I only booked this hotel because I was running out of options and the city was filling up with tourists and spring breakers. My biggest mistake was not realizing that every room is a smoking room. There were burn marks in the nasty carpet and blanket on the bed. Walls are VERY thin and the floors creak. Breakfast was a joke...door was locked to get to it. We couldn't understand the man at check-in who was talking to us thru the 1-inch dirty plexi-glass window. The day we checked out there were loiterers yelling and pushing each other in the parking lot. I tried to cancel this but the online site would not refund me because of the rules of the cancellation policy.

2 stars because on the outside, you wouldn't think it's that terrible. Check in was pleasant. Walk in to room: the room reeked of cigarette smoke, the bathroom light was flickering like a strobe light but not as badly, the bed blanket had cigarette burn holes, and the bed sheet had hairs on it and just felt unclean. I made the mistake of not reading reviews prior to booking and just went with the cheapest around because of spring break prices. Oops! Not even 2 hours later we looked for another hotel and did an early check out. The desk person didn't even seem to care we were checking out early. Surprised.. but careless. It's a last-resort hotel. Good luck!

Horrible experience, from the get go but we had no choice, we had been driving around and everything was full, it was after midnight, first thing we noticed was people outside rooms drinking and having a good time,. At the check in window there was a sign saying that no guests were allowed outside rooms after 10pm, I asked the woman doing the check in to please put us away from the noise, this was her answer: "I only have a room next to them but you know, they are nice people on vacation!" I told her we were nice people too, on vacation as well, looking to sleep the night. She said she was going to call them. I don't know if she did but they continued to be outside. To top it all off the place is a dump, disgusting carpet, dirty doors/floors/stained towels, bottles, cans and cigarrette butts found outside the room next to ours when we left, i am enclosing pictures , the worse is the pic of the floor between the bathtub and the sink side wall, disgusting! Lousy beds, we were so disgusted that we slept with our clothes on and we covered the pillow and part of the bedding with our beach towels. This place should be demolished! It is totally overpriced, we paid $122 for one night! this really hurts when we stayed for the rest of our vacation in a beautiful historic hotel where presidents and celebrities had stayed, less than one block from The Alamo in a luxurious suite with two bedrooms, impeccable , we felt like royalty, the name is The Menger Hotel San Antonio for only 153.39!!! including taxes and Valet parking!!!

Went down to San Antonio for a weekend getaway, did I pick a bad weekend (August 1st), they had a convention there. Every hotel I called near the Riverwalk was booked. Every location was overcharging for the weekend. I called in to my Choice Privileges Rewards Program and this is the location they referred me to. I am a elite platinum member and normally stay in Comfort Inn or Comfort Suites. This was my first time ever staying in a Rodeway Inn location and let me tell you I was very disappointed. I was charged a rate of $99 a night, now I stay in Comfort Inn on a weekly basis for work in a nice community, for that same rate. The hotel and that area were not worth that price. Now if I were charged the $59 I would have bumped it up one star. The staff was nice but the rooms were very outdated. They are still providing tube television to watch. It only had one bar of soap (lucky I carry my own) for two guest. The clock didn't have a cd player or auxiliary attachment. The bed was fair, the sheets were clean, and the room was clean. The air conditioning worked fine. It looked like they may have had a iron and ironing board that were removed from the room. This was a last resort deal for me and I will not be returning to this location for that price. They did offer Wi-Fi and some type of breakfast they I did not use.

This place was horrible. The pictures are not close to what this hotel is. The bed was a king size box spring with a smaller mattress. Everything was extremely out dated on the inside. Oh the outside was fine, inside dirty, smelly and a dump. Never stay here again. Continental Breakfast? If you want to call stale several day old mini-muffins, bagels and froot loops a continental breakfast not ok. Let me repeat myself. A DUMP

We are staying at this hotel RIGHT NOW, Saturday 3/8/14. We stayed Fri night using my Choice rewards points and decided to stay over again. BAD MISTAKE. My husband went down to pay and they wanted to charge him $99.00!! The rates for this place are $59. When my husband came back to the room and told me, I mentioned that the rate should be much less but whoever was running the desk said that $99 was the weekend rate but he would give it to us for $89. Its a rip-off, do not stay here. The motel/hotel is ok, but not for $99, and really not even for $59. The room was ok for one night to just sleep since we drove 7hours to SA for our sons graduation, but I didnt want to stay again. The beds are fine, but tiny, the room is dirty (pecan shells of all things between the bed and nightstand and dirt smears on the bathroom door and dirt caked in the baseboards) the sink is cracked, the TV is an old 19in tube TV. The hot water works great and the wi-fi is fast, but I did not want to stay again because for $100 I can find a room with a decent TV. This hotel is right next to a bar and another HOtel so its very loud and lots of people milling about. If you do stay here be very very sure to check the rates, book ONLY ONLINE and MAKE SURE you don't get over charged. I checked their rates through the Choice website when my husband told me about his encounter and this room on the weekend should have been $59 plus tax. They took advantage of us because we are from out of town. My husband was tired and just didn't want to deal with this places' bull. We just wanted to spend a nice weekend with our son whom we haven't seen in 4 months!

