We had been sent here through a tour company. We arrived around 6am and requested an early check-in. They said they could accommodate us for an addition 100 reals which they said was half of the standard rate (I later found that was actually the full rate). Our room on the 10th floor had a window but it looked into a 3x3 pitch-black shaft. We were ok with it. When I went to sleep there was this regular noise that sounded like jackhammering. I see that a number of reviews say it is construction noise and I asked the front desk about it but they didn't say what it was. I then realized it is actually the elevator, everytime it runs it rattles so much that it sounds like a jackhammer. The room was also quite dated but the shower was good and it is close to the beach. If not for the above issues then it would have been average. I was quite happy to move to an Air BNB a few days later after our tour.
Good location and connectivity (3 blocks from Copacabana beach and 2 from subway station). Very good service. Drinks service to swimming pool. Sauna, small gym. Clean rooms. Very good buffet breakfast until 10am. Some rooms are in construction, so it was a little noise around 11am some days. Free to use towels and umbrellas for pool ir beach. Small pool. Small terrace with view to Cristo Redentor open until 10pm.
Hotel is close to copa cabana beach. The hotel has friendly hotel attendant that speaks multiple languages. The hotel does money exchange as well. Breakfast is pretty good. The rooms are clean for the most part except for one sheet on one of the beds in my room had a huge stain. I did not get it address I slept on the other bed.
A quick stay upon arrival in Rio.The hotel is older, could do with an upgrade in parts but for what we paid was good value. The facilities are limited, rooms average sized,a bit of a walk to Copacabana, but hotel is pretty central for shopping. Nice staff. If you can cut a good deal with this hotel and don't expect luxury it'll be a good option.
Good location, just 4 blocks from the beach. That's about everything positive about this "hotel". Amazing how they never ever changed a detail of the furniture ,floor or bathrooms in 40 years....except for the more than up-to-date pricing. Very noisy, very crowded. Their rooftop pool is like 2x3 m lolll. Rooftop bathtub would fit. Another bad hotel in Rio. Nothing to recommend. Nothing special. Pitiful the whole place. From the white energysaving white light lamps to the door-banging guests. Pathetic. As bad as 75% of Rio Hotels. What a joke. Lots of cheap always angry and always yelling tourists from Buenos Aires , no class. But why....they match the hotel. Forget about it. Wifi never working unless you open the door and put a chair in front of it in the hallway. Dirty and worn out . Nothing to be proud of....shame on you to keep things like this open just to make a fast dollar.
The hotel was included in a package we booked, so unfortunately I cannot tell you if it is expensive or not, but I believe it is reasonable. Location: It is perfectly located only 2 blocks from Copacabana beach. Busses (there is a lot of them in Rio) stop only a block away and from there you can find any connections to main sights. It is located more the end of the beach, closer to Ipanema beach. The staff They are very helpful, friendly and can speak English well. Even the waiters and butlers, who cannot speak English, were always friendly. The butlers also provide towels and umbrellas for the beach. The hotel The foyer, lounge area, breakfast and pool areas are great. Breakfast is included and they serve a proper basic continental breakfast. Unfortunately we had a couple of things that bothered us in the room… We however don’t travel to sit in hotel rooms and therefore we accepted it for what is was because it was still overall clean, neat and spacious. Nice bathroom. We had a room facing to the back courtyard and a view onto Christ the Redeemer, which was awesome. Facing the courtyard also helped to keep out any outside noise. Rooms have free Wifi. The few things that bothered us were: When we arrived, even though the bed had a clean quilt and sheets on and was properly made up, the quilt was old, wrinkled and had 2 holes in it… The overall feel in the room is that it is old and therefore could appear dirty, although ours wasn’t. Yes, the air conditioner dates out of the year 1900 and thus makes quite a bit of noise. Well, more of a white noise and therefore it might help some people like me sleep better. The walls are quite thin (drywalls) and you might hear a lot of noises from other rooms if you have very inconsiderate neighbours… Which we ended up with… Then the white noise from the air con actually helps to some degree. Unfortunately we had to phone down to reception almost every night to ask them to ask the neighbours to be quiet at around 2 and 3am… (For the girls) Even though there is a hair dryer it wasn’t great. It took ages to dry my hair. Rather take your own. None the less we still enjoyed our overall stay.
We checked in on 7th May, and went up to our room. (Room 1005) The staff at the front desk were very good. Polite and helpful. The first thing that struck me about the room is how everything is not only old, but not maintained either. Not even cleaned properly. The aircon in the room made a terrible noise, the TV speaker is damaged and the TV sound is scratchy. There was something splashed on the bathroom door and the bedside unit. Don't know what it was, but it wasn't clean. The ceiling in the bathroom was mouldy. There were holes in the bed linen. There are exposed, untidy electrical wires coming out of the wall next to the bed. There was also a dead bug squashed on the shower wall. Disgusting. Also, no coffee/tea making facilities in the room. I had a look through the hotels flip file "portfolio" in the room. It basically consists of a list of things that you will be penalised for if you don't abide by the rules. Do not stay here. Pay a little bit more and get a decent hotel.
We were not expecting much when arriving at this hotel having read reviews and seen pictures before arriving, Our expectations were founded. The hotel is old - one of the lifts didn't work while we were there and the aircons look ancient. The rooms are old fashioned and in need of updating - looks like the place was decorated in the 80s, thin bedding, drab looking paint and furniture. This is a budget stay. On the plus side, the buffet breakfasts are excellent, many options and variety. The staff are friendly always serve with a smile and are well informed and helpful. Wifi was fast and a plus. Many options on TV. The pool area although small, was relaxing and has a great view of the Christ. The Hotel is well located, within walking distance to Copacabana beach, restaurants and shops. If the hotel updated itself, it would be a very attractive option when in Rio. I'm sure it was a great place back in its day.
This hotel was filthy and nothing near to what STA travel promised. It is disappointing when your travel agent sets you up like this and now passes the buck to the hotel!!! Take responsibility for your dishonesty, STA!!!
We had an 8night stay in a room with no window, However the room was clean and got cleaned everyday. The aircon worked well. Huge shower with excellent water pressure made our stay that more pleasurable especially after a hot day on the beach. The reception was very welcoming and friendly. Andre and Maxilla where awesome. They have assisted us in all our needs including our follow ups with our transfers. The restaurant food and breakfast buffet was very good. It has been difficult to communicate when ordering room service or in the restaurant as they couldn't speak English. The Wifi was fast and excellent to chat to family back home. One of the 2 elevators did not work during our stay and for me that was a huge disappointment as we had to wait a long time. The elevator that did work was also faulty and would sometimes stop on every floor. Overall a good hotel.
