San Jose was our delightful wooden chalet, in peaceful wooded countryside. Friendly, helpful staff with a plentiful and tasty breakfast, served within the hotels own restaurant and bar. Regret we couldn't stay longer to explore the countryside.
We drove up to this quaint hideaway on a Sunday & were pleasantly surprised how nice it was, sunny and cooler at 6000'. We just went for the day & had lunch there which was good & prices are a little high. The staff were all quite pleasant & smiling. It's not a huge area but big enough for a leisurely walk & to breathe fresh clean air. The chalets are like a 2 story hotel room w/each being separate rentals. They are very close together & parking is no problem. We also took the road that goes up to the volcano & would not do that again. The roads were paved but very, very narrow. We didn't go all the way up to the volcano because we were not comfortable w/the road. I don't think the park there is open anyway.
This place is very quaint, quiet, and beautiful. It's small and rather isolated, but that is good. It hosts weddings and other private events. The grounds are beautiful, staff is very accommodating and bi-lingual, the restaurant is very good, everything was great. We went for a wedding and stayed a week. They helped set up tours and provided box breakfasts when we had early departures. We highly recommend this hotel.
We stayed there on our first night in Costa Rica upon arrival . We drove there from the airport. It appeared it is located in Avery nice neighborhood. The front desk , breakfast crew and every one were great . The Room is nice and comfortable , clean, beautiful grounds and well worth the money.
We were pleasantly surprised to find such a elegant place in the woods. It felt like being in a small town in old European city. The Hydrangeas were in full bloom everywhere along with so many beautiful flowers. The restaurant served excellent food also. The room had fireplace even though it wasn't cold enough to use. We would go back next time when we visit Costa Rica.
