The Beach Tulum3.5 out of 5.0

Where to start? The accommodations were amazing, we had the beach level suite where we walked out our door straight to the beach. Ziggy's food was amazing. The decor and grounds were beautiful and immaculate. But the thing that blew us away more than anything was the wonderful staff. We're going to miss them sooo much! Eloisa, Vickie, Mariana, Sam and Sammy were not only friendly accommodating and professional they made us feel like we were staying with friends. Their smiles and warm greetings every time we walked in the room warmed our hearts. We enjoyed every minute we got to spend with them. Truly an experience we have never had staying anywhere else in the world and it's because of them. This place is paradise and the people are just the best. Can't wait to go back!
We just returned and are still talking about it! I won't repeat descriptions that others before have because they are spot on. We were in 109 and it's exactly 23 steps from the room to your beach bed. 😊 Before I go into other things, I have to mention that the staff is probably the kindest and sweetest we have ever encountered on all our travels. Unbelievably nice and helpful. You don't cross paths with many people like this in life. What I say next is not to be negative in any way and it has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with staff or the hotel. Tulum is off the grid and basically run off generators. Our room was the only air conditioning we saw. You are also in a jungle. You will stay hot and you have to be diligent with bug spray. I'm from the South and I thought I knew humidity...I was wrong. We were also here in July and I understand that. I'm sure earlier in the year it would be wonderful. As I said earlier, this is not laying blame on anything or anyone. It is just something no one ever mentions on here. We hope to go back one day and see these precious people again. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Drive to Tulum beach, take the small two way road that goes parallel to the beach, park in any of the parkings which belong to the restaurants or hotels (there are some open ones too), walk to the beach and have a great day. Good restaurants and cozy hotels through the 3 or 4 km strip. At the end of the road, a national park, free entrance, you can drive inside beside the beach and park at the end (30 minutes drive approx). Great day out !
If you are looking for a small boutique hotel with a staff that authentically cares about your visit then this is the hotel for you. It is romantic, the rooms are nicely appointed, the restaurant has the best fish compared to so many places recently. The bar is as enjoyable on a sunny day as it is in the evening and a great place to hide in rainy weather. The live music is a nice addition in the evenings.
A perfect getaway in the paradise of Tulum. This hotel is simple luxury and it's the small details that make it so perfect: swings at the bar and over the pool; friendly staff; a clean beach front with soft sand that's raked every morning; and outstanding food. I'd return without question and do it all again tomorrow! The hotel arranged a driver to pick us up from the airport on arrival. He was excellent - swift and polite with cold towels and water awaiting us. This was our honeymoon and at the hotel the room was decorated with rose petals for our arrival. No champagne for us, though! A small thing, but I note other honeymooners had champers on their arrival. It would have been a nice touch. Still, the room was decorated beautifully. And we did get a free non-alcoholic fruit smoothie as we checked in which was refreshing. The rooms with roof top jacuzzi are secluded with ideal views of the beach. That jacuzzi is ideal to cool off because it gets HOT in July! Just what we wanted, though. The room is clean, the bed is comfortable, and room service is only ever a text message away (the reception has a handy WhatsApp service that's a great idea because there are no phones in the rooms). You don't have a fridge but we didn't need one. The bathroom has a shower and huge bath tub. The balcony has a hammock in the shade, upstairs is for tanning. As well as daily room service, there's a turn down service in the evening where they light incense. Again, it's these little details that add up to something special. The hotel has two restaurants: Fresco's and Ziggy's. Food and drinks are incredible in both. I mean seriously good. I'm hungry just thinking about it. The head chef even took time to chat with my wife and I about our thoughts and on our last night he created a special dish just for us - Mexican mole from the central regions with chicken breast. We washed it down with a Mexican wine and it was exquisite. By far the best meal we've had in all of Tulum, and on the whole trip which includes California and Nevada. Head chef Miguel came to talk us through the dish before it was served and sought feedback afterwards. He's a passionate and knowledgeable chef who I would love to cook for me again. I believe he runs both restaurants in the hotel. Fresco's is a 'healthy option' whereas Ziggy's is your hearty meals. We had breakfast as Fresco's almost every day and it's amazingly good. Ziggy's was our choice for lunch and also did an amazing menu at dinner. The only small note I'd make is that service could be a little slow once or twice, but when we raised it this was corrected immediately with an apology. That's another thing that's great about this hotel - if something isn't perfect, they'll make it better and make the customers happy. They're not shy of feedback. They want to be the best and that means always looking for ways to improve. The people on reception are perfectly polite and always up for helping. The guys on the door go out of their way to greet you or wave you off with a smile (they even checked our taxi was reputable before letting him take us off on a day trip one morning). The beach is stunningly beautiful. A couple of days we had some seaweed wash ashore and the hotel has guys out to clean it up in minutes. There's nothing they can do about nature but they try everything to make it as perfect as possible. The sand is cool under your feet, the water is the ideal temperature, and you have a bed reserved for you right there in front of the waves. All just a few steps from the room. This hotel felt like our home. I loved every minute and can give it my wholehearted recommendation. Gracias, amigos!
