This hotel was a little out of the way, but within walking distance to the Vatican area, if not other major tourist attractions such as Roman forum etc. If you enjoy a quiet area and walking, this is a nice choice. If you aren’t as mobile, it may not be the best choice. Clean, minimalist, but updated rooms and a decent breakfast. Close enough to public transportation lines as well. The cherry on top is the beautiful view from their rooftop terraces, which are lovely at sunset and dawn.
I have visited this hotel for two days, in occasion of the yearly convention of my trade union. The rooms are extremely spacious, comfortable and clean. The kitchen offers a wide range of dishes prepared in an extremely professional way, which results in very tasty dishes for a very reasonable price. The location is a few hundred meters from S Peters square. The staff is particularly kind and at disposal for any request. A special thanks to Agnese, the bartender who has been extremely kind and accommodating. Strongly recommended. Photo from the balcony.
A beautiful modern hotel in the back roads near Vatican City. Very modern room with all the expectations (minus slipper... tut tut 😂). Parking available which is a blessing in this area; charged at 10€ per 24hrs. Only stayed for 1 night so didn’t really us the hotel to its fullest. Finished to a very high spec in a good location. No complaints.
First 2 nights in Rime stayed st hotel. Nice room with courtyard. Breakfast included on our tour group. Clean, near everything. Wifi. Nice bath. Lots of towels. Very quiet and safe Would recommend it Very modern. Nice bar and bistro on first level
Have just returned from a 4 night stay at Il Cantico and really enjoyed it. Room was kept immaculate. Bathroom was great with wonderful shower. Staff were very helpful especially with my taxi which they phoned to confirm for me, then contacted them again when it didn’t arrive on time. Bar area ideal place to sit for a drink at the end of a busy day, with great service and food. I even sat in here for a few hours once checking out and waiting for my taxi, which they were more than happy for me too do. Breakfast typical continental. You can sit outside but need to ask so tables can be set up, which I wasn’t aware of until after few days. Location perfect as only 5 - 10 minutes to Vatican and the other main sites of Rome. A bus was identified but I feel the walk helps you discover more, but you need soft comfy shoes and strong legs. I would definitely stay here again as ideal place to stay 👍👍
Me and my boyfriend had a wonderful stay at the Il Cantico hotel. Hidden in a peaceful residential area behind a busy main road, this hotel is in the perfect location for a quiet evening and night’s sleep to rejuvenate after a busy day of sightseeing. All main attractions are within close walking distance of the hotel too, so this was a major bonus. Upon arrival a lady provided us with a very warm welcome and a map of Rome and the train routes- super useful for newbies like us! We were very pleased to find water tanks outside of our rooms which we filled our water bottles up for the day and nighttime. The room itself was very modern, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was fairly standard with eggs and bacon and some yoghurt, granola and pastries. However we found this to be quite sufficient to fuel us for our busy day, plus the bacon was cooked to perfection... perfect for a bacon butty! We used the hotel bar on a couple of nights and were very impressed with the outdoor terrace area which we usually had to ourselves because of how quiet it was. The staff in the bar were very accommodating and friendly- we couldn’t fault the service. We also ventured up to the top floor (outdoor terrace area) which has a fabulous view of the surrounding area. However, climb up the silver metal stairs to the very very top and you’ll find an even more fantastic view of the Vatican area. We even spotted Trevi fountain lit up in the distance. This is the perfect spot to sit up with a drink for a quiet romantic evening. When checking out early on Saturday morning, we were disappointed to be greeted by a rather grumpy gentleman! Firstly he made us wait to finish something he was doing on his computer and didn’t even make eye contact with us. Then, despite having breakfast included in our booking, he proceeded to charge us for breakfast including the additional 4 euros per night per person tax. This is very odd considering the lady who had greeted us on arrival confirmed to us that her system said we had breakfast included. We obviously questioned the man about this and showed him our booking confirmation, which he then asked me to email to him to confirm. Bearing in mind we had a taxi waiting for us to take us to the airport, we had no time to be confirming what our booking actually entailed! We felt he dealt with this in a very unaccommodating and unfriendly way. This is such a shame as we had had a very excellent experience leading up to this. Despite this minor hiccup, I would absolutely stay at the Il Cantico again.
We had a friend stay here during her time in Rome and she gave it wonderful reviews so we decided to stay here as well. The hotel is very modern and quite a luxurious hotel compared to the other 3 start hotels we have stayed in during our time in Italy. We had a room on the ground floor and had a nice private patio. The rooms were very clean upon arrival. There was lots of lighting in the room, but the bathroom was a little on the small side (it was hard for two people to be in there at the same time because of the way the door opened). However, the bathroom was very nice with a rain shower and the size is definitely not a deal breaker. The rooftop has a wonderful view of St. Peter’s Basilica. We went to the bar each night and got a glass of wine which we took to the roof to enjoy the view. It was so peaceful and hardly anyone was up there. Because this hotel is in a more residential area of Rome, there was not a lot of street noise to disturb us either. However, our second night hotel staff came and kicked us off the roof at 10:30 because they had to lock up (we were up there until at least midnight the first night). One down side of the hotel was that the WiFi basically did not work in the room. While normally WiFi wouldn’t be a problem for us, we were trying to avoid turning our cell phones on so it made it very difficult to check messages and do research while we were in the room. (This is the reason we gave the hotel 4 stars instead of 5) There is a refrigerator and a safe in the room as well as a closet with shelves. The hotel has water fountains on each hall with room temperature water, cold water, and sparkling water.
Clean. Simple hotel but classy. Near Vatican and accessible to San Pietro train station and bus station. Minutes of walking can lead you to good restaurants and gelati stalls. The receptionists are very helpful and they can immediately get you a cab towards your destination. Definitely love their service.
This is our second visit to this hotel and it did not disappoint. Staff are friendly and helpful and the hotel was very clean and tidy. The restaurant was always quiet but the food was very good. It has an excellent roof terrace with superb view of at peters basilica especially night time when it's illuminated. The surrounding area is residential with plenty of bars and restaurants. The only downside is the usual rubbish stacked up against rubbish bins that haven't been emptied but this was not unique to this area it was in most places. Well within walking distance of all the main tourist attractions. Will definitely visit again.
This is a good little hotel. So handy to the Vatican city and a decent walk to all other Rome attractions. It's in a residential neighbourhood so great setting. There is no lobby to speak if but a good sitting area outside . The room we had was just the rite size for 2. Bathroom was compact and a very good shower. The room was modern extremely clean and plenty if wardrobe space. We were on the first floor and had a lovely little balcony which was a pleasant surprise. The only negative was no tea and coffee making facilities in the room but they did provide an initial bottle of water which could be refilled on the corridor. Staff were very helpful and eager to help with questions ,ordering taxis etc. Would stay here again and would recommend it.
