The hotel itself looks very good. It's located in an ancient architectural building in typical Roman style. The lobby was very modern, and the interior of the hotel in general looked good. When we got in the room, we immediately noticed a sigaret smell. Upon that we noticed the reception, and after lot's of explaining, somebody came to the room. They offered us to change the room, but we decided to stay at the room, because is was located at the end of the hall, and was quite silent. In the room, the bed was absolutely not hotel quality. The matras was very hard, and the bed itself was very squicky. We have to notice, at the other side of the hallway, our joining party had an excellent boxspring bed. And the room was quite larger. The breakfast was very poor. The staff was not experienced, we had to ask for coffee over 4 or 5 times, and this every day. At the end we got it ourselves. Breakfast variety was very poor. Brown bread, white bread, pastries, nutella & jam. There were eggs to, scrambled, but they came out of a bag and were industrial. They tasted like c***. We've expected more of the hotel after the pics we've seen, but were relatively dissepointed.
After booking I had a few reservations due to the few bad reviews that I see on here. I can’t understand why anyone would leave a bad review. Perfectly situated 10 minute walk to Vatican and less than 5 to a met station. The hotel itself is very modern, but small, we upgraded to a superior which was a good size. We had a jacuzzi bath tub which was a nice touch. Room 203, overlooks a road but didn’t bother us. We were given all the amenities in a room that you would expect from a 4* property of this size. Bathrobes, slippers, complimentary bathroom toiletries. Having stayed in Rome before I would say most rooms that are standard would be small so I would recommend to upgrade. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Reception staff give good tourist advice and maps etc. Breakfast is complimentary and also the staff are very accommodating. The maintenance man was very helpful when showing us how to use the hot tub. If in Rome again I would not hesitate to use this hotel again. Thanks again 😊
Lovely hotel, within walking distance from Lepanto Metro station. Friendly, helpful staff. Small, but tastefully decorated rooms. Bar is too small! Nice restaurant, plentiful breakfast and discount on dinner for guests.
Hotel is nearby a metro station, also walking distance to Vatican for maybe Wednesday pope blessing at 10:00. Hotel was well decorated and clean, staff at breakfast welcoming, not too bad at the reception. Breakfast buffet is really basic, a lot of cakes/desserts, no fresh bread, no Italian cheeses, I was though once lucky to get freshly cut fruits. Asked for extra blanket and pillows one evening, had to wait over 2 hours to get them after several calls to «one-touch service». Used tea/coffee cups not removed/replaced after room cleaning, no tea bags or expresso powder added when empty. Overall a good stay but was expecting a higher standard and a bit better service when this is a 4 stars hotel chain.
It is not a fresh hotel like shown on the pictures on the booking com or the actual hotel web site. Those pictures were probably done in 2005...It is not clean, the carpet floor is old and not fresh. Rooms are too small to mention, like a box with no corridor. When you open the room door you may touch the bed corner.... The pillows are not comfortable. Same concerns the bathroom, the sanitary is old and it is not fresh and clean... Visually it has nothing to do of 4 stars. The room windows were directed to the inner yard. The view is horrible. Breakfast is right on the limit. Not a one of 4 stars. The list of TV channels in the room does not correspond to what you have, when you call the reception - they cannot help with it. No sleepers in the room, you have to ask for them. No bathrobes. When you ask the reception for the bathrobes - you are advised that there are no bathrobes available as other guests are using them already... And in the very end - you have a check out time in 11.00 a.m.... You may say - "hey - the price corresponds to what you have", NO, it does not, Rome is full of different offers in winter and for this price you may find a much better place. I visit Rome 4-6 times a year and I know it well. We have taken this decision based on the pictures in the booking.com and this was not corresponding to a true picture. The good things in this hotel are : wifi, parking abilities in the blocks around hotel, new elevator, clean bed lining, nice coffee within breakfast. But that's it...
We stayed here for 3 nights in Jan 2018. Everyone we spoke with at reception was very friendly and helpful whenever we asked for assistance. Our room was nice and modern, perhaps a bit small but we didn’t need a big room as we only slept there. It would have been nice to have tea & coffee facilities even in the standard rooms. My understanding is this is available with upgraded rooms. Breakfast had a good selection available with some hot bits & pieces (eggs, bacon) and also pastries, cakes, yoghurts, cereal and bread. We did eat in the hotels restaurant on our first night but sadly I was feeling unwell so didnt eat much. My partner said he felt it was very standard food. Overall a very comfortable hotel with friendly staff and a welcoming feel.
Fantastic place to stay, beautifully decorated. Our room was fantastic and had plenty of space, the jacuzzi bath was a god send after all the walking that was done. The staff were really helpful, courteous, and generally very welcoming. The location was great, and found it very easy to get to all the sites, with the very helpful map that was given to us at reception. Hotel Metropolis is a real find.
Thank you Hotel Metropolis for a lovely stay. Booking in was great, all the people on the front desk were really friendly and spoke great English. They provided you with a map upon arrival and replaced it when needed. They also booked taxis for us which arrived only minutes after. The room was nice, clean and modern. Bathroom was good but the shower was very dark. Breakfast was lovely and the coffee was good, again the staff were so helpful. Location was good, not to far to Vatican or anywhere really. The only time we used a taxi was to the Colosseum and airport. I would definitely stay here again, Thank you
Fantastic place to stay! Check in was fast and efficient (as was check out). We had dinner at the restaurant- delicious & 5 star service all the way. Breakfast was ok 4/5.. rooms are trendy, spacious and clean. Sheets and towels changed daily. Great location - walking distance to The Vatican and easy access to the Leptano Metro stop (150 metres away).. we used the metro to go everywhere. Highly recommend (sorry I forgot to take pics)
Unfortunately Due to flight cancellation I have stayed only one night. Our room was front view and it was really quiet. We have stored our luggage after check out to have a bit more time to go around Rome. Hotel is beautiful and staff really friendly. If I will have a chance to come back to Rome, for sure I will stay here again! Thank you guys!
