Excellent location with great walkability! Quiet and safe. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Would recommend!
Good location, short access to train & bus stations. Short walk to park & gardens. Good variety of eating locations nearby. They are finishing up their renovation, so was a tad less splashy , but that's to be expected. Good modern & clean rooms, well equipped. 15 min walk to olde town.
Nice clean hotel nice staff good food good area a little pricey but otherwise a pretty nice place
We were attending the dinner Mozart concert at the oldest restaurant in Europe – 803 AD - St Peters Skiftskeller in old town. So we decided to stay overnight before returning to Munich. We could not find a hotel in old town with our room requirements But that turned out to be great. Instead we stayed at the Sheraton which is a lovely hotel with outstanding accommodations. The tasteful lobby, lounge, and dining look over a charming garden. The room was meticulously maintained, comfortable and contained a well stocked snack bar. The bathroom was modern and top grade with many amenities. Our room overlooked the garden. Others have said it was a short walk to old town but we decided to take taxis which were easily available and it is evident that the taxi drivers are very experienced with maneuvering through the traffic and the pedestrian only old town area. It was easy and quick to get taxi service either way from the restaurant to the hotel. The Mozart concert and dinner we're more than we could have hoped for. We had a wonderful time. The hotel was outstanding along with the morning breakfast in the hotel restaurant. When We return to Salzburg, we will stay in the grand Sheraton again. We strongly recommend this hotel.
Front desk personnel was courteous. The room was comfortable and with nice decor, and updated bathroom. Major disappointment was related to the TV, which was fixed at just 2 channels in German, problem that was not fixed. Other disappointment was the lack of points received for this booking.
Check-in was easy and friendly front desk staff. Close to all the sights. Room was clean and comfortable.
We would recommend this hotel to other travelers. It is within walking distance from the train station and the old town. We arrived in the middle of the night but reception made us feel really welcome, offered us refreshments and use of the business center. When we came back from breakfast, we were able to check in early. The room was quite large so were quite happy with our accommodations. They also have a great steam room. Even when we wanted to use it during after hours, they were able to do that for us. The staff was very helpful and friendly and definitely very accomodating.
Anytime I am in the Salzburg, Berchtesgaden, and Bad Reichenhal area, I stay here. One, I love the old feel of Salzburg and two, this hotel has always provided the best service. I have stayed in quite a few rooms and every time they were spotless clean with a little treat on the pillow. The service at the desk, piano bar, and the 7th floor club lounge were always polite and courteous. The hotel is pricey but with the prices comes excellent service, fine dining and a very relaxing stay.
Good service and convenient location. We enjoyed staying there.
The hotel was lovely. Haven't been to any nicer fitness facilities at a hotel anywhere. The room was comfortable, pretty and clean. The staff lovely. That said, the bathroom, though nice, was a bit dangerous. Slick tile everywhere and a big step out of and into the tub. Hold onto the rails if you are shorter than average and until you get used to the height. Very convenient to town and attractions.
The Sheraton Salzburg is a wonderful hotel. It is located on the edge of the Mirabell Garden. Old town was just a quick (and easy) 5-10 minute walk from the hotel. The hotel helped us with reservations to the Mozart Dinner Concert, The Panoramic Eagle's Nest and Sound of Music tours. The Mirabell Restaurant located in the hotel serves wonderful Austrian meals and wine. The front desk upgraded our room because of our Starwood Gold status. The room was very large and comfortable.
it was a pleasant enough and comfortable stay at a good rate. however, i didn't understand the other reviewers' high ratings (from other review sources) at all. while, not unfriendly, nor unhelpful, the service was not exceptional or friendly by any means. the room was spacious and comfortable but as with the rest of the hotel, felt bland, and again nothing special. no regrets for a night in Salzburg but if you're looking for something a bit more special, this hotel is not it.
great...took sound of music tour
Great location, adjacent to the Mirabel Gardens. Beautiful location and just a walk across a foot bridge to the old part of town. Very helpful staff with good eating recommendations.
We had a large room with a wonderful view of the Fortress in the distance and also a view of the Mirabella Park. Since we booked a nicer room, we had free access to the private lounge on the 7th floor. What a wonderful perk!!! The food was so delicious and varied that we ate there breakfast, lunch and dinner most of the times, and snacks in between! Free wine and spirits too. What a great way to save money! Also, the staff was helpful and sold us a Salzburg card which saved us money in town on the attractions. Mozart's birthplace was a moderate walk downtown. Everything was in walking distance from this hotel!! We couldn't find an English newspaper so we had to look online for news. That was the only drawback I could possibly comment on!
Spendy, but spotless rooms tastefully decorated, and in the best location in Salzburg (for us anyway, balancing accessibility by car and parking with walking distance to main attractions).
We decided to splurge and spend an extra 20 euros a night for an upgraded room facing the gardens. The room was really nice - everything was clean and modern. It was probably the nicest room we stayed in during our 3-week visit to Austria and Germany. The hotel was conveniently located just a short walk to the old town. Other than the really expensive restaurant prices and the long check-out line, everything was perfect about this hotel. We liked our room enough that I'll still give it 5 stars.
Excellent location if you do not mind 10-15 minute walks (train station, museums, etc). Good, clean, simple-fare cafes are within 200 m.
