This is a beautiful hotel and our welcome was first-class. Unfortunately when you scratch beneath the surface there is a lot missing from a hotel of this class. There is no iron or ironing board in the room. I was told one would be delivered when laundry started at 7am to then be told 8.30 and laundry had to do the ironing. Despite good refreshment facilities we had no milk for tea in the room and the shower came close to flooding. We arrived for breakfast at 7.30 and had to wait to start despite breakfast starting at 7am. The service as breakfast was very poor. It’s sad as this is a lovely hotel; they just need to sort out the finer details.
This hotel has no restaurant and no ironing board in the room. In fact when asked it turns out there isn’t one in the whole hotel. Half the curtains were broken in my room so could not be drawn. And the bathroom smells of sewage. No restaurant is a complete nuisance on business and there is no immediate place to eat - at least a 5 min walk. This is fine if it isn’t hammering down with rain. I have stayed here twice now and I vow never to do so again.
Stayed here for first trip to Rome on business in the local area (Luiss Business School) for 5 nights. Located away from hustle and bustle in a quieter district, 10 minute (tops) walk to the metro. It's clean, quiet and the staff are friendly and very helpful, particularly Daniela who is a gem. Stayed in a junior suite which was very comfortable and had a safe, free wifi ( a little patchy) but no full bath. Breakfast served in the morning with a reasonable selection of food and coffee. Pleasant garden in back with seated area and drinks are served with snacks. No complaints, 5/5 would stay again.
Stayed here for first trip in Rome. The hotel is in a quieter district of Rome but is 10 minute (tops) walk to the metro. It's clean, quiet and the staff are friendly and very helpful. Very nice small boutique hotel in the embassy area. Outside of the normal tourist area. Good breakfast overlooking the garden, very good start to the day. Good size rooms and comfortable beds. Only minor downside is lack of accessible power points in the room. No restaurant but the vibrant MoM restaurant is a short walk.
Stayed here Friday to Monday last year exactly for my partners birthday. I booked it as a surprise and based on the images, it was looking amazing. When we arrived it was just fantastic. The hotel was great! The cleanliness was out of this world! The staff were extremely helpful! We wanted to go somewhere really nice for food that night, so she sent us to a local restaurant called Momart Cafe! We got there and it was absolutely packed so couldn't get in. People were queuing like crazy to get in as well so we headed back to the hotel and said we couldn't get in.. the lady in reception phoned the restaurant, said there's 2 for a table now. She came off the phone and said go back. We did and we got treat like royalty!! The hotel has also a stunning roof terrace! We spent most time up there with a bottle of wine taking in the world! :-) Loved it and would defiantly return! A*****
If you are looking for the hustle and bustle of Rome....this is not the hotel for you. It is located in an upscale residential area near some embassies; but is also conveniently 2 blocks to a grocery store and lovely restaurant. We arrived before check in time and were promptly escorted to our room. It was on the 2nd floor overlooking the very large garden. When we called the desk asking how to turn on the A/C; we were told that they did not turn it on until May 1 !! ( We arrived April 29th) With the temperatures in the mid 60s during the day and the 50s at night; opening the windows was a great option. The peace and quiet were wonderful. Occasionally, an airplane would fly over, but that did not interfere with the overall ambiance. Claudia and Leonardo were extremely helpful in finding restaurants and Claudia is a fabulous "bartender in training!" The full breakfast buffet was excellent as was the cleanliness and comfort of our room.
Pros: updated rooms nice back yard area for breakfast good value location is accessible...5-6 min walk from the metro stop great service and very clean Cons: rooms are generally small ( but that is Europe) there isnt anything around the area of the hotel . It is not "prime" location to the main sites of rome...but the metro station takes you everywhere I would stay there again.
Negatives: work in progress during accomodation, poor breakfast, far from city center, the roman - blindes curtain did not work in one window, a little expensive Positives: friendly staff, clean rooms, well decorated, beautiful garden, helpful and polite reception
The Hotel Príncipe Torlonia is a boutique hotel in an upmarket residential area of Rome, yet a short walking distance away from the Metro, shopping, restaurants and sightseeing. Our visit was made all the more pleasurable by Claudia in reception, who was friendly and professional and assisted us with our requests. Our room was elegant and comfortable with every convenience - bar fridge, toiletries, complimentary tea/coffee station, TV, safe in room, and hair dryer. The bed and bedding was very comfortable and the room and bathroom, and general areas in the hotel very clean.
