Mercure Roma Piazza Bologna3.0 out of 5.0

We (my wife & I) stayed at the Mercure Piazza Bologna for 4 nights. It's a nice, clean hotel in a quite neighbourhood. No street noise is a definite plus. It's only a 5 minute walk from the nearest Metro Station (Bologna). The good thing is that most cab drives also seem to know the place. The staff is mostly very pleasant and friendly. They are happy to help with any queries and always willing to recommend places to go. The reason why I take 2 points away is that during out stay, the AC in our room was not functioning. I called the reception to have it looked at. On the first call, nobody bothered to come. We called again after about 1 hour and they then sent someone to have a look. Funnily though, it wasn't a technician but rather, the gentleman working behind the bar!! He came in, turned the knob a couple of times, said "this is maximum cooling and if it's not ok, then to ask reception to change rooms". That was it! He walked off after that. I called the reception and they did change my room. However, I was told "to come to the reception and take the key". I didn't appreciate the fact that we had to call 3 times for the same issue and they didn't once bother to call back to check if the problem is fixed. And I certainly didn't appreciate the fact that I was asked to come to the reception to take the key to change the rooms. And ofcourse, I had to take luggage myself to the new room. I expect that at the very least, if they mess up with the room, then atleast have the courtesy to send the key upstairs and some people to help with the move. Hospitality 101. Then at check-out, they didn't seem to know the discounts that apply to Bienvenue members and we kept being told that we should have told them that we are members every time we ordered something. If we've booked a price through their Bienevenue website, then it's kinda obvious that we have the card! I don't see why I need to announce it every time I order something. Anyway enough with the problems. The other thing I like is the fact that they have 3 different options for breakfast with 2 quick breakfast options catering for those in a hurry. So summarise, the stay is comfortable, the price decent and aside of a couple of minor problems which they really should be able to address easily, the hotel is a comfortable place to stay.
Hotel was just what we needed! Clean, friendly staff and perfect location! There are some lovely restaurants close by too! Definitely recommend to couples looking for a romantic break away in Rome. Whilst staying in Rome I highly recommend seeing Vatican City, Its picturesque, definitely something to tick of your bucket list ❤️
great Hotel, staff and specially location. Not my first mercure, always a guarantee of a good service and rate, this one es particulary good, the location is great, next to metro station, 3 stops from Termini
The hotel is a good one. It is near to the metro and only 5 stops from Colosseum. The room which they provided was good. We had a terrace in our floor. Two things I disliked was that the iron was in the gym room.. people were doing gym and I had to get inside the room for ironing. This was awkward Also They had repetitive breakfast. We got the same menu for 3 days. These are my suggestions if they can change .
Good location, three minutes walk from metro and near the center area. Few nice restaurants around. The breakfast and service are very good. The elevator is rather small, I doubt can take more than two people.
If you wanna have room in Rome go for this hotel , price is good with a very warm and welcoming service. We had booked a airport pickup which was very smoothly arranged , the driver stood just in front of the arrival hall and so could find easily .it takes approx 45 mins from the airport to the hotel cost is Eur.65 , when you travel for the longer time it's better to arrange a car for a hassle free arrival . The hotel has a very good breakfast and a small terrace on the 7 floor with a small sitting area with we liked very much. As Rome is a very big city the nearest metro station is Bologna which is few hundred steps away from the hotel.its just 2 station s from the hotel to main station Termini just a ride of 5 mins by metro so the access is very convenient .Now you can go anywhere from Termini as this is the biggest station to access anywhere you like to go via train. The staff is very helpful and cordial , always keen to guide you whatever and however possible.Food is steps away specially if you have a taste of Asian food try for YES FOOD. Try this and am sure that you will like it.
I was there for three nights with y family. We got a triple room. The room was clean and spacious for 3 big suitcases. There are sufficient electricity outlets to let you recharge different devices. Staff members were helpful and efficient. Sadly I didn't receive welcome drink tickets (I am a silver member and I guess the staff forgot). Otherwise I could have enjoyed a drink at the bar after an overnight train from Paris.
We stayed at Mercure Hotel in Piazza Bologna as part of an organized group tour. We found the bartenders, Dario and Alessandro, to be extremely accommodating and friendly. As a group, we spent every evening gathered at the bar sharing our day's events. The bar staff was friendly and happily served our group of lively, excited Americans.
Comfortable and clean . Not a very big room but it was still okay .Our room included. a bath and the room was very quiet Breakfast was included and was very good .It was close to a shopping precinct , market stalls and several good restaurants . We stayed a week and were quite happy . The barmen at the bar were friendly and we were in a big group and enjoyed their Happy hour each evening
I stayed at this hotel for the last week of a month long vacation to Italy and Amsterdam. I almost cried with relief because it felt so familiar. You hear others complaining, "It is a chain hotel. It is not authentic Italy." Here is my realization after 3 weeks in a country where I do not speak the language, am constantly getting lost and don't know the public transportation system: When I have spent all day with unfamiliarity, at the end of the day, I want to be able to flush the toilet without shooting water all over myself and turn out the lights without that much difficulty. I want to be able to make my own cup of coffee and thank heavens, I can get some ice without the staff acting like I just farted on them. The staff at this hotel was fantastic. It was the most comfortable bed I slept in for the entire vacation! As you might have guessed, I am not a low maintenance hotel guest but the staff at this hotel were 100% patient, helpful and knowledgeable. To tell you the truth, I felt so comfortable there, I spent more time in my room "recovering" than in any other hotel I visited. There was plenty of hot water, prosecco in the bar, light food could be ordered in the bar. I could not praise them any stronger! They printed out multiple vouchers for me and I'm pretty sure I was not charged for this. They have a couple of computers for public use, an iron to press my clothes (the only hotel which had this available). Great air conditioning which is very much needed in Italy, even in May. Enough, I loved it! I am going to seek out Mercure Hotels wherever I go and no--I am not an employee!
