Holiday Inn Express Rotterdam - Central Station3.0 out of 5.0

We based ourselves in Rotterdam and took the metro to the Delft and the Hague one day and Kinderdijk windmills another day. Don’t try to figure out the OV chipcard system. What it says online and at the service counter isn’t right. Nobody seems to be able to figure it out. It’s a disgrace. One person had $30 left on her card and couldn’t get a refund, another was told by the service counter to buy a 3-day pass which covered the waterbus, but on board the waterbus was told the card didn’t cover it. We were told we could use our card anywhere hop on and off, but when we did, we were faced with a 50 euro fine for being on the wrong mode of transportation. I simply refused to pay. As I said, just go for the simple and get a single ticket or day pass. On leaving, our train to Amsterdam, was listed on the platform board, but it didn’t show. Information counter said we’d leave from Platform 7, Service Center confirmation said 8 and the platform board said 9. Go figure. Personally I prefer Rotterdam to Amsterdam. I wish I had booked to only visit Amsterdam from Rotterdam. Instead I’m already booked 2 weeks in Amsterdam wishing I was back at the Holiday Inn Express.
It was a good value for dollar/euro. Near central rail station. Breakfast included. The rooms were comfortable and it was extremely quiet. Once in my room, I was unaware of any other guest.
it's ok the hotel, but it's a little expensive, because you don't have a GYM , swimming pool, etc . There is another hotel close to the train station and you can have a GYM, SWIMMING pool for only U$60, but the attention in Holliday inn it's ok, but very expensive if you want to rent a bike . 18 euros per 2 hours it's too much! . thanks
Friendly, helpful staff. My first room the door wouldn't shut from the outside. The second room it was OK. Good central location near the train station, room was small, clean, air conditioned without a fridge. No soap, just "shower gel/shampoo" which was empty. Nice breakfast.
Spotlessly clean, modern room is on par with or even better than many 4-star hotels I've stayed at.
The staff was very helpful with information on sightseeing etc. The only drawback was that they gave us wrong information on which trolly to take to the port.
