I have nothing but great things to say about this excellent hotel from the check in to our very last day , we were treated in such a great hospitable way , we will be staying here next time we visit Rio . " LOVE IT"

staff was extremely nice and very helpful. took care of any questions and went above and beyond to take care of us

When checking in my room was not made up. While finding a newsroom staff bought me drinks and upgraded to dean view. Only problem was the down button never worked whole time. Had to walk down rep flights every time

The Best Western Ipanema Sol is across the street from one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The staff was very helpful in deciding where to go and what to do. I would go back here in a heart beat!

Ipanema Beach is the location for tourists and the Ipanema Sol is right on the waterfront near Leblon, Copacabana beaches and Lagoa so there plenty of places nearby to stroll. Breakfast room has a great view and excellent selection (the fruit was served ripe and delicious). Rooftop pool and gym are small but view is breathtaking. Rooms, though small, are clean, modern and comfortable. If you don't want to fork out double for 5 stars, but don't want to rub elbows with the real budget crowd, this is a great choice.

In general, it was a positive experience. However, the room cleanliness was not up to our expectations. The hotel has only two elevators, which must also be used by the service staff, and they are extremely slow

We spent 6 nights in June. Hotel Location 10/10. Staff: nice, not all speaks english but it s ok. Breakfast 10/10. Room: small but nice and clean. Reccomended. Max

The hotel is centrally located on the Ipanema beach. It is not a fancy hotel, but the price is if it were. There were several nice (expensive) restaurants on the streets behind the hotel. It is very safe to walk in this area as there is a strong police presence. The weather in May is 65-80 F and perfect for me.

Very nice for a one night stay with the location at the midpoint of Ipanema beach and many nearby restaurants. A very small, well-maintained hotel with helpful staff.

The oceanfront Ipanema Beach location of the hotel is excellent. I would stay here again. It could take you up to 60-90 minutes to get to/from Galeao (GIG) airport in traffic (but it only took me 45 minutes on the return). Transportation to/from the hotel by taxi will cost ~60 - 70 Brazilian Reals. When landing at Galeao, I do NOT recommend buying the taxi services offered just as you exit customs and immigration. It will be cheaper to get a cab at the airport terminal curb. The only reason to take one of the taxi services as you exit customs is IF you prefer to pay by credit card in advance. Tipping cab drivers is not necessary, though typically you simply round up the amount to the nearest whole Real and don't get change. If paying by cash, it is helpful to have smaller bills (2- and 5-Real notes), as many cabbies don't carry enough small change. Upon arrival at the hotel, and throughout my stay, II found the staff service to be friendly, the free breakfast buffet very filling and adequate (with a good selection of hot and cold offerings), and the rooms to be modern looking, clean, and the beds comfortable. Ipanema and the adjacent Leblon neighborhoods are some of the safest (but not 100% safe, especially at night) neighborhoods in Brazil. There are great restaurants in each neighborhood, with Leblon being a little more upscale (but not to the point of being dressy). Copacabana Beach (world-famous, but not as nice an area as Ipanema and Leblon) is also close by, and during the day, it is walkable (about 2-3km or 1-2 miles one way walking distance). A taxi to the train at the base of Corcovado / statue of Cristo Redentor will cost up to 30 reals, usually less for a solo traveler. Travel time can be up to 30 minutes in heavy traffic (but is not far from the hotel). Similarly, it will cost ~30 Real to get to the cable cars that take you up to Sugar Loaf Mountain. The only people I would not recommend this hotel to are those who have business in the Financial / Business District - the distance is too inconvenient. Finally, while there is free wi-fi in the hotel, I found it worth it to pay the 30 Reals/day to get faster connection speeds.

Clean room, beautiful view, good service, perfect location!

The Sol Ipanema was in a perfect location. It was directly across from the beach and within walking distance to many fine restaurants. The staff was very attentive, but we felt a little "used" when trying to arrange transportation to landmarks and the airport. The hotel would charge almost twice as much as a city cab, which were plentiful and easy to flag down. The breakfast buffet was very good. The hotel was doing renovations on the actual dining room and we were in a cramped "meeting room". Overall, the hotel was great and I would recommend it to a friend.