So I started off with my thursday here at this hotel. It looked really run down, and old bathrooms are a lil small, and we had our bedroom with two beds , so on out sheets were stained and some had burns,N the floor is old and sqeeky and dirty needs replacement , no bugs thank god. Lol, well over all I was here for about aweek in this hotel room service was nice she cleaned out room basicly took care of what we needed, and over all you get what you pay for it was worth it but the distsnce from downtown was far for us. We still made our weekend worth the wild life.

When I first checked in I smelled a heavy stench of old smoke, the Carpets and all the furniture were stain ridden. I didn't dare to take off my shoes. As I retired for the NIght I kept waking up with sting like itches all over my body. I turned on the lights numerous times during the Night, but could not find anything. As I woke up the next morning, I rolled over and I saw a bed bug crawling on my Pillow. I immediately jumped up (already covered in at least 50 bites) and ran downstairs to inform the Hotel Manager. I explained to him what was going on, but since this Indian speaking man apparewntly really didn't understand what I was saying I got no reply from him not even a "sorry" he just gave me a key to another Room. I moved into the new Room just to find dead cockroaches on the carpet and the sheets were filthy. As the day passed I was very cautios and kept checking the bed. I couldn't find anything, but as soon as Night fell here we go!! And this time it must have been 12-15 bed bugs!!!! I could not stay in that room and slept in my Car that Night!!!!! Needles to say, avoid this nasty, filthy bed bug and cockroach ridden hotel at all cost!!!!! And oh yes, I don't know what they consider "Continental Breakfast" a honeybun and a coffee?????

I've stayed in many hotels and motels over the years, and this is in the bottom two. I stayed here for four nights while visiting my husband who is stationed at Fort Sam. Pros: the woman who checked me in was initially very friendly, and the bed was comfortable. Unfortunately, that's about it. The room was noisy (it's off of a main road), it's not in a very good part of town, the fridge REEKED of something and desperately needed to be cleaned, the sheets were not washed and had stains on them, the maids ignored the "Do Not Disturb" sign I put on the door handle, and the bathroom was horrible. It was small, dirty, and the water went through the fabric shower curtain...so much so that it leaked into the room below us, and the woman from the front desk came up and complained to us. WHAT?!?!? Are you kidding me? She tried to barge in to clean it up (there was water on the floor, but that's because the water goes through the shower curtain! She accused me of not knowing how to close a shower curtain...and suggested that I didn't have it inside of the tub.), but my husband was in the shower. It was incredibly awkward. Lastly, unless all you eat/drink for breakfast is coffee, there's nothing for you at the continental breakfast. At all. Seriously, splurge a little bit more and stayed near the Riverwalk area. It's worth EVERY penny. Do some price comparison, and you'll find that for around one hundred more you can stay at a much nicer hotel. Stay away from this place!!

Where should I start?! When I walked into my NON SMOKING room the first thing I noticed was the heavy stench of old tobacco. The first thing I saw; multiple cigarette burns on the floral comforter. Not only did the comforter have obvious cigarette burns, the sheets had NOT been changed! The pillow coverings still had old mascara marks, tears, and pink lipstick marks on the sheets and pillows. The bathroom looked like a scene from a horror flick. The fixtures did not work properly. The door frame in the bathroom was splintered and the tile chipped. Luckily the towels were clean. There was an amazing selection of TV channels, too bad most did not work. The carpet was so dirty the bottoms of my feet turned dark brown. The hotel advertises "Free Internet"..HA! There wasn't a real internet connection until I went to the hotel next door. The complimentary continental breakfast was stale and made me sick the first morning. Trying to get some type of hospitality from the managers is like pulling teeth. It took 4 hours to have my sheets changed and bathtub cleaned. Rodeway Inn is an over priced dump not worth the effort! I do NOT recommend this hotel, even if you're desperate.
