Visited Rome with 30 Business Partners last week and stayed in Hotel Metropolis . Great service in all respects. Thanks to the whole team! You really made it a great week for us. One of the best in Rome! Keep up the great work and thanks again.
The staff were polite and very helpful. The breakfast was of good quality of mixed cooked and cold buffet. WE were up graded to a room with an extra room like a dinning area and had skylights but no windows which was OK. The Location was good and not far to walk to the main touristy bits like the Vatikan. A longish walk to the Colliseaum but bus and tram were available. I took my car and could have put it in secure parking but chose to park it outside the Hotel for a nominal fee which worked out really well. WE could not get the Sky box to work so could not get any english speaking channels. The staff could not get it to work either. All in all a good Hotel
We booked this hotel last minute assuming as it was next to the Vatican it would be ok. We couldn't have been more wrong. The hotel itself claims to be a 4 star but is pushed to offer the services of a 3 star. The decor was tasteless, cheap and tacky despite what there pictures may show. You can hear the people both above and next door to you taking a shower which makes your room sound like it's flooding when they are both being used at the same time. The hotel has a strange obsession with fish and the lobby always smells of it. On arrival the receptionist didn't seem very well trained and fumbled about trying to get us checked in. On the first night we went to get a drink at the bar and we're shown to a dirty table covered in wine stains and crumbs despite there being dozens of other tables free. It looked like they were trying to setup for breakfast at 8pm at night. We just walked out without buying a drink. Across from the hotel is the city's courthouse which means that undesirables are hanging around the hotel all day and night. One even smashed the hotel door while we were there. The only positive thing to say is that it is a short walk to the Vatican. There is nothing else to do around the hotel at night. No iron in the room but they say they will get you one and don't bother. The towel rail is in the shower so they end up soaked and if you put the towels on the floor to be replaced they just hang them back up. The bedding wasn't changed for the whole week we visited. The breakfast was very basic and and lacks any kind of virility or taste and you can easily stand for 15mins waiting to make your own toast in a domestic house toaster. Would make a better youth hostel than a 4 star hotel.
Spent a week in Rome to get our son settled for a semester at Richmond University through St Thomas - their residence (Bernardi) is nearby... Lovely hotel, clean, friendly staff, spoke great English, nice restaurant with a wonderful assortment every morning. Restaurant nice for dinner too! Great location for proximity to the Vatican, Piazza Navona, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, shopping... Easy access to the subway.
If I can give this review no star, I would. My travel companions and I booked this hotel for 5 nights (August 2, 2017 to August 7, 2017). Upon arrival the front desk clerk, was very rude, arrogant, and condescending. This was our first time in Italy, so we had a couple of questions. When we asked if the metro runs all day, he responded, “Unfortunately this is not your country, you are in Italy.” Then he proceeded to write down the time. When asked about the notice he wanted us to sign upon arrival, he said, “That is why it is in your language Madame.” He cut us short of asking questions and said, “Thought you might want to freshen up first; out of all the years I’ve been working here you’ve been the most challenging”- prompted after asking questions. During check out, we encountered the same front desk clerk, that we met during check in. He became extremely upset about having to wait on problematic card and said, “That’s why I told you to close out the card upon arrival.” When we asked the front desk clerk to speak to the manager, he refused to give us a name and said the manager was in the United States. But when we asked the staff from the dining area, they not only gave us a name, but said she would be in by 9am that day. The front desk clerk was dishonest. While still at check out, he continued stating angrily, “Your friend, she wasted my time. I have other things to do. Other customers are waiting” (there wasn’t anyone else behind us waiting). He continued ranting saying, “I do not need this job, there are plenty of hotels, and I can find another job.” I would not recommend this hotel. As often as I travel, I have never experienced such terrible service. It took two weeks to finally get in touch with a manager. I wanted to file a formal complaint. I called almost every day and was told that management was in the United States. This was a lie because my travel companion was able to contact the manager a week earlier due to her credit card being charged twice by the hotel. When I spoke to the manager about the situation (check in and check out), she was very nonchalant and basically told me that there was no such thing as filing a complaint. Do not waste your time here, because they don’t care. The pictures are deceiving. We had a room for 3 adults with 3 twin beds, which was quite small. The bathroom door did not have a lock and there was no tissue provided in the room. The city centre and Vatican are about a 20 minute walk from the hotel, the Pantheon is a 30 minute walk, and the Colosseum being the furthest away from the hotel, about a 45 minute walk. If you plan to walk to these attractions, this hotel is far. There is a metro stop nearby (Lepanto). Breakfast was descent and the breakfast staff was pleasant. The food was always replenished during breakfast.
Beautiful hotel very clean and tidy, great location it is centrally located, 10 minutes from the Vatican and easy access to underground to get to the centre of Rome. Great staff were welcoming and very helpful. The breakfast and the restaurant had a great variety. Thanks to all of you for your hospitality you made our vacation an enjoyable and memorable one! We look forward to one day returning.
Stayed here for 3 nights. Staff were exceptionally polite and spoke great English (which was better than my non exsistant Italian) Room was very comfortable, food both breakfast and dinner was really good. The hotel is very easy walking distance to the Vatican (10-15 mins) and less than a 5 min walk to the metro. Bar is adiquate and manned by polite staff.
We would definitely recommend this hotel. Our room was fantastic, a large suite with a hot tub! The bed was very comfortable and the room in general was very clean. It was in a great location, close to the Vatican and easy walking from Lepetano Metro, also a few local restaurants very close by.Breakfast was adequate, although not outstanding. Would definitely stay here again.
We were told when booking we were booking a Suite with a hot tub and bath. We arrived at the property our room was tiny and nothing like the way it was described, and there was no hot tub or bath, the room wasn't even clean the floor was dirty the bathroom was dirty our bed was in comfy and the sheets were rough and horrible. The air-con made my partner and I extremely ill giving us coughs and colds. The staff were awful! The cleaner rummaged through all of our stuff everyday resulting in stuff going missing but we had no proof it was her, she also threw some of my clothes in the bin the one day and covered them in cleaning products, reception offered to clean them but wasn't good enough especially as we had told them we didn't want our room cleaned by the cleaner multiple times. On our first night we had a meal at the hotel which wasn't cheap and it was absolutely awful, worst meal we've ever had and all cutlery wasn't even clean. We paid over £100 a night for this tiny room and bathroom and it was not worth a single penny, it was my 18th birthday aswell and it was ruined, will definetly not be staying there ever again.
This is a lovely, comfortable hotel, 15 minutes walk from the Vatican and only a few minutes from the Lepetano Metro stop on line A, so handy for everywhere you might want to go. Rooms are very clean, with good showers and satellite TV chanells. The free breakfast is exceptional - an all you can eat buffet that offers almost anything that you could want. The staff are all lovely and friendly - the tone was set by the man on reception during the week, who was unfailingly kind, helpful and patient. I can't recommend this place highly enough as a base to explore Rome, which is a little bit off the beaten track.
