Hotel Morgana4.0 out of 5.0

The Hotel Morgana is very convenient being so close to the main train station. The rooms are fairly good size and well maintained being recently modernized. The breakfast is very well presented and offer an extensive range. The staff are all very welcoming and look after us well. But there are a few things that need sorting to make this hotel get my 5 star approval. The hotel ticks all the boxes to make it a 4 star hotel but little things like:- 1. no complimentary tea and coffee facility in your room (a extra 2.50 euros a day) appear a bit mean. 2. The bar is only open Friday and Saturday evening so when you return form a hard day exploring Rome you can not get a drink. Apparently you can order coffee from reception but this is not made obvious. 3. no restaurant on site - you have to go out each evening to eat. Not a problem as there are some great restaurants nearby. Yes I would recommend this hotel to others. It is a good hotel but with a little bit extra effort it would be a superb hotel.
Great central location for station and sites, lovely breakfast, helpful staff. Initial lobby impression not brilliant but bedroom was nice and big and comfortable with a nice big shower. Hop on bus stop 2 minutes walk away
This was a lovely hotel that met our requirements perfectly. A nice room, upgraded due to an issue which was quickly resolved. Friendly staff and overall good service. The breakfast was standard but ok. There were many restaurants on the doorstep and within walking distance. Metro station and bus stops close by. Also a supermarket. I’d book this hotel again.
We stayed at the Morgana Hotel for two nights breaking up our journey by train to Sicily. The hotel is located very convenient for the main terminus station, being only 5 minutes walk away at most and on a quiet street. On arrival, we were invited to help ourselves to coffee in the lounge while we were registered, and then allocated our room in the first floor. This was very comfortably appointed and the bed comfortable to sleep on. Breakfast was in the pleasant breakfast room with an excellent choice provided. The hotel recommended the nearby Trattoria Cecio for dinner and made a reservation for us; we had a very enjoyable meal there. Although away from the central area, the colosseum is only two Metro stops away and there are frequent buses from close to the hotel to the historic part of the city. Staff on reception were unfailingly helpful and the wifi in the room was good.
Hotel Morgana is on one of the streets running parallel to the main station on the north west of central Rome (the station is called Termini (- not as I assumed because it is the main terminus for trains and buses but because the area was named after thermal baths - thermae). It’s not an area that’s going to win any awards for salubrious but it’s got lots of places to eat, great transport links, only a 20 minute walk from the Colosseum and the Forum...and, for Rome, it’s not too pricey. Behind the exterior of Roman shabby chic the hotel is very clean, well decorated and well staffed. It’s age is apparent when you see the size of the lifts they’ve managed to fit in the space - cosy! Our bed was large, firm and very comfortable. In the beautifully decorated bedroom the air con worked well in an unseasonably hot April (28 degrees!). Buffet breakfast was great as was the service. Only real gripe was the noise. Our room was on the second floor overlooking the street. Roman bin men work very unsociable hours and seem to want everyone to know it - 3am! It remains a very busy and popular hotel - And excellent value bearing in mind that it’s in central Rome, and where it is in central Rome!
One of the reasons we chose this hotel was that it was close to the train station. We arrived early and our room was not ready but we were directed into the lounge where we were told to help ourselves.to drinks and pastries. Shortly after they came to tell us our room was ready. The room was a reasonable size, clean and comfortable. Breakfast had plenty of choice and the restaurant staff were lovely. Reception were very helpful at giving directions and ordering taxis. The area is a little run down and we were concerned at some of the comments about the area, but we found it ok and did not feel nervous about walking around on a night time. Plenty of restaurants nearby. We would be happy to stay here again.
Firstly there should be a good setting on here as average to very good is a big jump. The hotel is in a very good location right next to the main station, few good restaurants close by and walking distance to many attractions. Breakfast has a good selection and worth it. All the staff were very nice and helpful
Stayed in this hotel from the 16th to 20th of April, it is not the fault of the hotel but the area is very down at heal, we would not advise any one to turn left when leaving the hotel as the area is down right depressing. positives the bed was comfortable and the room was well fitted except for one glaring omission that there was no mirror over the dressing table.not much good for ladies. In our room there was also a problem with the sink in the bathroom in that the plug could not be lowered, so it was not possible to fill the sink with water. No we did not inform reception, the room was cleaned daily by the hotel staff and I expect them to report problems not for me the guest to spend my time checking and reporting all faults in the room. Our room was at the back of the hotel looking down onto a flat roof that has suffered from the smokers throwing cigarette ends onto the roof when they have had their smoke leaning out of their room window, not the hotels fault but another thing they need to pay attention to as it make the view from these rooms very scruffy. The breakfast was very good apart from the bacon which suffered from being grilled to charcoal. Overall the hotel to us was not four star as rated but three star, but it must be said that the staff are four star. They cannot do enough for you. Would we return, if we had another visit to Rome, in some ways yes as it was very convenient for transport links to the rest of the city. But in other ways the area was extremely down at heel and would stop us coming to this hotel again.
Had a great time in Rome with my spouse, and this hotel had everything we needed. Breakfast each morning was so convenient and had a great variety. Staff was very helpful, the restaurant recommendations they gave were very good. They assisted with our plan tours to make sure we knew where we should be going. They even called our transportation company the day before are departing flight to make sure we knew the exact pick-up time. I see only 2 downsides 1. There was an 12 EU tax for the room, per day, that was not included in our package and had to be paid using Cash. Had I known this before we left for Rome I would have allocated enough USD currency to cover this. 2. There were alot of locals that were standing in front of the Hotel each night. It seems everyone goes to this street after work and drinks and smoke. The first day or so we were nervous having to walk through this crowd, but we eventually got used to it.
We loved this hotel and the close proximity to the train station. At the station you are able to pick up train, bus, metro and taxi service. It's a short walk from the hotel to the station. The service was great and the front desk was extremely helpful with information on getting around town and a wonderful local restaurant.
