This itinerary was booked on Expedia and the credit charged (showed in the credit card transactions) and the reservation was confirmed. However, during Checkin, we were already tired and it was late at night; FABIO, who is at the front desk, said that he didn’t have the payment information on his end. We showed him the Expedia confirmation, the credit card bank transaction screenshot, confirmation email etc. He told us to pay again to get the room and deal with Expedia as it’s “not his problem”. It was close to 12:30 in the morning, so we shelled out the money in local currency to get the room. Not sure if it’s a problem between this particular hotel and Expedia as I have booked several other hotels close by without this issue ever happening. The customer shouldn’t be made to suffer through the incompetence of the hotel and the platform. As I’m filling out this review; I’ve been on hold with Expedia for 40 minutes as the agent (Alex) I reached is trying to get hold of the reservation manager.

What a suprise...in a good way

A great value for the money. A 2 room suite with a kitchen area. Was not sure what to expect from an older building and if I had to go to Rio again I would definitely stay again

Decent hotel

Great location near the subway, and the beach. Front desk and cleaning staff very helpful. Room had an apartment-like feel. Beds were ok, pillows and bathroom towels could be upgraded. Not a luxurious experience, but OK for a short stay.

Great location

Great location. 5min walk from the beach and couple mins walk from the metro station. Shops and restaurants near by. Staff could speak English so was very helpful when I was stuck. Would highly recommend. Great price for what is offered and for location.

Great location and room size

This was our second stay at the Copacabana Suites, having used the hotel before during the World Cup. This time it was Carnival and staying in the familiar certainly made us feel safer. The hotel rooms are large with a separate sitting room and small kitchenette which given we had eight days here was incredibly useful and comfortable. The hotel is conveniently located near to the metro station and only a couple of blocks from the beach so everything is nearby.

Old building needs a total reformation

Was difficult to deal with cockroaches. had to kill 4 of them in two different occasions. No TV in the sitting room only in the bedroom. Very old and bad kept elevators. It was not a nice experience.

Great location and clean place to stay

I stayed for a week end of June. Great location and great staff. Excellent breakfast. Very nice apartment but outdated. Kitchen without microwave or utensils - useless. Bathroom outdated but clean. Overall, since I spend time to sleep and shower...amenities like pool and gym are outdated and would not use them since there is amazing Copacabana beach...very good place for the rate. Also, for the same rate there are some better hotels to stay. Still, very clean and decent place.

Ants!

ANTS! Everywhere there were ants in my room. I understand that Rio is a tropical location, and while I expected a few bugs (mostly of the flying sort), there were ants all over the floor, and constantly biting. So many bug bites. Aside from that, the hotel has a good location. It was right next to the subway, which for me getting to the convention center for a conference was super convenient. It is also a few blocks walk from the beach, which is a great place to go (not on the weekends, is super packed). Breakfast every morning was delicious.

Good location, huge apartment

The apartment was huge, and for what you pay is decent. Is about a 3 star hotel and the staff are wonderful just be mindful that they can't all speak but you're in Brazil so to be expected. Three streets back from the beach and breakfast is quite good although the eggs are a little cold.
