Definitely great value for money, the location was really nice (15 minute walk to the vatican or the Piazza Popolo), breakfast was amazing and the staff was really good and helpful and smiley. Hotel was modern and had all you needed.
Picked this hotel for the location, just a block away from the Metro and breakfast was included. However, the overall hotel stay was disappointing. Our first room, 110 was up several stairs which meant all four pieces of our luggage up stairs. Once we entered the room, we were greeted by an overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke. I opened the window and found several cigarettes in the flower box. I choose to advise the front desk as I didn't want to be charged of smoking in the room. Our next room was not initially smelling of smoke and we moved in. Once in there within an hour we smelled smoke, others in the rooms surrounding were smoking and noticeable in our room. We had to open the windows as the AC was not working. The bathroom was not very clean, the shower head and door were covered in calcium or limescale. The ceiling and corners had black mold. The bed was very hard and not comfortable at all. I would have advised the front desk however, we had already changed rooms once. Husband woke up at 4am with back pain. A good bed is key to a successful stay. The front desk female who checked us in and changed our room, was polite and the breakfast staff and food was positive.
I travelled to Rome on October with my husband and my 1 year old and stayed for 3 nights at this hotel. The hotel was very clean, facilities were new (as opposed to most hotels I’ve stayed before in Rome), room was comfortable and had a very nice size for Europe standards, shower was great, restaurant at the hotel was good (we had dinner there twice!) and location was quite conviniente (close to a subway station, 3 blocks away from one Main Street with many restaurantes and shops, 15 min walk from Piazza del Popolo, same for Vatican and approximately 20/30 min from Piazza Navona - I.e. close to main sites but still in a residential and quite area easy to access by our rental car). We made almost all sites walking from the hotel (except for Colleseum which was reached by subway). And whenever tired, we would take a cab back and would not pay more than 12 euros to return. But overall, we were very well impressed with the quality of the services and the incredible assistance we received from the hotel staff. Some of them were not fluent in English, but all spoke some English and were very friendly and inclined to help at all times. They were informed that we would be travelling with a 1 year old and made everything possible to facilitate our stay with a toddler (from allowing an earlier check in time, to providing baby food at breakfast and several baby related equipment at the room to warm her bottle, facilitate the shower and a comfortable crib). They also provided good assistance reserving our transfer from the airport as we only rented the car on our last day in Rome. The silence of the rooms were also impressive given that Rome is quite noisy (I did not hear a thing and could sleep late). We were very pleased that they made our first international trip with our daughter so much easier and pleasant and would definetely recommend them and return. Best services we found during our 21 days in many different places in Italy!
I highly recommend it to anyone who has been looking forward to visit rome . Clean, quite, lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful especially Miss Veronica she was an exceptional person. See you soon.
(+) Clean and modern rooms, adequate breakfast and very delicious cakes, calm area, nice neighborhood, very near to Via Cola di Rienzo shopping street by tram #19 or 10 minutes by walking, convinient transportation for a lot of touristic attractive area by #70 bus and very near to Lepanto metro station. Shuttle option to the airport. (-) It will be nice if there is a cover sheet or linens for quilt, sleeper, kettle & tea. And also a bench out of door :)
Great hotel, breakfast was great! The room was very well presented, the English channels on the tv didn’t work but this was not an issue as the free WiFi was fast and stable enough for phone and iPad viewing. Staff were helpful, the hotel was only a 10 minute walk to The Vatican and only 5 minutes from the Metro. I would defiantly stay here again if visiting Rome.
The hotel is situated in part of a former convent and while it is an historic building, which may be of interest to some, as an hotel overall it was a disappointing experience. I simply cannot understand how this hotel achieved and maintains it's 4 star rating. The bed was very uncomfortable, the wifi was very slow, the room furniture and bathrooms are in urgent need of refurbishment, the breakfast buffet was limited and of poor quality. The air-con in the bedroom was faulty and despite 2 requests was not properly repaired. There is no outside area or terrace in the hotel. I paid €206 for my room and was shocked at what poor value it was. The area around the hotel has little to offer and despite reviews saying that it was close to points of interest it is rather devoid of restaurants. The nearest decent restaurant I found is a good 800 meters away. Frankly, I cannot recommend this hotel at the price I paid and would not choose to stay there again on the same basis.
Last month, I came from a trip to Italy. My friends and I visited Florence, Venice, and Rome- In that order. The experience was magical until we made it to Rome. Upon check-in we were greeted by a sarcastic condescending front desk employee by the name of Mehran who seemed to have a vendetta against Americans/America. Everything that came out of our mouths seemed to both annoy and fluster him. My friends and I are from the U.S. and on the very first day we asked if the metro buses ran all day and Mehran replied in verbatim "Unfortunately this is not your country. This is Italy." We attempted to ask other questions, but he abruptly cut us off and stated "thought you might want to freshen up first" all to get away from doing his job of making the customers feel welcomed. Before walking away he told my friend "Out of all the years I've been working here you've been the most challenging". Keep in mind this all happened on day one! On the last day he swiped my debit and credit cards over 7 times in total during check-out because the cards wouldn't go through the first time (I spoke to my credit union about that when I got back home and they said it was an issue on the hotel's end). I gave him permission to swipe one additional time! Let's not talk about the headache I went through trying to clear these transactions from my account. When my friends and I would ask to speak to his manager, Mehran and his colleagues would say that the manager was coming later (never happened), the manager was off, or the manager was on vacation. Everyone at the front desk was in cahoots trying to cover for one another. He also managed to squeeze in the fact that my friend wasted his time asking so many questions and that he had other things to do. Don't think because the hotel has an overall good score that it's good. Read the negative comments as well! Ps- Our floor and room smelled like smoke and the entire hotel had a nauseating musty/smoke smell. I would say that the only positive side to this hotel was the friendly kitchen employees. Though the breakfast was sub par.
Visited Rome with 30 Business Partners last week and stayed in Hotel Metropolis . Great service in all respects. Thanks to the whole team! You really made it a great week for us. One of the best in Rome! Keep up the great work and thanks again.
The staff were polite and very helpful. The breakfast was of good quality of mixed cooked and cold buffet. WE were up graded to a room with an extra room like a dinning area and had skylights but no windows which was OK. The Location was good and not far to walk to the main touristy bits like the Vatikan. A longish walk to the Colliseaum but bus and tram were available. I took my car and could have put it in secure parking but chose to park it outside the Hotel for a nominal fee which worked out really well. WE could not get the Sky box to work so could not get any english speaking channels. The staff could not get it to work either. All in all a good Hotel