Great hotel. Great restaurant. Wonderful, helpful and extremely nice staff. The location is at a great spot on the beach strip and the personal beds are a very nice touch. I'd highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Tulum.
The Beach Tulum hotel is as advertised on its website. The setting is beautiful and the staff so friendly. We got one of the rooms with the rooftop jacuzzi and we're so glad we did. It was very private and offered a nice getaway. The room had AC, nice large bathrooms and comfortable beds. The two restaurants on site were good (Frescos and Ziggys). We did the special dinner one on night on our patio over looking the ocean. It was eight courses and a tequila and mezcal tasting. So worth it, we just wish our neighbor hadn't interrupted our dinner twice to yell at our server for being too loud. Overall a great stay!
This is our 2nd trip to The Beach Tulum and this was even better than last time. We didn't think that was possible. The staff and beautiful location make this place. The front end staff including the concierge, reception, bell hops and lobby bartenders are amazing and wonderful people and the groundskeepers, maintenance personnel and maids work their tails off to make this place functional and beautiful all of the time. This was more than just a good experience with good customer service. We felt like we made friends with many of the staff, including Vicky, Eloisa, Joel and Samuel and many others. What an amazing bunch of humans with good souls. Thanks for your guidance and friendship while we were visiting. We will be back again and again. Kerry and Krista Koppes
This is a wonderful boutique hotel. Every room has an ocean view and a patio with a private hammock. There are 3 types of rooms: a duplex with a ground floor room, ground floor beach access private patio with hammock and a private roof top sunbathing deck with private rooftop jacuzzi tub; a regular ground floor room with private beach access patio with hammock; a second floor room with ocean view private patio with hammock. There is room service, beachside service and patio service where the bartender brings you a menu from its sister property Ziggy's Beach bar. The food is good and fresh with many healthy options. I particularly liked the water heater and cooler unit in the lobby next to the bar where I was able to make tea with my own vintage-estate tea leaves throughout the day. Almost all places in Mexico serve hot water for tea in the same thermos used previously to serve coffee. This results in the water tasting and smelling vaguely of stale coffee even when the thermos is well-washed because the oils in the coffee get into the threads of the thermos and can't be washed out. As an avid tea drinker, the availability of a water dispenser that provided hot water suitable for tea was a big plus and will definitely have us going back there again. The staff were wonderful and Barbara at the bar is possibly the hardest worker of all. She never stopped bringing us menus food and drink from breakfast through late evening snacks.
We stayed 6 nights at The Beach and it was our first time in Tulum. Amazing, tranquil and beautiful. Staff extra accommodating, in the entire village. We had a junior suite, two steps from the beach and two steps from the amazing pool, with private plunge pool/ spa looking at the beach. Breakfasts at Ziggy's were wonderful and delicious. We traveled to Tulum's center several times, took a cab, then we rented a car from nearby (5 steps from The Beach) Hertz. We also were lucky to enjoy Barbara's Mezcal and Tequila tasting evening, it was unparalleled experience. Mojitos served were absolutely delicious and brought up to us wherever we were sitting at the time. Amazing hotel!
