My daughter and I loved this hotel! It was a wonderful location, close to the Spanish Steps and Borghese gardens and not really very far from anything. We walked all over Rome from this hotel. The hotel was very pretty and clean, and the staff were all very nice and spoke good English. I would definitely go back!
We arrived in Rome and loved that this hotel was tucked away but still walkable to everywhere. We were given two twin beds and were told they could push the two beds together- which wasn't a good start. Hotel decor is lovely. The second day we went to the rooftop for dinner but weren't informed we needed reservations. We got seated at a tabletop and had bar menu options. We settled for that but then were served three cold plates that were obviously supposed to be hot plates. For the price, I expected more. The next day we found out that our hotel was going to lose power from 1130pm-630am. We found out via a letter that we randomly came across that was left in our room on top of a binder. No "important info" or anything like that to call our attention. This wasn't mentioned at check in. I found this to be extremely unprofessional and inappropriate. We were leaving the next morning at 7am and had spent the whole day touring Rome. We got back late to find this letter and found ourselves rushing to pack our bags before the lights went out. Also, didn't have time to shower since were packing. We also couldn't store leftover food since the fridge would be out and were told by staff that we wouldn't have breakfast because we were leaving so early in the morning. The air conditioning was also out which made it very uncomfortable. It had been very hot and humid. Opening the windows just made it very noisy and filled the room w smells of cigarette smoke and machine fumes. We were very unhappy with this and the only answer we got from staff was that it was city organized electric work. Someone should've informed us at checkin and given us the option to stay at their other Sofitel location in Rome or chose another location. Paying for 5-star service and receiving this kind of treatment is unacceptable. Me and my boyfriend travel frequently and have never received such treatment at a "5-star" place. I am glad to say that the manager has listened to our grievances and is trying to help us. However, I am still unsatisfied with the stay and how the staff handled the whole situation.
Good place and value, premier and central situated
My wife and I liked this hotel, located in a posh area in Rome. There are many great restaurants, shopping areas and attractions within a walking distance. But I must add that it is not a short walk, and the hotel is on a hill. The room was comfortable, and bath room is what you expect out of Sofitel. The bed was not firm at all though. We had only 1 breakfast during the stay, and I can't say it was worth the money that we paid for the buffet. You can get very good food all over Rome.
We stayed 1 night and our room cost $450 per night. We were put on a floor that was going through renovation. The walls were being painted and had spackle all over them. The floor smelled like chemicals from the paint which was a horrible first impression. Once in the room the room itself was due for a serious make over and renovation. The curtains were stained, the tub porcelain finished was cracked, there were visible chip marks and stains on the walls, the carpet had holes in it which was right in the middle of the room. For a brand that is suppose to have a superior reputation this stay was such a disappointment.
This hotel is first rate. The location on a quiet street right next to the Villa Borghese Gardens provided the best hotel experience I have had in Rome. Plush robes and slippers in a clean, well-appointed room were wonderful amenities to look forward to after a day of walking the city.
Hotel staff was exceptional and sincere in their efforts to make our stay enjoyable. We were robbed on the Metro the second day of the trip and the hotel offered to lend us 100 euro until we could arrange for our own funds. We did not take them up on it but it was very nice of them to offer. If riding the Metro or walking in crowds, leave your wallet and a different credit card in the hotel room safe. Take only the cash you may need and a credit card. Be sure to tuck into secure areas (i.e. sock, shoe, tight front pocket, etc.). Avoid crowded train cars and be mindful of tipping off thieves as to the location of your valuables. Most of us tourests tend to repeatedly touch the pocket in which our wallet is located. Ceartainly a pricey hotel choice, but you really do get what you pay for. Roof top terrace has great views and wonderful atmosphere.
Great, clean hotel in the heart of Rome
Ignore the complaints about the shower. It really is a minimal issue. The staff is as friendly and helpful as possible. The hotel is quiet and satisfactory in all ways. The 116 bus runs down the via veneto, through the center of rome and to the vatican, making travel to many of the major tourist attractions very accessable
Wonderful staff, beautiful room, supremely comfortable bed and a great location. I would return there anytime I am in Rome.
Great location just a short walk to the Spanish Steps. Hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. Room and bed were very comfortable. The only complaint I would have is the breakfast wasnt that great. Overall though, I would stay here again.
We loved staying in this hotel. Clean...very clean...safe.... The room was comfortable. the business center was convenient to use. I would most certainly stay here again. Great location short walk to Spanish Steps and subway.
