The hotel is close to Termini Station (about 10min walk) however, it's in the opposite direction of all the sightseeing so if you are walking, it takes a bit longer. However, there is a metro station near the hotel if you decide to ride the metro or various buses that go from different directions to Termini Station. Hotel Staff was really nice and welcoming. There are two buildings that are part of the hotel, one where the reception is and another building next door. There is an elevator in both to carry luggages. We were staying in the building next door (think it's called Annex) and one concern was that every time we walk out of the hotel or come to the hotel, the front door wasn't locked because guests wouldn't close the door so anyone could enter the building.
Great room for great price, cool decor and close to termini. Definitely recommend!
Within 5 minute walking distance from the Roma Termini. Stayed in a single private room, was extremely clean and more spacious than I was expecting for the price.
Not a single complaint. Staff very friendly and helpful, I would definitely recomend this Hotel., Thank you.
Hotel was very close to the metro so easy to get around. It had a questionable luggage storage on the ground floor which was not watched too vigilantly. Our room, on the 1st floor, was fine for one night. Except DO NOT open the closet, it smelled of rotten feet, leaving a lingering odor the entire night. It is also about a 5 minute walk to the central train station (5 blocks away), nice if traveling by train (also a bus from the airport will drop you off here) but you will need to travel to get to the tourist attractions.
this hotel is wonderful....both location and rooms staff was great....will go back again when in Rome
Location was good, and the staff was extremely helpful, room was clean, however the bed WAS SOOOO HARD, EXTRA FIRM, might as well slept on the tile floor. We woke up stiff and sore every morning.
We ended up staying in the building next door and was told that it's nicer because it's newer. Well, I didn't get to see the rooms in the "main" building (reception is on 5th floor and shares the building with some other hotels) to compare. Our room was very plain and ordinary looking so I fear how the rooms in the "main" building are. Plus side: our double room was fairly roomy and quiet. The double bed was made up of two twin beds put together and a little hard (standard). Shower was small but fine. The neighborhood is just ok....safe when we walked around although it did look a bit shady. We thought it was close to the Termini Stazione, but the hotel was several blocks farther than expected. Although our rate included breakfast, we couldn't take advantage of that because we had to check out early (6:15 am). We weren't able to get any breakfast to go because the kitchen wasn't even open. Overall, we felt the price Des Artistes charges don't match the value they deliver (it's overpriced). We felt as if we were mixed in with their hostel side.
The hotel had a great location. Only a 5min walk from the Metro. Lots of dinning close by and even a little market right around the corner. I would recomend this hotel to all of my friends.
Hotel is, as stated, just a few minutes' walk from Termini. Also close to subway stations, though those who like to walk won't have too much trouble getting around the city. The setup is a little strange, as reception and the breakfast room are in one building, and the lodging in another a little further down the street, but once you have that straight, it's not an issue. The room was very nice and clean (though it isn't as picturesque as displayed on the site), with air conditioning and a TV. They even had a wall outlet for American products to plug into! The bathroom was the best part though. Extremely clean and modern, very nice shower. My only complaint in regards to the room was the bed. It was stiff and uncomfortable. The staff were very helpful throughout our stay, giving us directions and helping arrange for a taxi our final morning. The only annoying thing was housekeeping's tendency to rearrange our stuff.
Very spacious room. There are two parts to this hotel, the Hostel and then the actual hotel, which was not bad. We didn't spend much time there anyway but the room was big enough to stretch out. It was about a 10 minute walk to the main train station Terminini and the area around the hotel is littered with good restaurants.
convenient location to train station if you're like us & want to be able to walk there, pulling luggage! However, there was little nearby in terms of sites. There was a nearby store, and a coffee shop across the street. Very pleasant & helpful staff. The breakfast was great. Our room was near the stairs, so it was a bit noisy.
The Hotel Des Artistes was a pleasant surprise. Initially I thought I was not going to like it because I am accustomed to large foyers and fancy lobbies. This is truly a European-style hotel; yet it was clean and had impeccable service - from reception to housekeeping. Very helpful staff, particularly with directions and travel tips. Reception desk was always polite and knowledgeable. Breakfast was always satisfactory; room safe was secure and easy to operate. The only area that could use improvement is the bathroom amenities. Not adequate soap/gels/shampoo. I would definitely return when doing a brief stay in Rome.
The hotel is located near Termini and can be reached by walking. However, the pavement is rather crude for most of the walk. Helpful hints not in most guide descriptions: exit the station from the west or north exit. We left from the south station and had to lug our stuff an excessive distance. Another possibility is to come in from subway. The hotel is just around the corner from Castro Pretoria station. Overall, the location is excellent as a base for travel, though there are not a lot of good restaurants around and you pretty much have to take public transport to get to most sites. One exception is the National Museums, which are excellent and within walking distance. The breakfast was very good. Internet was available for a modest fee. The rooms were very well appointed for this budget range and had plenty of room and large windows. Very comfortable, especially with the A/C in the Rome heat of the summer. This is the second time we have used this hotel. The first was over ten years ago without kids, and this time with kids, the experience was again very nice. Finally, the staff is friendly, professional, and helpful. They went out of their way to help and even helped us relocate our lost child (who wandered in one of the museums).
Hotel was clean...staff very helpful...perfect location around the corner from a metro location...lots of good places to eat nearby..."included" breakfast was disappointing (generic overly sweet pastries/coffee from an automatic dispenser-we are in italy right?/"juice" was basically high fructose corn syrup with water and food coloring/room temp milk left out for the cereal)...but the one thing i would suggest is that you DO NOT pay for the internet! slower than dial up..nothing would ever load...not worth the money or the headache. otherwise we enjoyed our stay.
By the Stazione Termini but that was good for all your tourist needs. Drunk singing well into the night.
We were in Rome for just one afternoon/night and wanted something near the Termini train station so we could drop our bags and head out on the town. Des Artistes was just a 5 minute walk from the Termini, and from there we were able to walk to Trevi Fountain, etc., in the center of Rome. After hours on boats and trains we were happy to do some walking. Des Artistes was priced right compared to other hotels. We got a room with a private bath -- if you don't care about that you can probably get an even better bargain. Room was clean and nice, bathroom was modern, nice, shower (no bath) had plenty of hot water. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and spoke good English. We arrived early and the room was not quite ready so they sent in 3 maids and had it ready in 5 minutes. Wireless internet was 1 euro for an hour, or you can buy larger blocks of time. They arranged a cab for us to go to the airport in the morning, for a flat 40 Euros, and the cab was right on time, nice car with a friendly driver. There is a somewhat noisy bar across the street but even with the window open it didn't really bother us, just part of the atmosphere. Of course we were so tired we could have slept through an earthquake. Can't comment on heat/ac, as the weather was perfect when we were there (Sept) and we didn't need anything. The room we were in was in a separate building from the main one with the lobby (just next door) but it had card key entry and seemed quite secure. The price includes breakfast but it doesn't start till 7:30 and we left before that so missed out on it. If you want nice clean basics and like the location, Des Artistes is a good value.
