We stay at the above property for our holiday, the property is worth for the price, rooms are small if you looking for a double/ twin room, however the triple rooms are larger in size, specially 301, 401. Breakfast becomes a problem if there is a large group staying in house as they try to grab whatever is available and service becomes a issue. We stayed for 3 nights and had a wonderful breakfast on one day as there were no groups, other 2 days was a issue as it was crowded with groups. Hotel is just 20 minutes leisure walk from the Vatican and you have all the eatery as well as super market within walking distances. Overall a good place to stay if you are looking at a budgeted property.
I was very apprehensive about going to this hotel from the reviews I read but was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. The reception area is lovely and the staff were always very helpful throughout our stay they ordered taxis for us on three occasions and they were there in. 4mins each time. I can see why some people have pulled this hotel down in there reviews but it doesn't deserve some of the reviews. The bedroom and hallways did look a bit tired and the silicone round the bottom of the shower could do with redoing but the sheets and towels were pristine and there was always hot water and and the room was cleaned every day and clean towels put out even slippers were provided. So overall it's a good hotel but tired looking in places but for the price well worth the price. Breakfast was included and there was plenty of variety mostly continental but they did do scrambled egg an toast too and everything was clean . They had a restaurant in evening and you had to book it was so popular with the guests and local people . I have been in better but paid a lot more for the privilege so you get what you pay for but I would go there again . It is not far on the metro to the centre of Rome under ten mins and the metro is a short walk from the hotel but taxis are cheap too. Don't be put off its clean a bit tired in places but nice staff good food what else do you need you are basically only there to eat and sleep and then your out sightseeing. The walls of the Vatican City is three streets from the hotel to give you some idea where the hotel is.
Hotel is clean, good welcome on arriving, even after the 4th day still a warm welcome. Breakfast comes in your price of your stay & good quality of different foods on offer, which sets you up for your day. Rooms are aging & need money been spent on, but are adequate for your stay.Rooms are small but no big deal. One thing that I was not happy with, was the shower, it as either too cold or boiling hot, no in-between, the mixer was not working.we told the receptionist who put in for repair next day. We had a long day in the Vatican, so back to the room, shower then out to a restaurant, but was told shower ok..... No it wasn't, same as before. Went down to complain, all we could was to shower in a different room, we were told it will be fixed next day. Next day came, we were all hot & still shower did not work, that was it, I demanded a room change, don't think they were happy but got a room change. Happy days after that. It shouldn't have got that far. It states a 4* Hotel but would take it down to a 3* Hotel You also pay 6 Euro City tax for each person for which is why I think the city upgrade to a 4* Hotel, as 3* Hotel pays a lower price
Not a four star hotel but the location is good to the Vatican a 10 minute walk The rooms were very basic . we went bed and breakfast which was very basic just bread , ham , cheese and a funny sausage and scrambled egg The waiter at night was amazing his name was mauritizo a fantastic employee worth going back to visit him
An Ok hotel that I'd stay in again if the price was right. Not too much in the way of luxury but clean and close to the Vatican and a Metro station. Approx 8 minutes walk away from the Vatican and 5 mins away from Cipro metro station. That metro will get you into the city for €1.50 euros each, bargain really. Some nice restaurants nearby and as Rome is quite small you can walk to the Trevi fountain in about 45-60 mins. Breakfast is fine, usual pastries, cereals, ham/cheese, buns etc. Coffee/juice machine.
After reading reviews a few days before coming I was dreading staying in this hotel. However I was pleasantly surprised. The reception area was very presentable and clean. Reception staff were all friendly and very helpful. Especially Andrea I think her name was. From the moment we arrived for our 3 night stay she was brilliant. We had piping hot water the whole time and the shower pressure was good. Room was cleaned every day with fresh towels, and had spare pillows and throws in wardrobe. Room was also quiet. Yes the carpets are dated but really?? People love to complain. You get what you pay for. We had no mould. Only complaints I can really make are that the shower curtain could do with being replaced or have a glass door and that breakfast wasn't amazing. If you like pastries and chocolate doughnuts you will be fine. For the price I paid I can't seriously complain. Hotel location was excellent, very close to the Vatican (3 streets away ish) also the Spanish Steps were a short walk (beautiful at night.) There were lots of shops, restaurants, bars etc close by. We walked the full time. The bar in the hotel was closed but if you are going to come to a beautiful city like Rome then do you really just want to sit in your hotel? We certainly didn't and were happy to explore different bars in the area. As previous people have stated that you couldn't get a drink after 8pm, there are vending machines throughout the hotel and also there are little supermarkets within 5 minutes walking so we bought bottled water and put it in the well functioning fridge in the room. Overall we had no issues on our stay.
2 star that thinks its's a 4 star, terrible hard bed I could have done ironing on. Noisy road. The waiter forgot our vegetables with our dinner on our first night and refused to adjust the bill saying it was a set one and blamed the mistake on the chef not reminding him and 50 more people appearing in the restaurant. I could have knocked nails in with the bread rolls served at breakfast and the Maitre 'd went off alarming when I pointed them out to him saying they had been baked at 5 am that morning, more like the previous morning..Room was tiny, furnishings dated, old shower curtain which wanted to wrap around you and had seen better days, yuk. At least the water was hot and plenty of it. Yes the bar was shut and it was impossible to get a drink of anything after 8pm, even a coffee. We had to stay out just to keep dehydrated. The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful but otherwise. STEER CLEAR!
Sometimes reviewers can be very cruel when making comparisons. Having just read some recent reviews of this property I feel I was in a different hotel. We stayed there in early September and the only complaint I had was that the carpet in the building was getting tired and needed changing. The service was excellent in all departments, ( fresh towels and beds changed every day ). Staff were mostly very pleasant and helpful. My stay was for a full week and was very good value for money.
We have just visited this hotel with friends. It was less than worthy of the 4*, rating that it had been given. The whole hotel was dirty, the bed sheets were clean, but that was about it! The bathroom and showers were filthy, the carpet looked liked it had not seen a vacuum in years, it also had bleach stains on it. The bedroom walls were dirty as was the curtains, which had come adrift from the rails and was just hanging. I really can't explain how bad this lace was! The bathroom was disgusting, the tile grouting was black. The breakfast was poor, plenty of bread but not much else, certainly not what I expect from a 4* hotel. The tea and coffee came from a machine. There was only a very small basket of fruit to choose from. The staff in the restaurant were rude and impolite. Shame on whoever made this 4*, it should be 2 at best!!
If you are planning a travel to Rome AVOID the hotel Nova Domus. We have just arrived from a TERRIBLE and AWFUL experience of three days in this disastrous hotel. Three days without hot water and with not shower working properly. There was not an adequate maintenancein the room. The air conditionated control did not work and the room was cool. The solution proposed from the hotel management for the last day was to stay in our room for four people, we were traveling with our grand sons, and use the shower of another room. The hotel reception and management courtesy was almost absent, as well as for the breakfast buffet service. Similar judgment can be extended to the travel agency TUI, althouh originally we reserved the trip from Corte Inglés travel agency, that was responsible of organizing the travel. We weren't able to obtain any help from them, just bureaucratic excuses and any real solution. In summary, in Rome NEVER stay at the Nova Domus hotel and don't trust in the TUI travel agency.
